Dawn and Faith - The Church of Lathander - Forgotten Realms Lore

- The Morninglord has a long and interesting history, but how is his church run? What do his followers value and what sort of people go to his sermons?
This video takes a look at the faith of Lathander and how someone who stumbled into a follower of Lathander would be treated and what sort of activities his church would do.
It talks about the rituals and festivals the church holds, what titles are used in the temple and what sort of reasons someone would go to a local chapter.
While not every temple of Lathander is welcoming and innocent as the perspective of Orlpar the Dawnmaster here, the church of Lathander is one of the more open and welcoming places in the realm.
Last time we discussed churches, we tackled Bane and his doctrine.
The intent behind this series is to move away from the Gods and their ploys and look at how their worshipers work.
What are their temples involved in? Why would you join? What attitudes and perspectives would a follower of the divine being hold.
This series is slightly inspired by popular views on modern religious - Bonus points for who can guess where this one drew its inspiration :)

I do that too or anytime after a battle I praise Lathande.
I'm finally getting to play D&D instead of just running a game and I'm a cleric of Lathander. I'm pretty excited to play. :)

I played a Lathander cleric who wasn't a morning person. It was a fun opportunity for humor, but also he was an example of making sacrifice for what you believe in.

Lathanderites are snappy dressers (or tend to be, anyhow) right up there with Waukeenar and Sunites.

The teachings of Lathander need to be made into a real world philosophy for people to follow. I think people would be a lot happier and the world would be a better place.
Lathander, Chauntea, Eldath and Deneir: optimism, harmony with nature, peace and literacy for all.

I'm playing a harpy cleric of lathander who was raised in the temple since she was an egg when a paladin of lathander felt guilty for killing her entire flock on a mercenary merchant escort mission that got attacked by said flock. But she struggles with feeling if she really belongs and wants this since she has never experienced anything else. So, her priest suggested she goes on a pilgrimage to experience the world with the Morninglord's blessing. Will update once she goes through her faith crisis the DM is cooking up

Edit: Now I noticed it was said Lathanderite and Lathandarian. Is there a difference between the two?
Morning Church of Lathandarite Saints
In my campaign the lathanderites are the betrayers that, once loyal, supported the heresy of Amaunator in the Lathander Church (like the jesuites in the catholicism) while lathanderian are the common believers in Lathander.
I don't know if it's the same for Lathander, but some have different names for worshipers in general and for clergy in particular.
Lathander is my go-to Diety. Praise be he.
I’m playing a pretty dark character. A yuan ti bard that received a vision and offer from Lathander and multi classes to celestial warlock. Pretty fun playing a dark and sinister character being tempted to goodness and seduced by the light, rather than the typical descent to darkness. This was helpful to plan my shift in attitude.

Playing my first DnD game and I'm an Accolyte Goblin Monk under Lathander. It's pretty fun so far!
I had a lot of fun as a light domain cleric sunsoul monk multiclass lathander was my dms personal recommendation and I just loved it
That is very interesting! The Order of the Sun Soul is related to the old Netherese god Amaunator, whom some believe became Lathander in the Anauroc became desert.

So let me get this straight, anytime they disagree about anything, they ALL have to gather in 1 place (Even though it is a global religion and there is no hiararchy to send representatives) and debate until they unanimously agree, wich would mean logically if there is more then a dozen in total they would never ever come to an end to an argument. Do people know how hard it is for people to unanimously agree about anything? We dont even have unanimous agreement that the world is flat.
Its not a very efficient religion, polite yes, efficient... not so much.

As a player who's playing a neutral undead character with good tendencies, this guy's followers are a real pain in the ass xD Never faced so much discrimination before in DnD, especially when they active their divine sense and can look through my disguise :S

Character idea: Paladin, possibly LN cleric+paladin multiclass. Charismatic football coach type, an expert at tactics _for the love of the game!_ Reveres Lathander as god of strength and athletics. Super-fit "jock" who the ladies (or guys) swoon for and is always positive and encouraging: to the fighter who got mangled by that monster, "You'll get 'em next time, bro!"

Have you ever thought about doing dragon lance lore?
It's a great campaign. I first started playing dragonlance in 2nd edition. It also has some of the most amazing books tied to it. If you are going to look it up, I would suggest starting with Dragons of Autumn Twilight.

Illmater is by far the better fantasy analog of Jesus Christ. That said, _some_ elements of Lathander are certainly representative of Jesus Christ (also, I'd peg the idealized interpretation of Jesus as overall Neutral Good).
