  • You know me, I'm never one to glamorize the NYC lifestyle. This week was rough for me as I'm feeling I'm going through a bit of burnout on all levels. As always we have a bunch of fun though, it's not all depressing :) But in this video I dig deeper into me trying to make my situation better living in new york city. If you're going through something similar my heart goes out to you! Sending good vibes your way. Thank you for watching!!

If it ever happens again, I highly recommend a warm compress. Heat a clean wash cloth with hot water and make sure it’s not too hot before pressing against the eye. Do this every two hours until you notice pain subside. Usually for one day. By next day it’s gone. It works so well.

I miss quarantine too. Life was slower- we cooked and went for walks outside. Also as an introvert people couldn’t invite me to social events. Honestly it was the best I felt in my whole life and I was the healthiest both physically and mentally.

maybe for you - many people got fired or otherwise not able to work. This caused great damage to their finances. If you come from a poor family who experienced this, you will never say what you just said.

@@Jessica-dd8xo quarantine was undemocratic, illegal and I will (gladly) point that out to anyone in favor of those draconian mandates. Enjoying/missing those times is hugely distasteful, considering how many were impacted, and mostly displays ignorance, arrogance.

I feel many of us found you randomly in these past few weeks. I hope your channel grows so much that you can get sponsors and youtube monies! I center myself with yoga and solving jigsaw puzzles. However, nothing kills the zombie in me except for quitting my job and trying self-employment. But the latter brings many new fears that eventually come true. Or not. I don't think this world is going right for us, the little people. Maybe if we keep connecting some day we will be able to point our fingers at it and change it. Until then, baby steps and little joys - like videos from stranger to stranger :) happy to have found you

As a fellow member of the “my job is taking every speck of my energy” club, you are 100% right that community is ESSENTIAL. Having a group of people (in-person, online, both) that GETS you and loves you and not inky let’s you be authentic but WANTS you to be authentic and honest and real is so important.
Also, that pasta dish at the end your video looks amazing!

Randomly clicked on one of your videos today and somehow just found myself almost two hours later still watching. I'm not moving to NYC or anything like that, but love the true, genuine, real life that comes through in each of your videos. So honest and "normal" that I can relate on so many levels. Life is hard and beautiful and full of ups and downs. Its refreshing to see that so many of us go through the same experiences and struggles and that we're not alone at all 💪

Omg this is exactly what I needed. Watching someone live an ordinary life while I live my ordinary life. Watching this I couldn't help but chuckle about myself. I used to think the anxiety, exhaustion and disconnect I've felt about everything when I grew up was so unique and therefore mirroring some greek tragedy. When you're in that mindset, that everything somehow is meant to be hard and terrible for you and somehow maybe predestined to never turn good and happy, it can suddenly become frightenedly tempting to let go and unconsciously fulfill that premise for yourself. It's always something to be grateful about when strangers admit that they're struggling too sometimes. It makes that fight feel a little bit less solitary and a lot more communal. So please tend to yourself and take your time. Because that's what we're doing all the time too without having a camera pointed at us. We'll huddle together when you come back.

I would recommend for you to try to find something spiritual that moves you, it doesnt has to be religious, but spiritual. It can be some sort of club or community and it really does help with mental health and frequenting the same people with the same interest will increase your dopamine levels.

Hi Chelsey! Your video and this algorithm made its way across the world to South Korea where you're helping a 27 year old (me, duh) feel a little less lost in my own feelings. I too love my home and city - despite being so far from family, and I sometimes think that if we weren't asking ourselves these questions that make us question our existence or make us overwhelmed, we'd never grow. I center myself with music and walking my dog, seeing his joy in simply being outside and having me with him, helps ground me. I found these insane colouring books by Kerby Rosanes that my brain relax, too. Hope your next week goes better - you're doing great, living the life you've always wanted to build. I can't wait to see it grow.

I'm watching your videos all the way from Australia, where I live in a small coastal town... Our lives couldn't be more different, and yet I feel like I'm sitting here catching up with a friend. Your ability to show your humanity and share your vulnerability - with awesome humour peppered throughout - is so powerful.

I haven't seen this specific video yet but have seen other videos of yours Chelsea.
As a 33 year old man who has just moved to Sydney and living solo, I can relate to a lot of the mental, personal, and emotional triumphs and struggles you are going through and showing the whole world through your videos.
The winter months are especially harsh for the mind and working from home is both a plus and a minus.
I can especially relate to the sentiment of not finding fulfilment in one's job while not hating it completely, but needing it as a means to survive and fund your personal hobbies and growth pursuits.
Just keep moving and progressing little by little is all we can try to do.

After "accidentally" watching someone's travel vlogs (you know how YT do), and seeing their amazing travels, your video was recommended and I realized I needed a refreshing and grounded dose of reality! Seeing someone else's "boring" NYC life was a welcome change and actually made me appreciate my mundanity a bit. (although your TJ's haul was more interesting than mine - it's usually vegetables, chicken and frozen shumai) And for the record, if you're going to commit to a good ol' box of Kraft M&C, there's no point in ruining it with vegetables - just eat a big salad the next day. 😋 But I enjoyed this video and just subbed, so looking forward to more! (and good luck with the mental break!)

