    Hi Hannah, I went to Elmhurst a very long time ago. I became a dancer and had 3 disc operations,alll successful. Later I started teaching and more recently have had foot surgery and a hip protheses. I'm 74 yrs old, still love teaching and you will get through this and dance again. Surgeons do miracles and we must be very grateful to them. All the best and give us your news.

    You’ve got this, Hannah. Surgery is hard but it makes you appreciate your amazingly resilient body and it’s ability to heal. You almost need to give yourself more time than you think you need to heal and don’t be down hearted if you feel exhausted for a while afterwards - it’s just the way it goes, and one day you realise you’re out of the other side of your injury again. 🎉
    Good luck ❤
    Ps. Would recommend placing a resistance band on top of your two turn boards and standing on them so it is under both of your feet, to add a bit more resistance to the exercise 💪🏻

    Biggest thing will be not the physical side… as dancers we know our body and know what to and not do. It’s the mental side that’s gonna be challenging. Best thing to do is to have lots of things to do to stop these thoughts coming in. Well done with jigsaw. Get books in, start a new hobby like knitting, paint, do some writing……play cards etc… Youve got this. Xx

    Dear Hannah, thank you for the video and being so open about your thoughts! I know you are trying not to be apprehensive, but it is completely normal. It would be strange if you were not!
    Maybe write this down and post it on your kitchen table or wherever: *I have already succeeded at getting through surgery and recovery*
    Do I have a time machine, you ask? No, but I've been through a lot, and therefore learned a lot, since I became disabled; therefore, I can tell about you from your family background, your faith, your work ethic, your elite rhythmic gymnastics career, your year at Elmhurst when you started as a stranger to what was probably already a group that had bonded, your apprentice year including touring, your open mindedness regarding new ideas, your ability to derive inspiration from others eg Queen Elizabeth II, your love of beauty in nature and the solace it can provide, that you easily have the mental and emotional strength to conquer this challenge in your life. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that you can deal with whatever it is that life throws at you.
    Remember that all of our ancestors (of everybody alive in the world today) survived through famines and wars and diseases and heartbreak like coping with infant mortality etc. Since they had strength enough to get through it all, and reproduce, and their descendents eventually made it to the 21st-century, remember we all have that strength within us even if it has not yet been tested (and yours already has).
    There is a well of resilience in each of us that is deep. I discovered this to my surprise when I needed it, I as I had never suspected its existence. I firmly believe that every human has this.
    "Paul tells us: 'God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength but with your testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it' (1 Corinthians 10:13)"
    I hope this helps you a little bit! All the best to you, my dear.

    hey Hannah
    good luck! ☘
    you will get through this! 🥰
    like you said, it will make you stronger as a dancer.
    keep looking at this positively!
    I was wondering, so when you stretch real hard and afterwards you realize you have pulled something or injured yourself a bit do you keep stretching it out or do you take a break from stretching or... I am just wondering because this has happened to me and now it is just a bit tender, I do not want to make it worse but at the same time I do not want to lose my flexibility (that i jhave worked so hard for)😪. Also, on pointe shoes do any of you get sore feet or toes or in grown toenails. If so, does anyone have any remedies because I would super appreciate a bit of help! ❤

    • @madeline569
      @madeline569 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If its tender after Stretching a bit too much it could be tendonitits. Which part of your body is it?
      This has happening to my upper hamstring before. If its tendonitis then you must rest that muscle/tendon from stretching and actually work on the muscles around it to strengthen it otherwise further stretching will result in permanent injury.
      There are many physical therapy videos here on youtube to help you discover whether the pain is actually tendonitis or not. Hope you find the answer and get better soon

    • @roxykoehn1527
      @roxykoehn1527 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@madeline569 thank you, yes it is my upper hamstring.
      I was stretching my over splits a pulled something
      my right leg has been quit painfull
      everytime i try stretch it out it feels worse
      i have been trying to rest it but i am just worried that i loose that flexibility

    • @HannahMartinRG
      @HannahMartinRG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much 💪🏻🙏🏻
      I would say I personally would not overstretch a pulled muscle. I would let it settle before doing anything with it. The flexibility will come back, but if you push it the injury will put you out for much longer then you hope! 🙈
