I love your matter-of-fact presentation as opposed to the frequently over excited, dramatic tutorials. Your videos are so straightforward and incredibly helpful! 💕
Yes. Wayne is so 'normal'. He doesnt scream, or laugh like a madman, or giggle with silly enthusiasm. Hes a real pro, a decent man I believe, full of humour and his video the right length. (The trick didnt work for me I have deep set, round, very hooded eyes. The worst scenario👀😆)
@@WayneGoss This is the way I have to do my winged liner since the last 10 years. I have the loose skin exactly in the same spot. I always do a bat wing shaped liner and extended outwards like you showed here. (Wow, I worked like a pro, can't believe it. 😉😄 I cursed my hooded eyes so often) Then I smudge the liner or use black eyeshadow to fill in the "gap" of the bat wing. That prevents the somehow zigzag appearance of the bat winged liner, when you are closing your eyes or you are looking down... Combined with eyeshadow it is looking nearly normal. What I would like to know: How can I use lid tapes in a way they are invisible? Mine are never completely invisible. And how do I get them to stick better? I have oily lids, and I can't use them with a concealer or eyeshadow base.
this is why i love him and lord mclean. the dramatized enthusiasm is fun every now and then, but i find i lose my attention span QUICK with that style of video
Sincerely, thank you SO much. It is so so hard to find a god tutorial for someone with incredibly hooded eyes. I just have too much skin for them to work. But this one was wonderful. You are amazing.
I also have very hooded eyes and I find tutorials for monolids work well on me! Ponysyndrome is probably my favorite Asian makeup artist to watch on youtube
Me too and my lashes are so sparse I can't get mascara on so, I just try to accept! I have always disliked my plain face but look at men, most especially when older, don't wear makeup- I'm trying to work on my I inner life! FOR HOW TO VIDEOS THOUGH, WAYNE'S TOPS...Namaste
My very stylish (British!) Godmother rocked Egyptian-like graphic eyeliner my whole entire life until she passed in her 80's a few years ago! Her signature look was: Platinum blonde curls, VERY full coverage tan Pancake foundation (I never, EVER saw her natural complexion, EVER!), BOLD black graphic liner, false lashes, light pink frost lipstick. People made fun of her "dated" style in the 80's, but she would fit right in TODAY! I wish I'd inherited her HAT collection! (I got her STYLE!)
Wayne Goss is the best makeup artist and teacher. I have learned so much from him over the years. Sometimes I come back and scroll through old videos for refreshers.
Wow... I just did it and I would never have tried it with my hooded eyes without this tutorial, I didn't know I could have such elongated cateyes ! It's gorgeous I'm going to wear that look everyday for the rest of my life ! Édit : Update, yes I have been doing it everyday for the last 5 days 😜
Great tips for a wing with hooded eyes ... thank you! Suggestion: What I have seen other creators do is turn at a 45 degree angle to the camera. That is, if you are working on your left eye, then you want the viewers to see that. Turn 45 degrees to your right, exposing the left side of your face to the camera. You can hold up your mirror straight in front of your face. When you switch to your right eye, turn 45 degrees to your left, exposing the right side of your face to the camera. I've seen this work pretty smoothly for people who are holding a mirror in one hand. If you're wanting to use a mirror on the table, you'd have to set that up somehow so it moves back and forth easily, I guess.
I knew there was a reason you are my FAVORITE make up guy! Thank you for showing how to do wings on very hooded eyes!!!! I thought I was going to go crazy thinking I'll never be able to use that look! I always wind up with a little "u" on the very corner of my eye! It was driving me nuts. Thank you, Mr. Goss! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I am 35 years old, and I rarely wear makeup, throughout my entire life I've always found it so incredibly daunting, this was brilliant and I followed along. Just thank you for being such a calm teacher with a voice like butter. Thanks for holding my hand in makeup spirit for an absolute noob!
THANK YOU!!! I have been looking for a tutorial for my extremely dutch hooded eyes (I'm part dutch) THIS WORKED! I almost cried my makeup off because I never thought I could look this pretty....I've always been made fun of for my extreme hooded eyes that I've tried eyelid tape and face lifting tape and even thought about one day doing eyelid surgery....this boosted my confidence! I'm only 39...Thank you Wayne!!!
