Nintendo should add this as a 3rd music option. Being the same songs, the more prominent sounds from both come through making a more full and at times more powerful sound then either on their own, almost like a full orchestra versus a small one.
Im really glad others feel the same way, I'd love to hear official dual mixes in remade games. Some even do nowadays, the legendary theme in Pokemon ORAS included parts mixed with the original track. Thanks for the positive feedback Im glad it came out okay :)
Agreed. The music when your doing battles, boss battles and king koopa's castle (Second time), as well as the tadpole pond are favorites of mine.
Same here, the Bowser keep (second time), actually works a whole lot better than I anticipated

Putting the two boxarts next to each other, I now really notice how off Bowser looks in the SNES boxart

Now I truly get the best of both: the softness of the remake that really expresses the whimsy of the world and the punchy, thumping basslines that made the OG boss fights so good to listen to...
Also, proof that Shimomura is a genius - who would've thought to put the riff from Golden Earring's "Twilight Zone" as a bassline beneath the Undergroud melody?

Sounds much better too. The modern mix sounds like garbage compared to the original, but with the original backing it, sounds much more divine

I just realized since I haven't seen the OG box art in a long time. They gave Geno front and center with Mario, a small change, and yet it goes to show they knew his return needed him in full glory up front. What an amazing game
Edit: I also adore how since most songs have a new "part" to them, you can hear the original songs shine through in those moments

The synthiness mixed with the modern sound of the strings makes it sound so full. The drum beat sounds amazing, too.
Fight against Smithy dual mix is INSANE.
Despite the console's limitations, SMRPG managed to contain one of the Super Nintendo's most iconic music ever.
And despite the remake no longer having those limitations, it managed to capture the essence of the original AND improve on it by just a bit.
Playing through the game twice to hear both soundtracks completely is worth it, imo, because it's that good.

I’ve always loved listening to mashups for as long as they’ve been around, but this is the first time I think I’ve ever heard one half of the version complete the other half!

It's hard to describe but It really is amazing how just "not different" the music is while still being much better.
It's like the original makes up the core of the song while the remake enhances it. The songs for me that stand out are 1st form smithy, mushroom forest, and weapons factory.
I don't understand why this works but... normally they clash but they go so interestingly well together

I’ve been looking for this ever since the remake came out. And this is by far the best way to experience the game’s music. I love both soundtracks, and putting them together just fills the gap perfectly. Do you think you could make all the songs into individual uploads? Because it would be nice if you just want to hear something like And My Name’s Booster without having to fast forward to it

You fixed the Fight Against An Armed Boss Theme!!!
I found this video when it first released and have listened to it several times since. Amazing work!! Is there any chance you'd be willing to make an alternate version of Barrel Volcano where the mashup plays throughout? It's one of my favorite tracks in both games, and the one in the video where it switches between versions in the second half is very creative, but I just love blended version so much! Would love to download it individually either way if you're still looking into that :]c

This is all I wanted. I love the new arrangements so much but something is missing from each of them. The original soundtrack was just so incredibly rich. They compliment each other so well…. Except Midas River. The original has always been just ever-so-slightly off-pitch so I didn’t expect them to sound great together 😅

oh my goooooooooood hearing the 2 Culex tracks together is amazing. though I'd like it more if the original was a bit quieter. still, this is pretty awesome. kind of wish this was available track by track.
Really wish you had mashed up Slope all the way through and not stopped it at an early point. But otherwise thank you so much for this!
The track Slope is 2 minutes long and is 1 minute 50 seconds here, I just faded out the last 10 seconds of the track. Some versions on YT loop the song longer but this is the length in the ost.

I’m not sure how easy this is, but I think it’d be cool if you had classic playing on one headphone and modern playing on the other so it’d be easier to distinguish the 2.
Its easy to do on Audacity theres a slider for it, sometimes people dont like it so I tend to not but its a cool effect

Unfortunately the original wine river track is pitched up by like 30-40 cents and it appears you didn’t compensate for that because the remake isn’t. Good job on everything else though.
Nintendo should've included this version of "Fight against the monsters". Missed opportunity. Oh well
