Hello guys. I recently had a look at the Starcraft Map editor and decided to make a quick video, showing you guys the very basics you need to make your own maps. Have fun and happy map making.
im new to SC and even newer to the map editor ....iv whatched your tuts, and several others as well and have as of yet to find a way to get the bridges to work none of my units will cross a bridge ....? any one please help
After 100% Theres a error below said "In order to access to this content, you must upgrade your copy of starcraft 2" How to fix this? Pls notice me I really need an answer for this I just work so hard on my map and just cant publish it. Pls notice me Bro!
I made my own map on starcraft 2, but I've come upon a problem. I have starter edition of starcraft 2 and I thought I couldn't test my map... but question is, if I can even play it, how do I play it? When I try to run the map, it says to either buy the game, or add game time. Help people?
Top left, you'll something that says map, I forget sometimes, but it's either in Battle.net info or in Map Info, one of those will allow you to change the description of the map, which will then allow you to publish it.
Depends on what type of map it is, if it's just regular melee sc2, use regular ai and roll with it, making actual ai that do stuff in a custom game, like idk, Squadron Tower Defense, will be hard, as I do not know how to do so either.
How do you change the texture set, like if I wanted to change from "Avernus (Space)" to something else after changing my mind although already started with Avernus?
Click on Map in the top left bar, and click on Map Textures, then add, remove, or replace a texture with one of your choosing depending on the dependencies you have.
I made my own map too. It was a pain just to get around the stupid region constriction. In the old Starcraft it took me a second to start the map editor and make a map in maybe 5 min and then play it. Here you have to type in passwords etc just to access the damn editor. Then you have to go into all manner of sub menues in the game for a custom game/map. By the time you're done you also need to publish the map to the Internet instead of just playing it on your own computer. Stupid. After all that effort you realize they tricked you into a paywall where you need to buy something Starcraft 2 related to get access to your own maps...
You can go into Triggers and create a new element, that upon Game Intialization, it runs the actions of Set Player Alliance to Shared Vision and Allied.
You can find it top left, in Map, I don't remember what it was called, but click on Team Placement will open up another thing that will have a tab labeled Starting Locations or what not.
The way you can enter SC2 Editor now adays is through the blizzard app, go to the Starcraft 2 tab, and underneath the Forums and Patch Notes should be "Launch Editor" click that to launch the editor.
AI, or Bots, require knowledge of being able to program an actual one, to do the things you want, I'm no programmer myself, and explaining things is something I am unable to do, if you're looking for just a regular sc2 melee ai, just add ai through the Player Properties in the Map on top left, and you should be set, if it's for a custom map, like Squadron Tower Defense, you'll have to have the knowledge of creating one to do so.

you've gotta put terrain underneath it, there's no real way to make your units cross the bridge unless you make a pathable terrain ground.

You press Test Document, it should look like a yellowish SC2 logo icon. The hotkey for it is either F8 or F9, my memory fails me.

Your Blizzard character, or your SC2 character. You need to connect it. When you publishing something it needs.

I have question: how to do or open map to testing units? once on youtube i see no buildings on map only units and one player could control both.
There's a map called "Unit Tester" on the sc2 arcade, I've only been on NA and seen it, but it should be there.

You can go into the "Map" tab and change the description there.

Downloading maps is impossible unless they are published, or the person themselves gives out the .SC2Map file.

You most likely either forgot your password and email and all that, try to contact Blizzard and get it fixed.