Thank you!! I've watched so many how to do winged liner on hooded eyes videos and they're all a 0/10 for me, huge fail, but this one actually helped me! I, too, don't know how to hold my mirror to do my makeup and to top it off, I wear glasses; so, without my glasses, I have to have my face pressed into my mirror - even the 10x magnifcation mirror. It's always amazing that I can get my make up on at all!
I love everything you teach, you give the best efficient techniques. Love your patience and generosity. I am 62 years old and I look better because of you. Thank you!
Would love to see someone do these kinds of tutorials on different kinds of hooded eyes for demonstration. Each eye is so different and the teacher never has super hooded eyes so it’s hard to know how to make it work for you
wayne you are the absolute best teacher and the OG!!! it’s great to see you again. I haven’t been on for a while. What about raising the mirror up to the right level and placing one on ice either side of the camera? As though you had a trifold mirror without the center mirror. LOVE YOU ❤
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Finally something quick, simple and EASY. Something that actually makes sense for hooded eyes. ….also thank you for eyelashes info- been so confused about what style I should choose. Know what I’m gonna be trying this weekend.
i was born with extremely hooded eyes. afraid to see what it'll look like at 60- i think my lids may just hang over my eyes! they already do when i smile 😂
this whole video is a cry for help with that mirror XD very helpful though! i wish i had found this earlier in my years when i was starting makeup, eyeliner has always been impossible for me to do
OMG...what an amazing technique and results! Not sure I have the steady hand and patience to do this, but I'll give it a try. My mature hoods need all the help they can get!
Omg, I've watched so many videos and could not get it or I didn't like the video. But, you pop up and I'm flabbergasted and how easy you make it look. I cannot wait till tomorrow morning to try it out now to watch more of your videos.
Sweetest Wayne, love your presentations. The only advice that I can find for you, is to use a small camera attached to the top of your mirror, so you can have the mirror standing up in front of you. Lots of Love, you are incredible.
I can't believe it. I was finally able to achieve a wing!! I have severely hooded eyes and have gone years without being able to wear this look. Thank you so, so much, Wayne!!! 🖤🖤🖤
Thank you so much! You are the best. Liquid liner is the hardest freaking thing in the world and this makes it so much better and easier. Keep up the great work my friend!
I don't know of ANY OTHER makeup artist that I can watch and actually DO what you can!!: Your stunning and my deepest & sincerest APPRECIATION to u Wayne Goss your 1 of a kind and I adore you. And learn what to REALLY do with my makeup from u. Thank u so very much!! For sharing your gift with the world.
🥰THANK YOU 🥰 I TRULY appreciate how you explain and that you provide such straight forward advice. Totally love your humor as well, you make me laugh out loud while I learn your realistic makeup tips, you are AWESOME sirr!! Watching 20-30 year olds with "Cher" like eyelids provide makeup tutorials are what saturate the internet which is no help to young but aging women like me. Muchas Gracias 🙏
U have taught me so much over the years. U have been one of the few voices that stresses the importance of maintaining the look of femininity. Thank u for all u do😉
Wow! Game changer! I was a winged liner lady my whole life and 5 yrs ago it was like I lost it…because of my aging/changing eyes. Took me 3 tries but I got it with this technique, after a few alterations given my eye shape and wrinkles. Thank you , thank you thank you!!!! You are the best! ❤️
Thank you for this!! I am a “heavy hoodie” who has struggled trying to figure out a technique and this is IT! And, if you are accepting applications for the position of mirror holder-I would be your gal!
Wayne Goss I have been watching your videos for longer than I can recall. You're so knowledgeable and such a good teacher, but, the kindness that comes through the way you teach has been very therapeutic for me...I can't explain it properly. Thank you... For the knowledge that you impart and the kindness with witch you seem to do so.
