Arjen is so right. Music, in fact life itself, does not evoke the same feelings it did when I was a teenager. The only music that strongly evokes that beautiful sense of wonder for me these days is Ayreon. So glad to have found Arjen's music.

The greatest album i have ever heard - this is an event, an inspiration - i have heard it 50 times in the last month - still picking up new things and loving it even more. Incredible.
So much going on in Ayreon. Clever melodies, excellent production and sounds, so many effects. So detailed in the smallest ways, and the big picture is excellent and well. Are you ready for the new album?
Seeing and listening to Arjen talk in the more recent years it's clear to me that during this time of the interview he was in a darker, less happy place. He seems so unhappy and tense... like he's reading off a piece of paper... Nowadays Arjen is completely different: funny, enthusiastic and full of beans... It breaks my heart to realize what depression can do to someone.. I mean: this is only a promotional interview but he still is so un-Arjen-like... like a different person... I am so glad, Arjen now is - obviously - at a much brighter and happier place! Still 01 is an amazing record and I can't wait for the concert in Tilburg next year!
Wow! I'm not surprised, but I'm still very glad to hear Arjen (by far my favorite metal composer) saying something very similar to what my favorite classical composer (by far as well), Gustav Mahler, used to say about music composition. For Maher composing a symphony was, in his own words, "like creating a whole world, with all the means at my disposal". Unlike most people doing music today, this man is a genius, a true uncompromising artist, and 01 is, IMO, one of the best albums of all times.
I totally agree with you Arjen. Make it challenging instead of making things obvious. It will enhance the experience when you re-listen to the albums. It makes the music "eternal" and "timeless" - as you mentioned. It's outstanding what you have achieved with your music. And I have never heard anything alike anywhere else. I love your projects. And I find the music very inspiring.
It's well worth it getting the Limited Edition Cd, I got it myself, I always tend to buy the Limited Editions for Ayreon, Love the interviews and the bloopers and seeing the vocalists in Arjen's studio to see how everything came to Arjen you've made another great album and hope to see and listen to a lot more Ayreon albums to come
i still cannot believe this album...It is such a masterpiece!! I have the limited edition folder...The DVD is great! and the package is awesome (but it is expensive indeed...)
I first heard The Human Equation, and I still think none of his other albums matches that one. 01011001 is more epic and dark as you say, and the older albums are more fantasy sounds. The stories of all albums are beautifully connected in this album, but the story of t.H.E. really put me on the edge of my chair, always wondering what the next clue would be.. All his albums are great tho ;)
