    For my 2016 S550, the "tool" was a torx-20. Thanks Wayne. Very Helpful.

    Great video. Very helpful. My 2016 S550 had 2 more torx-20 screws holding the retaining cover in place. If you find your piece covering the 2 filters will not come off, you may have them as well. One is very close to the footwell wall, and a bit of a bugger to get off.

    Useful vid...I was able to see Dealer damaged blower cover and kick panel when they did replacement prior to delivery.
    We have a 2019 S 560, install is very similar.
    One comment, not only should the filter holes be on top, but they should also be on the inside towards the blower, at least they were that way on my car.
    Your aft filter would need to be flipped 180 degrees.
    There is a snippet of MB service manual, on line, but it does not say which way to face the filters.
    Keep up the good work!

    I have just changed the cabin filters on my 2016 Mercedes Benz S class, built for the UK. The first cover was held in by 3 Tork screws as described but it took ages to remove as it was a very tight fit. The second cover with the white sliding latches also had 2 more Tork screws securing it, not mentioned in the video. So beware more to it than it appears. The filters removed were MB original parts dated in 2016 when the car was built so never been changed but MB service reports say they were!!!! Out of sight out of mind. An easy £50+ on the service bill.

    Thanks for the video, it helped me more than the service manual did. A couple of comments; 1) I found it very very helpful to wear knee pads while doing this, as concrete on 58 year old knees is not as fun as it sounds. 2) If you remove the protective carpeting and pull down the padded floor carpeting, place a large cloth or rag over the exposed wiring. If you drop a screw or driver bit, it will be very difficult to retrieve it. 3) If you get filters that are directional (have arrows for airflow direction) make sure they point at each other (the service manual points this out and states it will cause damage if you don't, but I don't see any difference on the stock filters). The stock ones have check marks, but am not sure if they are arrows or not. On my car the check mark points were both directly at each other. The manual page AP83.00-P-8384HA step 7 states; Pay attention to installation position. The arrows attached to the activated charcoal particle filters (4) point toward the blower motor. Damage can otherwise occur.

    A few differences on my 2015 S550. First, there are *two* wire harness connectors on the outer cover, rather than just one in the video. The second connector is blue and over on the left side, near the center console. The lock on that connector is on the center console side, and you'll want a small screwdriver to wiggle it free. Second, on the interior cover, there is a screw to remove, in addition to the two sliders. All pretty straightforward. Oh, and I think you should pull the floor cover forward before removing the outer cover, as I think that makes it easier to get the panel out.

    Although the 2015 model is nearly identical to the 2016 in the video, mine had a screw in the plastic plate with the two sliding tabs. So even after sliding those two tabs to the center, there's a fourth screw that has to come out to get that piece out.

    Aside from the three black front T-20 screws, there are two silver T-15 screws located deeper into the filter compartment hatch door that have to be removed on my 2011 S550 to get the filter hatch door to open. It’s very frustrating if you don’t know about them as they are near impossible to see or reach. Get the out with a mini ratcheting screw driver and discard.

    My 2020 W222 has the identical cabin air filter components, but after I remove the 3 torx screws from the bottom panel, the panel is still being held in place by what appears to be clips on each side. I can’t tell if these are actually clips or simply a friction-fitted plastic catch. I didn’t want to force things by pulling down on each secured side for fear of breaking something. Can anybody advise me on how to remove this bottom panel correctly?

    • @WayneARobertson
      @WayneARobertson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you verify if these are clips or screws by shinning a flashlight on tbe part being held up?

    • @puangpayomjohnson7546
      @puangpayomjohnson7546 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WayneARobertson Wayne there is a small rectangular slot about 1” x1/2” cut into each side of the panel that is immediately adjacent to its far right and left front sides. I can see nothing that causes the panel to be held in place at these two points, but when I try to pull down on either side, it remains firmly in place. There is definitely no screw there either. I’d attach a photo but don’t know how.