Hands down this is the best video!! I'm 51 and starting to get the dreadful hooded eye! You gave me a gift with this video! you are truly the best at your craft! Much love 💕
Mr. Goss, You are a PHENOMENAL Teacher and Makeup Artist...I have hooded eyes and I will can follow Your tutorial when doing my winged eyeliner...All my Eyeliners are FELT tipped...Can You still achieve this look with a felt tipped eyeliner? YOU ARE USING A FLAT EYELINER BRUSH WITH GEL LINER? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS TUTORIAL...YOU'RE A GREAT TEACHER WHO HAS ALOT OF PATIENCE, WITH DETAILED DEMONSTRATION. I JUST SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL. •PAMELA•
Thank you so much for this tutorial Wayne, I have severely hooded eyes and I've tried a million ways to create a wing but nothing has worked, I'm excited to try this!! Thank you so so much you lovely lovely man ❤❤
i think they use a MONITOR as a mirror, so they have the camera and the monitor at the same place and they can see the makeup. i hoonestly tried to understand myself and it's the ONLY explanation i could find. secondly- THANK YOU, i tried eyeliner for years and i can't pull it off and you pretty much explained why! i'm using the wrong technique and materials! thank YOU
I'm going to my cousin's wedding next month and it's my first time doing my own makeup. Since I've never been one to wear makeup in the first place, and I'm a minimalist when it comes to it, this is extremely helpful for me. Thank you❤
I've only just recently been into trying makeup. I was watching other influencers do their makeup and wondering why I couldn't do a wing to save my life. I saw one of your older videos on hooded eyes and I was shook. I didn't realize that was my problem at all and I was immediately able to make beautiful wings for my eyes with your tutorial! Thank you so much
Thank you so much for this video. I’m trying to start doing my make up and I’m having a hard time with my eyes because they’re so hooded. Every other video I watched that was supposed to be for hooded eyes their eyes were nowhere near as hooded as mine.
The struggle is real with eyeliner, even for a pro like you, Wayne. Thanks for making me feel better about this because I’m always trying to perfect this with varying degrees of success and thought I was the problem.
Thank you so much for showing a step by step up close and personal tutorials. I am the type of person that learns best when I can see how something is done. I don't want it filtered or blurred. I want the real deal. Thank you so much...you are the best! ❤️
The one thing that I’ve found to be helpful is someone here on TH-cam has hooded eyes and she draws right through the fold. Meaning don’t lift your eye or your brow. Only people who don’t have hooded eye problems can do that 😂 us hooded eyed people need to draw right through that crease and then close your eye and connect it. Best thing I ever did. I’m going to watch this one too now because Wayne has some really good tips
Thanks to you Wayne, at 24 I've finally built up the courage to try a winged liner on my very hooded eyes tucked beneath a low, protruding brow bone . Thank you for your in-depth tutorials, I'm sure I speak for thousands when I say that you're amazing at the the teachy stuff!!
I really like your tips and tricks especially for hooded eyes. I have hooded eyes. That said, I would never use this particular tip because in my opinion it makes the eye look closed off and downward. Instead, I lift the wing slightly upward otherwise my eyes look like slits. In addition, I lift up the tail of the eyebrow to also lift it up. Again, downward closes up the eye and it only takes a slight lift to make my eyes more open.
Same here I do exactly the same it makes his eye look smaller than his other one and slitty we seem to know more about how to do it than him.. He doesnt like suggestions either have you seen his reply to a lady who did further up in this section . he completely blanked her suggestion Me thinks he has bit of an ego has our wayne ..Not nice and he needs to lose it !!
I ❤ your channel and I’m very grateful that I stumbled across your videos. Thank you for sharing your experience. Your mirror; l don’t know your setup so my suggestions may not work for you. If you are using a camera inside a ring light set up, try placing a small riser under your mirror to have the top edge of your mirror just under the edge of your camera. This will minimize the looking down and into your lens or view finder. The people that you see looking directly at the camera are filming on their phones and using it as their mirror. I hope this helps. I think the riser is all you need, or nothing at all. I enjoy your videos just the way they are and I hope you are only looking to make chances that make it more comfortable for you. ❤ I was watching more, move your setup closer to your body may help too.
At this point, I have to - per your excellent suggestion - start the whole thing from my under eye, and my hood is so extra now, that I'm almost going straight out - horizontally with my liner (which is always eye shadow, and never black, which is too harsh for me). Joining up the top later, and doing the fill-ins. Working with my under-eye real estate is something I learned from Korean MUAs, and while I do not have an Asian eye, functionally, I'm dealing with the same eye shape at this point. So appreciate your tutorials, W. You are looking particularly handsome in this one! Cheers!
