Hi
4:35 when using simple 3 column footer, the last column keeps shifting to the next line after pressing tab. How can I avoid that?
No one online seems to be addressing the most glaring change in Word re headers: there no longer seems to be the ability to have a different header for each section. Did they dumb it down? Imagine you've written a collection of short stories. You want the title of the collection on the odd page say, and then the title of that particular story on the even page. (This was a fairly standard publishing practice at one time.) That's not exactly what I'm trying to do, but it's a close approximation. And I was able to do it on an earlier draft of this work, a few years ago, before I got the latest version of Word. I know for a fact you used to be able to do this--assign a new header for each new section. Is everyone willfully ignoring this?
Thank you for watching! I have a separate tutorial showing how to insert headers and footers on specific pages, which you may find helpful: th-cam.com/video/Ee6HGuTc8cQ/w-d-xo.html. I wish you all the best with your Word document!

The option is not similar
The drop down menu boxe doesn't appear
I am looking for information about header, footer & margin sizes and how to determine what sizes will suit my requirements. It appears that the header and footer is above / below the margins but I am not sure.
Thank you for watching! The headers and footers are inside the page margins.
How do I add a title in Word "Client Name" to pages 2-35 that will be fillable? I already have an established header. Thank you so much for your help
Thank you for watching! Do you want "Client Name" to be in the header or body text?
Please can you tell me how to set our created header as the default header for future use?
That is a great question! Select everything in the header. Then, select Header in the ribbon and select Save Selection to Header Gallery from the drop-down menu. A dialog box will appear where you can name your header. It should now appear in the Header drop-down menu in the future. Thank you for watching!
Hello, the cover page of my work includes the name, proposal code and revision code. I want the articles I write here to appear in the footer of the pages. Do you know how to do it?
Thank you so much for watching! I'm afraid I need a bit more information about your question. Do you want to duplicate the title of your article from the cover page into the footer?
Nice mam ☺️
Thank you so much!
How to give differnt headers and footers in one file. for exp. l need header starts from 1 to 10 but same page footer start with 20 to 40. how can do it. kindly guide it.
Thank you for watching! To have different headers and footers in different parts of your document, you will have to create section breaks and then create the header and/or footer for that section. I don't have a tutorial about that process yet, but I do have a tutorial about creating section breaks that you might find helpful: th-cam.com/video/axPNUp4IQZI/w-d-xo.html. In addition, here is an older article from the University of Indiana that might be informative: kb.iu.edu/d/aiav. Best of luck!
@@erinwrightwriting Thank You Cheers!
Hi Erin: I created a document with the same headers. Initially I embedded a font which ended up looking like jibberish. I deleted it and retyped a recommended font. It still comes out jibberish. How do I remove any traces of the old font from my “ master document “ in MS Word? Thank you in advance!
Thank you for watching! Word uses the fonts installed in Windows, so your safest option may be to delete that font, which you can do by going to Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Fonts. I wish you the best of luck!
@@erinwrightwriting Thank you Erin! You are truly a gem! Best,
I am updating a directory from a PDF file converted to Word. (The original file is lost.) There is a header and page number in the directory. The header is centered and page # on the top right. When I try to Edit Header, Word acts as if there is no header in the document yet. I select the header text in the center and edit the font, but the changes don't appear in the following pages. I also had problems with page numbers not reformatting and changing. I am working with a new (mostly) unformatted version of the doc now. I had so many problems with the previous version, I actually deleted all headers and page numbers individually on every page. Editing still didn't work! Is there any way to address this? Thanks!
(Your videos have been very useful in helping with some of my tech challenges.
Thank you for watching! I am sorry to hear that you having this issue. I can't be sure what is causing the issues with your headers and page numbers. However, the quickest fix may be to insert all new headers and page numbers in that second version where you deleted all the old ones rather than try to edit the originals from the PDF.
@@erinwrightwriting Thank you!!!
Hello,
Please how to insert automatically headers for the first word in a whole document in order to make it like a printable dictionary. Thank you
Thank you for watching! I don't believe that is possible using Word's built-in tools. However, you may be able to write a macro that will perform that function. I wish you all the best with your project!
why is mine different. When I click header something completely different happens
Thank you for watching! I am sorry to hear you are having trouble. Which version of Word are you using?
How can I add the page number without typing it
