- I’m starting to think that Charlotte Tilbury hates women over 40! Brightening powders are nothing new. They’ve been around a long time. Some work great (Laura Mercier is a good example when used sparingly). However Charlotte’s attempt to brighten just doesn’t work. Particularly if you’re over 40.
It’s a light reflect powder without shimmer but with definite shine. It catches into wrinkles EASILY. It looks powdery and dry under the eyes and the shade is EVER-SO-LIGHT!
It’s completely disappointing. Which is sad.
Whatever happened to Charlotte Tilbury after the sale of her company is leaving me starching my head. Because its doing down hill fast.

I freaking love wayne goss. I wish all beauty creators could take more tips from him. Hes honest and compassionate about makeup yet doesnt hype up crappy products. Hes perfection seriously.

Agreed! Most influencers wouldn't dare critique Charlotte! I am personally not a CT product fan & certainly not a fan of her prices! The ONLY thing I've bought of hers that I love is her Star Aura eyeshadow palette. I do like it.

I have found the PERFECT trick to look like the "goal-picture" when you have mature undereye-skin:
1. do your makeup
2. dim down the light in your room even moore
3. back away far from the mirror
4. make an instagram-mouth-pouting-face in profile to yourself (still far from the mirror)
5. quickly step away from the mirror
6. Don't go outside your door when it's daylight outside.
Mature under-eye-makeup-problem solved and goal-picture reached!! 😄😆😂😂😂😂😘🤗🥰

It’s a no for me just because of CT overhyping and over pricing their products. You can get much better products at lower price points.
Elf halo glow powder is excellent. I own the CT powder but the elf one is my favorite. (Not that CT is bad.)

@@dakwatungu93 Well if you can get it from a friend you should! It travels well and the powder is great. I just know I am always satisfied with the elf powder so I probably wouldn’t repurchase it lol.
Wayne I just want to say I purchased your Quartz pallet and it is exquisite! The formula blows away Viseart for me. The creme shade is so basic, but the formula is a masterpiece. I will use it daily forever! It is even my go to for Ballroom dance stage makeup. Simply exquisite! ❤️

I always hated the whole “darling” thing. So naff. And some of their products contained (and maybe still do) parabens which are known hormone disrupters.
Didn’t he used to love Charlotte and CT (the brand) ??

My gosh, thank you for saying it! I've thought this for awhile now. Nothing coming out from Charlotte since the sale has made much sense to me. I've ordered a few things after being sucked in by marketing and the truth is, it's just not the same innovative product line it was before. I'll repurchase my old favorites, but I won't be falling for the marketing again. THANK you Wayne!

Good Grief! With all the money they charge for their products, you'd think CT's R&D department would come up with some quality powders. I know some of the products are really good but I am done with the brand. I am 61 and have dry skin but the WG setting powder looks great on me. There is no excuse for so many crappy products.
The level of frustration in your voice. I know you like and admire CT so I know it makes disliking her products even more frustrating. Hugs to you in maintaining smiles and humor when it’s not easy.
Their products have never been kind to me. It usually leaves me looking like a leather bag. Ugh. I'm not even wrinkled.
How disappointing! Seeing this video, I'm glad I chose the NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder (which is absolutely fantastic) over this stuff, which was my other choice. I love Charlotte Tilbury's lipsticks and eyeshadow palettes and I hope those products will remain high quality even if the brand is cutting corners elsewhere.
The NARS powder is the only thing I will use under my eyes, it's so good!

Hi dear Wayne, thanks for your always honest opinion!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩And of course Charlotte does not go bankrupt like i read in comments, say what you think please, we also do that here in The Netherlands. I did not buy this product yet, as i first wanted to see all reviews being there and coming, to be honest. Really like the original one, it's in my top 5! But it's always difficult, i'm 52 now, i do not set my concealer or i use a very little bit Kosas, Westman Atelier or Pat McGrath powder mostly under the eyes. But it's the most difficult ara of the face! If you have new idea's, you know i love your brushes, your makeup, and love to learn from you! CT is like many other brands hit or miss, like TF and others. And after disliking all her concealers, i think i will buy her concealer now, i see nice reviews!!! But i also love many, many things from Charlotte! What really disturbed me is that sigarette kind of packaging with summer stuff in it, i have very serious allergic asthma, always have to find another place on a terrace when people have to take their sigarette, that launch, i really did not appreciate. But she made many beautiful things!!!! Wear her new Sunlit cream shadow so much!!! When are more brushes from you coming back, Wayne? Love your makeup, but also your brushes! The gorgeous squirrel set with the wooden handles, your soft on eyes eyebrushes, all of them!!! And when is your cream foundation coming back in the lightest colours? I passed on this and the new concealer. The last thing I need to do is highlight my under eyes. 😂
The combination of a powdery texture and metallic sheen actually functions more as a groove enhancer that coverup.
I don’t use any powders for this same reason. Thanks Wayne for the honest and genuine review💖

Huda does have some good products however. I still prefer Huda over CT.