Time and time again I come to you for actual teaching. I appreciate how thorough you are and that you ZOOM in so we can see the entire process. Thank you again for all that you do.
Don't know if the question has been answered yet but... For your camera/mirror conundrum. Lift your camera up just a few inches so it basically sits on the level of the top of the mirror. You could also bring the camera a touch closer to you as well. When you zoom in for the closer demonstration we can't see the mirror at all. Make small changes until you find a ratio that works for what you need. Thanks for teaching us these techniques! You da best!
It looks so easy when I'm looking your videos or Smitha ones but when I'm tring...I prefer with my fingers or beauty blender ...Except for my concealer or liquid foundation, thanks for your help then 🧡
It's so important to be looking straight on into the mirror while doing this so I have seen other videos where they have a big mirror in front of them that they can look straight on into and they have some type of phone stand or holder that is on the mirror but placed just below where they need to look. I hope that made sense. Katie Jane Hughes does this same technique and her mirror and camera placement on really good
Amazing tips my dear. You're the best. I've never been able to wear this kind of eye liner and I gave up but now I will try this. Greetings from Mexico. Xx
Oh how fantastic! I feel like I always learn something new from you. Btw, a trick to show the application process better is to position the mirror and yourself slightly sideways. You can lift the mirror higher (maybe over a shoebox or something like that), but usually sideways doesn’t block the camera as much and we can still see your face well :)
Most other makeup demonstrators talk about what they are about to do, or the product, looking 7:57 straight into the camera. But then they turn a bit to one side to do the procedure. Their mirror is usually off camera. I believe they have a mirror adjusted to eye level so they’re not bending over. Hope this helps! Love all your videos❤
I love your matter-of-fact presentation as opposed to the frequently over excited, dramatic tutorials. Your videos are so straightforward and incredibly helpful! 💕

What happened to the hats?
Sounds like you had a very Hip and Modern Grandma....That's so Cool!!! •PAMELA•

This is just gold, thanks Wayne. Would it work with liquid liner too? The severity of my hood is somewhere between yours and 'just being jules'.
This is how I do my eye liner everyday and I definitely have hooded eyes so this was validating that this is the right way to do things! Thanks :)

When do you do your eyeshadow? Before? Thank you!
I enjoy your videos soo much! Thanks!
Not only is this great for hooded eyes but a funky look too!
I have the exact same hooded skin! I had to laugh looking at other tutorials for hooded eyeliner on people without much of a hood! thank you :)
Your way to speak and explain are lovely!
Thanks from Germany ! 👍🏻🙏🏼
Cheers!
Thank so so very much Wayne for all of your incredibly helpful tutorials especially for those of us with these tips of eyes.
Time and time again I come to you for actual teaching. I appreciate how thorough you are and that you ZOOM in so we can see the entire process. Thank you again for all that you do.
This is great! So. I use a box and put my mirror on it to help it be where it needs to be. Or I attach it with an arm to a boom stick :)
I'm not really into makeup and mainly watch Wayne's videos just to hear his lovely voice. I wish he would narrate books on Audible.
I like Wayne with facial hair
Don't know if the question has been answered yet but... For your camera/mirror conundrum. Lift your camera up just a few inches so it basically sits on the level of the top of the mirror. You could also bring the camera a touch closer to you as well. When you zoom in for the closer demonstration we can't see the mirror at all. Make small changes until you find a ratio that works for what you need. Thanks for teaching us these techniques! You da best!
always giving us THE REAL deal
It looks so easy when I'm looking your videos or Smitha ones but when I'm tring...I prefer with my fingers or beauty blender ...Except for my concealer or liquid foundation, thanks for your help then 🧡
Smitha is so good for hooded eyes content!
Same for me ! Smitha and Wayne videos are extremely well explained but I’m still not able to do this … 😉
@@Amira-cc3id It needs time and practice I think...
@@siennad587 I don't have hooded eyes but I love her video too
This is the most detailed tutorial on winged liner for hooded eyes that I’ve found.
Xx
You are an amazing teacher, thank you.
