In the Studio with Ayreon - The Fifth Extinction

Watch more Ayreon on www.faceculture.com . FaceCulture visited Arjen Lucassen at his Electric Castle were he explained us how he worked on the track The Fifth Extinction. This track is released on the fifth Ayreon CD, titled 01011001 and is very interesting because it has six different singers in it. Lucassen shows us the build up of the track, how he managed to combine al the different voices and why he has chosen them.

I wish there was more footage of Arjen working on stuff in the studio. There is a lot of footage of the singers but very little footage of his mixing process and studio.

@makila666 Standard 7 string tuning, which is BEADGBE. That's for electric anyway. He uses a lot of standard acoustic too. Sometimes it's hard to tell though, because he uses so much instrumentation on all of his songs.
