This is perfect for children of Khmer parents who couldn't practice the language because there were no khmer language books around. I really appreciate the Khmer script because it helps me read khmer and pronounce it correctly.
I really wish there was a book for pronunciations, writing and more for a lot of languages but most have a lot of alphabets and people don’t even know about the language,._.,
Thank you so much for making these videos! I am learning Khmer since my boyfriend is from Cambodia and honestly it is really hard for a native English speaker, but your videos make it easier! I really appreciate you!
As a Cambodian American who never got a chance to be taught how to speak Khmer growing up. This is so helpful, i can’t wait to surprise my dad with a these words and phrases I’ve learned!
i’m khmer-american, but my mom was always busy working and our relationship hasn’t always been the best, so i didn’t speak much with her, and i really regret it now that i’m older. it’s hard to find good online learning resources for khmer, so i’m glad i found this channel. thank you so much for your videos!
I fell in love with Cambodian culture because of some Khmer cooking videos I've been watching. My native language is Portuguese. Learning English wasn't difficult, but I couldn't say the same about Khmer that seems to be really hard to learn.
I was trained in the army as a Khmer linguist over 50 years ago. I haven't the opportunity to speak or write the language for a long time but I find it comes back rather quickly. It is good to hear it again. Thank you!
Thank you so much for making these videos! Very easy and nice to follow. My mom taught my older brother our language but never taught me lol. So here I am, finally deciding to learn because I don't want our culture to fade once I have my own family
Thanks so much Dara you’re going to help me a lot. My girlfriend lives in Cambodia she reads and writes English well but can’t really speak so I want to surprise her and be able to have conversations with her in Khmer. It’s going to take a lot of time but I’ll get there. Your channel helps a lot thank you
This is so helpful! Thank you for providing this resource. I will pair your lessons with books to help get a feel for the alphabet and the finer points of the grammar. I'm an American who has studied the Sutta Pitaka intensely, even learning a bit of Pāli here and there, and I'm thinking of moving to Cambodia to teach English and immerse myself more deeply in Dhamma practice.
my step daughter is Khmer and I am trying to learn a little of her language to not look like an idiot when I see them. I do speak, write and read both Polish and English but learning a new language at 37 is a feat in itself! thank you for repeating all the words to make it easier!
I wanna thank you teacher Dala for every lesson you teaches! I am now a 3 kids mom and need to take care my baby without going to a language school, but with your videos I am able to learn by myself and practice with my Khmer neighbors.
I plan to speak in khmer during my wedding vows to my cambodian partner and his family.. and as it's so hard to find learning resources to begin, this is so helpful!! thank you!!
I listened to this and tried pronouncing it with the video for fun. I don't think I will remember most of it, but this language is fun. I am glad your videos are here for people to learn how to speak Khmer or just become more aware of another language, no matter the reason. Thank you, Dara.
I’m a Cambodian person from America so I’m not fluent in Khmer and also my cousins grandparents don’t know how to speak much English so thank you so much for this video. Now I can speak to them a little bit

Thank you so much for this! You are a very good teacher; I usually have a hard time learning with videos. It's hard finding good sources for learning this language because Cambodia isn't very well known in the western world and seems to be overshadowed by more popular Southeast Asian countries, especially Thailand. I was very happy when I discovered this channel and hope to have a good amount of Khmer in my head so that I can travel to Cambodia with more ease and also have more access to information about Cambodia.
i love you for teaching this i love learning language and my goal is to learn most of them in the world recently found out the rich series on pnn and couldn't understand so started learning thank u so much means a lot im Indian btw
This was a great video for me as a beginner. I like the way you write the pronunciation in roman alphabet. I am in Cambodia now, and any learning will help me a lot.
I dont think I can ever learn another language.. I must be slow..lol no matter how hard I try...not happening. I wish I was born with that gift. I literally think it's a gift.
Thank you, Dara, for making these videos. I have two step-daughters with my wife, SokHeng, who is Cambodian. We live in Siem Reap. Please visit us sometime! : ) : ) My wife owns the shop Siem Reap Lavender Massage & Spa on Night Market Street. : ) : )
Great video Dara, I like the format and the frequency, your explanation and translation is clear and very easy to learn. Keep up the awesome videos. Awgoun🙏🏼
My girlfriends parents and her are from Cambodia. She can speak English but they cannot so out of respect I want to learn how to speak to them. I know that I won't be the best, let alone have a full conversation but its nice for greetings.
I was just called to serve a mission in Cambodia to share the gospel of Christ. I'm super excited and these videos are helping me learn the language, thank you!!
Looking at the comments, I think everyone is learning Khmer because they have a crush on a Cambodian person, its funny because its the same reason I'm learning it XD
Very good. there are so few good resources to learn Khmai. Spoken by a native speaker. I'm off to watch some more of his videos. On the word yes, 'baht and Jaa'. Baht is spoken by the male and Jaa by the female in all usages of the word yes. Some one watching this could make the mistake you say baht to a male and jaa to a female. But it doesn't matter much, I learned in Thailand years ago, it is a good way to pick an off duty lady boy. They say 'ka' all the time instead of 'club'.
Khmer is my first language but I moved to Australia for over ten years now, English is my second language, and now it’s my primary language, and I only know some necessary Khmer words lol
