- The excellent Tom Edwards in a cheeky mood brings another evening on Thames to a close on a hot night in 1983
The film ending is an Edgar Wallace film called Dead Man's Chest with a young John Thaw and many other famous faces. Sian Phillips does the epilog which Thames got their money's worth from looking at other Thames closedowns.
11 July 1983. 'Whale Music' the following night being a pre-'English Patient' effort by Anthony Minghella.

Why was News at Ten moved to 9pm?
You would have thought that such a prestigious and financially sufficient ITV company such as Thames could have cleaned up and boosted the contrast of their dirty B/W screen presentation caption...!
It's the VHS tape recording that's making the B/W endcap look so dirty. As originally broadcast it would have the same level of contrast as their other endcaps
