It would have cost us about €750 then (1999 - 2001) to buy everything that was included in the box. It was and remains an excellent use of our tax money!
Congratulations to coming baby. I am born in Finland 1954 and my mother got free baby box to me and my brothers who wash born 1957 and 1964 .Findland is one of these who give free babybox to every baby born.

I‘ve been to the US of A on a High School exchange and my ‚English‘ teacher Ms Hansen asked me to stop writing in cursive because she had trouble reading it…in 1998! I have a beautiful script which I get complimented a lot aver in Germany, so imagine my shock… Don‘t feel bad, Sean, if an English teacher more than 20 years back wasn‘t able to read flawless cursive, you got nothing to be ashamed about! So glad for your first baby to arrive…hopefully safe and sound! All the best! 🤍

I was surprised that my college teachers and professors took the time to read my writing when I had to use the blue book to write my essays or exams-rather hard to type your papers in one. The people in the first group were more mature and knew I was a college student, not a "retard" who only write in "chicken scratch". Stacy is a sweet woman who understands you and will help you! I haven't really found a guy who accepts me-and I'm 69 now-but I guess I'll end up as a spinster with AADDHA.

These existed In England too quite a few years ago. Not sure if its still a thing. I got one for my first born there wasnt any clothes just a bib and some toiletries. But we were inundated with clothes anyways from relatiives and friends even from people at work . Who doesn't like buying new baby clothes!

I believe the concept of a baby box for every newborn child originated in Finland, where they've been doing this for many years. But you're right in saying that very few other countries do this, and I totally agree with you that it's a brilliant idea. Yes, as some have noted, one's taxes go towards paying for these boxes, but that's the whole point of taxes - people pay taxes according to their means, and the government uses that money to fund services and infrastructure to benefit all citizens regardless of how rich or poor they are. So the poorest mother will get a box filled with many of the essentials for their baby's first few months, which they might otherwise struggle to afford if they had to buy them. And in particular the fact that the box itself is designed to be a safe bed for the new baby removes one of the largest items of expenditure for a new baby. Sending you both the best of wishes for the forthcoming arrival!

I think that's the neatest thing! We don't have baby boxes in the U.S., but we can sign a child up for the Imagination Library, which sends an age-appropriate book for a child every month from birth to 5 years. I think that's neat, too.
The Imagination Library is wonderful! It was started by Dolly Parton, who continues to fund it, now also with help from local community partners - NOT the federal or state governments...

My 51-year old daughter recently said to me that she was so grateful that books and being read to were always part of her childhood. So she slept in a laundry basket. That baby box would have been a good idea. That can even be used as a toy box later. Super thoughtful of the government. Thank you for sharing. Yeah, it's a thing in Finland, and has been for a long time. I believe (it's been a long time since i went over this in school, and as i have no plans to ever get children, i've not had a particular need to check up how that works) that technically here one can opt for receiving money instead of the box with items, but almost everyone picks the box. I'm very happy to see that other places are doing it as well

What a great gift, well done Scotland! I’m glad there are books in it too. Please, even if you are not a good reader, read to and with your baby. My 51-year old daughter recently said to me that she was so grateful that books and being read to were always part of her childhood. Books open the world for a child, and what’s nicer than snuggling up with a parent as your world is being opened! Only a month to go, exciting! Best wishes both.

What a wonderful gift. You are correct. No one really knows exactly what they need the first time around. When my first daughter was born, she was early and we had no crib yet. So she slept in a laundry basket. That baby box would have been a good idea. That can even be used as a toy box later. Super thoughtful of the government. Thank you for sharing. As someone mentioned earlier - I can’t believe you guys have just a month to go. I can’t wait ~~ I know all the people that follow your channel are just as excited.

I understand Finland has something similar. As others have said, the US has nothing like it, and we could certainly use it. I would love to see the US follow Scotland’s example in this and more. Yeah, it's a thing in Finland, and has been for a long time. I believe (it's been a long time since i went over this in school, and as i have no plans to ever get children, i've not had a particular need to check up how that works) that technically here one can opt for receiving money instead of the box with items, but almost everyone picks the box. I'm very happy to see that other places are doing it as well
The govt. of Scotland is doing a great job by providing a baby box filled with baby goods in it. All the clothes and other goodies were awesome. God bless Stacey, you and the baby.😊

I first saw a short of one of your dogs go collect the 30+ sheep from the perch on the ATV on a darkening rainy muddy day; Enjoying every second of it! Watched eveything you have done. I’m so impressed with Scotland’s government! The baby box is full of important things a newborn needs. I enjoyed seeing what they sent you. I love that you call those itty bitty pants “trousers” (I guess that’s a Scottish thing?) and that you show some of the clothes upside down! Very new dad of you. Baby grow? In the U S we call them onesies. And we get nothing for free. well, the average person doesn't. Fantastic of Scotland to do that.

Babygro is a US brand name. Other brands don't use the name, so onesie became a great descriptor.
The wonderful thing about Babygro is that they fit through babies' growth spurts. They are great all around wear. I'm so proud Scotland puts multiples in the box.

So wonderful that every parent has this to look forward to before the baby comes! We know a lot of people struggle about what to get, what the baby needs and possibly to be able to provide some essentials. It’s very expensive to raise a child and you want them to be comfortable and taken care of properly! Baby will be here soon and you all take care of yourselves and the beautiful doggies!❤
