    Pretty simple and straightforward carbs to clean, once you know what to look for. Great job👍🏻 if that method of flushing out the low circuit hadn't worked, that black plastic piece, thats blocked by the throttle stop screw is the low jet and just pulls out once the throttle stop screw is removed.

    THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING THAT NON ETHANOL FUEL ALSO DEGRADES!!!! If i got to slap someone in the face every time i had to argue that at work i would be substanially less frustrated.

      The low boiling ( more volatile ) components tend to evaporated off . I have brought back " dead gas " by giving it a dose of Cosby Sauce and some butane I had laying around .
      Of course if it's making varnish or has water in it , I wouldn't bother .
      At that point it's just suitable for burning brush .

    That's nuts I've got my little poulan 4218 that lives down in my pump house that's by the creek and I know the gas is 2 years old if not more and it fired right up and ran great! I do use the non ethanol and vp mix that has the ethanol shield and stabilizer in it because I know that saw sits. Buy hey good stuff as always you've taught me a tin since I've been a sub!

      I also own a poulan 42/18. I run only non ethanol and red armor. I'll tell ya it's a really good saw. Everyone complains about poulans, but I haven't had a single issue. It fires up every single time. Even after running it for awhile and I shut it off... It starts on the first pull. I run a NGK and gapped it at 30 thousands. The key in my opinion is run good fuel and maintain and equipment will run good

    In an effort to save pull starters, I always squeeze the trigger and let the water pump when starting. Just seems to start easier when not dead heading against the pump.
    Always enjoy your pro tips!

    Your timing and equipment being serviced is just what I needed. Fixing to pull that same washer out the shed next week.

    Frayed cables are also excellent for cleaning jets

      True! I use individual strands from a copper conductor

    • @simonilett998
      @simonilett998 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I keep a single strand from a frayed push bike cable with my carby cleaning tools, especially for cleaning the tiny hole in the black plastic idle mixture jet (which Richard didn't mention, or remove and clean in the video) but it mainly affects the running at idle, and can cause hesitations when trying to rev up off idle, so with a pressure cleaner that might not be a big concern since most of the time you're running it flat out.

    Nice video Rich. I have a Honda Generator. They do run great and are easy to maintain. I always wondered why they do not use a small fuel filter. I think they would benefit from one if you could fit one on there.

      @Mastr-Tech 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is a fuel filter connected to the fuel line fitting below the tank. It works great.

    • @richevy5224
      @richevy5224 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Mastr-Tech I will check. I just did the same service to mine. Just a hose connected to bottom of tank directly to carburetor. I did not see any filter. Mine is from 1987.

      @simonilett998 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@richevy5224The fuel filter is inside the tank, the fuel hose under the tank connects directly to the bottom of that filter👍

    • @richevy5224
      @richevy5224 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @simonilett998 I'll check on that too. But I think it is only a screen. How would it get changed?

    • @simonilett998
      @simonilett998 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@richevy5224 Yes, it's just a fine mesh plastic screen.
      You need to lift the tank up enough or remove tank and disconnect the fuel hose.
      Then remove the plastic nut that retains the filter to the tank.
      Reach inside the tank through the fill hole with long pliers or a grapple tool etc and retrieve the filter from inside the tank, or simply turn the tank upside down and shake the filter out.

    Hey Richard, you didn't mention anything about removing and cleaning the black plastic idle mixture jet, underneath the idle set screw?
    This is often the main cause of surging/hunting at idle (although maybe not a big concern with a machine that runs at full throttle, like a pressure washer or generator) but it still affects off idle acceleration and contributes to the overall fuel mixture at full rpm.

    Good on you for leaving the " I'm an idiot" portions in the video. Leaving ignition off, or leaving choke on could lead someone down the wrong path on their repair! Did you clean the emulsion tube holes as well?

      Thanks! We've all been there Lol!! I did inspect the holes they were all clear. I should have showed that part as well.

    I'm stuck with ethanol gas, unless I want to drive 45 min each way to the airport for 100LL. But, I keep my storage tanks tucked in an out of the way corner, as full and as tightly sealed as I can (short of blowing one up), , and the same with the generator, which I run once a month...I also use the old, red Sta-Bil religiously, and, knock on wood, I've never had a carb issue, water in the gas, or excessively stale fuel in 25 years.

    I try to take care of my stuff, but I saw something that made me curious. Have you seen this VP racing "fix it fuel"? I saw it at home depot. I know it's probably a gimmick and you said you don't want to be a test channel, but I'd like to see if this stuff would actually do anything. If I had something that wasn't running right, I'd try it myself lol
