Factory hitch. Works and is warranted. $750+ Wish there was a simple hitch-mounted, manual-lowering, spare tire carrier for a full sized spare. Negates the auto hatch lift but would free up a lot of interior space.
I really want one of these Rigd Supply carriers for my Subaru and my Jeep. They seem like one of the most well designed options out there. www.avantlink.com/click.php?tool_type=cl&merchant_id=799f2bf5-19f8-44e4-9984-84427abe13f7&website_id=82b07eb2-1833-4536-be1e-6c2aca8f9b62&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rigdsupply.com%2Fproducts%2Frigd-ultraswing-multi-fit-spare-tire-hitch-carrier%3Fsrsltid%3DAfmBOoqL5WnVEy5QdRrbUoPLho859bUG2n4seXBcQbs4YAyLn_xWtiqt
one thing you didn't mention is how much a tow hitch can save your bumper, ive seen some Subarus (hell even trucks) that dont have a tow hitch and there rear bumper got tore straight off from the body, if using a hitch it would take the whole hit of say a rock and only scrape the metal and paint instead of a unwanted bumper removal. there like rock sliders for your cars butt, i would 100% recommend getting one they have save mine and my buddys bumper countless times
I plan on using my hitch to eventually tow an aliner pop-up camper so my family and I can save some money on room and board and really go wherever we want. My wife and I both work for home, so the goal is to get a good enough wi-fi signal to be able to work during the day, travel and explore at night. Right now, I have a brake light led receiver that attaches to my 4 pin for extra safety/visablity when off the trails.
I love those Aliners! Have you used it yet? I also work from home. I've been tempted to go bug out in the woods somewhere for a week and use a wifi hot spot😜

@@AndrewHoldsworth-w1j it's honestly like a 45 minute install for the wiring harness I did it but truthfully I don't think it's worth it unless your towing a trailer around every other day
Full disclosure, I've never had any reason to own a trailer and have never needed to wire one up. But I assume it will depend on your vehicle. I can't imagine it being any more difficult than installing an aftermarket head unit. Etrailer has some good info on it though! www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring-4-way.aspx

@@gabriellunsford145 oh 100%! I ripped one of my bumpers off on the trail once haha.
That's definitely a huge benefit.
Now this is useful good information! Thanks 🏆
@@martinr8278 thank you for the kind words! What kind of Subaru do you have?
I love my hitch! In town, I keep a beaver tail attached to make tailgaters think twice!
Hahaha legendary!! They really do come in handy.

For the trailer hitch what about the wiring harness? Is that a DYI level task?