A majority of creators I watch rave on and on about CT products. Like they are the holy grail of makeup. I don't own any CT products because the price and the claims make me think it is bs. Pretty packaging though. But, for some reason this year I have been extremely tempted by her foundation, powders, and bronzers ( probably because of the hype ) 🤔? So again, thank you for your honesty about the product on mature skin! I am 39 and would never want to waste that kind of money on bs products and their miracle claims. Also, you are hilarious 😂 I always say, " Dang, for that price it better give you a happy ending!"

So far this year I've bought CT foundation and it looked green on my skin. I bought the newest bronzer and it's so orange it looks like a clown. I just don't understand who can use some of these products. I appreciate you calling this one out and the brand in general.

CT is a big fail for me.I once bought an eye (CT) pencil and read the tiniest print that said, “do not use on water line”.
A lot of eye make up is technically not supposed to be used on the eye area. Hence products sold as 'pressed pigments' rather than eyeshadow 👀
You are so lovely Wayne. Watching one of your videos always elevates my mood and somehow just makes me feel better.
Perhaps it’s better to try the Westman Atelier or PatMcgrath. For now I’m just using my old Laura Mercier and my old Hourglass. And chantecaille pressed one which I don’t love because you need to be extremely light handed or it gets cakey

I appreciate your honest review of this brightening powder. Just because it is a higher nend product doesn't mean it will work well. I have never found a good color match for my skin when using brightening powders. I always fall between colors. Thanks Wayne, for another great vido review.
I got the concealer and powder (I am 38 years old with combination skin and fine lines) and they look beautiful and brightening together. I agree with the marketing selling us a car and mortgage instead of a makeup product.

Hi Wayne! I bought this powder along with the new Charlotte Tilbury concealer . I have pretty fair skin with wrinkles underneath the eyes. For me , it’s a big yes ! The concealer blurs everything under my eyes and the powder is beautiful on top of it ( I applied the powder with your air brush with taping motion to press the powder in the skin )
So glad it worked for you! I have the new concealer - which I LOVE! but this powder just did not work for me - even with the new concealer sadly :(
I must confess I am not a huge fan of Charlotte Tilbury's products. I've tried 5 or 6 and the colours just don't suit me. Any of them. I don't know why, they just look awful on me. They might be great for other people but... not for me. Thanks Wayne for being so honest.
My makeup guru was my sister. She passed away in Feb. If there was anything new out there she would tell me.. How to use it was a different story. So,I found you. But I am so confused about when to put on concealer before the base makeup or after ? Learning thru trial and error about how to do hooded eyes and eyeshadow for a 73 year old. Love your tutorials.
Just looks like a 90's metallic white eyeshadow to me! (I should know, I used to wear one all the time! 🤣💃🎧💽)
As someone with extreme dark inner corners, I can tell this shade would be a no for me. Would make them look grey. Thanks for the review.
Wayne, try using the powder only in the divit, not all over. When you use it all over under the eye, any puffiness is also brightened.The divit is below the puffy area. 😘
Ever since you said in one of your videos - 'there's nothing more lovely than a lady patting her face with a compact' (paraphrasing, or what I recall) that's what I have been doing. My under eye crepe does not like handling, so I pat it. It's the best advice I have ever got for make-up, so I thank you. And for the eye-liner/ eye-lash/ foundation.... you get my drift 💞💞

Wayne i also feel this powder is a no.Brightening powders are a confusing concept in my opinion.I use powders either to set and matify or simply as a nice finisher to polish the skin.Bluring is normally the goal and brightening is just the opposite of bluring.
However we must also admit that shape tape should be forbidden after 25😭😭😭😭😭

I love your channel Wayne! You are gorgeous and don't need makeup, however... I'm 66 now and over the years I fell for every sales gimmick going in the beauty industry! I now see most of it is smoke and mirrors... it's all a big illusion. And you are right... CT hates women over 40! hahaha...I have personally never liked, nor bought, any of her stuff as it also felt inauthentic. I'm not feeling Charlotte Tilbury products lately either. I agree something feels gimmicky about the pushes. The components seem luxury but the makeup within has been lackluster. I am only interested in the lip cheats lately. Thanks for a real review.

I am so impressed with the rose inc products (especially concealer). Their branding is more minimalist, lovely, and it is quickly replacing my CT.

Thanks, Wayne. I stopped buying from CT completely a couple of years ago. Nothing in their line worked for me anymore -- everything had become too dark, too warm toned, too orange. And they started cutting out products and lines that I really enjoyed. It has become a tiresome mess. A shame, really.

I don’t really use powder under my eyes. I am in my 40s. I bought an expensive eye concealer & it does the job as is (perfectly) - Sisley. Job done. Thanks for testing it out. Unfortunately it really doesn’t look good.

I had high hopes for this because I really like the Airbrush Flawless powder. But why introduce this product when the Airbrush Flawless is perfectly good at setting under the eyes? Actually the Pat McGrath Undereye powder has taken over the Airbrush Flawless for me. Maybe they were trying to copy that one… Who knows? Great review, as always Wayne ❤️xxx