Another great vlog that I feel connected to so thank you! I remember during quarantine I loved the silence, the slow down, not hearing traffic just peace and I didn’t want it to all go back to chaos. I work an exhausting corporate job that I love but it’s still hard some days. Going for walks and taking yoga classes are what gets me through and even tho I’m around people in my yoga class I just don’t talk but it helps to not be isolated. And sometimes I just cry doing yoga because life is a lot. ❤

Hey! Hope you are enjoying your break. I dunno if this will help you or anyone else, but I thought I’d throw together a few strategies that work for me, managing those bad mental health patches.
    1. Buy those pre packed, ‘steam in a bag’ veges that take 5 minutes in the microwave. I don’t feel bad about food going off and frozen is better than no vegetables.
    2. I have to take a train to work, so I park near the station, that means I have to do a 10 min walk at the start and finish of each day.
    3. The really bad days at work, I go sit in the bathroom, close my eyes and take a few deep breaths. Then have a glass of water and get back in there.

I’m a 27 year old living in a small town in Norway, but I can relate SO much to almost all of your content.
When I’m done with the day and need to reset to relax, I put on some sort of vibey music (something happy at least) and clean the apartment first. Then I make something really easy for dinner/snacks/lunch, but it has to be something between easy and healthy. If I cave in to my cravings and eat pizza, I’ll beat myself up for it mentally later. I make a cup of warm coffee or tea and scroll youtube or a feel good tv show rerun until I’m tired, then do my night time routine and go to sleep.

Hi! I just recently found your channel and I am so glad it popped out on my main page. I am hooked by your vlogs, it feels so relatable - I love it. Finally found someone who is in my age, and is not a spoiled little diva with milions of pr packages. Lots of love xx

Just found your channel today and after seeing your videos feel like I’m watching a kindred spirit ☺️ I’m your age, doing a similar thing but in LA and when you said “my love for this city trumps everything else” I teared up bc a lot of people don’t get that. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼💙

Hi Chelsea! I just wanted to say your videos bring a smile to my face. Not to say that your struggles are in any way amusing, but in that you seem to make light of every situation you find yourself in. You just seem to be such a great, authentic person. I hope you never lose that and I hope things get better for you! You’re killing it and you make this girl from LA feel a little less alone too 😊

I love that you post the realness and truth! Sometimes it’s just truly hard being an adult! My go to decompress methods are music, working out or just being sitting in silence. Sometimes I just need to be for a moment! I also do love to go out on my back patio and do some deep breathing, fresh air is always helpful!

I hope you enjoy your break! I also struggle with being productive even when I know I should definitely rest. I just hate being still and not doing stuff lol but it's detrimental in the long term.
Also you're hilarious- I laughed out loud through most of this video lol

I'm happy you're having your New York experience but please take care of your health!! I loved living and growing up in NYC, as a native New Yorker. Especially in my 20's and 30's but as I grew older I knew it was time to go. I always think of moving back (always) but I watch videos and I see my city, I don't know the direction it's going, sad. Maybe one day I'll return but for now I'll keep watching TH-cam videos and reminisce on the "Good Times" and I hope my beautiful city recovers one day.

I love this video and thank you so much for your honest and authentic videos. Also I find it really calming to see another woman in her thirtees living alone in her apartment. With this lifestyle struggles come but also great opportunities. Now I am working parttime, focusing on my hobbies and communitywork. Sometimes its challenging, because I have to live frugal. But the time I have left for me ist just so precious. It was a very long way to live my life like I do these days.

I just found your channel - not sure why it was suggested...But I loved the look into your "average" life. NYC is so glamorized and its so nice to see what a more realistic portrayal is. Life is so hard. I can't imagine trying to survive in NYC. Props. Thanks for sharing!

Nice video, I think you had a 'stye' on your eye, an often stress related thing. Which goes with what I was going to say next - you are stressed babe, glad you're taking a break. Try and remember that crying is a good thing to do, and you probably need that right now. Not sure what is driving you but you need to understand it better - it is not driving you toward the satisfaction you need or crave in life. Good luck and I'm sure things will end up going better for you.

TH-cam suggested your vlog and I subscribed and really like it! I’ve never been to New York and enjoy doing a vlog myself- I’m from near Nashville. Im 60 and have my own but it’s fun watching people vlog from all ages. Working has always hampered my creativity and hobbies. It’s harder when you have kids and parents to care for. So enjoy the time! I’ll be back to watch the next one!

I've been watching you for a couple months cuz I am thinking about finally moving to NYC. After a bad interview *this morning* I was considering completely giving up on the idea even though I've wanted to move to NY since I was in high school. Seeing this video made me feel better, honestly, because you just truly do not give up.

I used to get styes ALL the time. Feel free to disregard the rest of my comment in case you’re not interested in unsolicited advice :) love your channel!
What helped me a lot with styes was warm compresses multiple times a day (just a warm wet washcloth) as well as reeeeally resisting the urge to rub it. Hope that helps!

  • @JayFingers

I kinda understand how you feel about having that period of freedom during quarantine. That time made me realize that I’m definitely expending too much time and energy on my day job, which I’m also thankful to have but wish I didn’t have to have. If that makes sense. 😅 And I also get it re: the dishwasher. My current apartment has the first dishwasher I’ve had since I lived at home with my parents, and I am loving it. I never had one in all my years living in NYC and now I don’t know how I managed without one. 😭😭😭

The part where you are cleaning the lens made me laugh out loud. And as for reset/Revivifying after a rough day at work, the act of cleaning ( usually the kitchen because it always needs a bit of clean up) makes me feel like I have that bit of control I crave and it’s sort of meditative ( sometimes I have a show I’ve seen before on in the background but not always). And recently, reading has been relaxing.
