Wow man ! Respect ! 💪🏻 In the cold with snow & ice, changing the roof from that Pete ! Keep up the good work ! Can’t wait till it’s finished........... I like it, watchin’ in my chair close to the heather 😜
Well TwinSticks, I been watching y'all since you started this one. So very long ago. And, I've seen you do all yer own work, on pretty much everything, except the gearbox rebuild. You did what you could afford, when you could afford. So, doing this roof cap, was saved until the more important and sometimes pricier things were done and out of the way. Right? So doing the cap now, was done now, because it was time and affordable, I would guess. It is called "Little By Little," right? And 'little by little,' some of us are just getting more and more jealous. Great job on getting the sleeper cleared out, fabulous job on taking the roof off. You could have called Bestop and asked if they had a convertible top for Pete's, probably not, but it would be worth the laugh, I mean try. Keep the vids coming Sir. Greetings from Ontario finally. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Best wishes for you and the family!
I was watching along as you started pulling into the garage and I thought to myself, that's about 2 gallons of water on that hood that is going to go straight to the shop floor!! Joke was on me, never melted!!
As a piece of advice: clean all the rust from the structure, use some convertors, epoxy primer, some paint and after that just use windshield glue to fix the cap. Will seal perfectly, its durable and easy to apply. But you must fix the glue. To insolate the sleeper and the cabin use some car audio sound deadening in two layers: firs one: some rubber and aluminium type such as stp or less expensive brands and the second one from closed cell foam type. Thicker the better for both layers. Hope you will read and consider the advice. I can help you with any details. Awsome job. I can't imagine the struggle to do all that work in the cold.
Little by little. I've been watching since you started and shared it with my brother and he watches also. Nice to see it coming back to life. Thanks for the great videos.
7 lights and horn delete, excellent choice !....might want to do the windshields while the visor is off, cheap and fairly easy. The cold will make the gaskets harder to work with though. " It's better than mud" : )....Keep up the good work!
I have a suggestion for your sleeper. You've mentioned in earlier video's that you are going to be using this truck for recreation, pulling your camper and such. Why not add some side windows to the sleeper, remove the bed and stick in a couple captains chairs or maybe a nice bench seat out of an SUV. It would make it nicer for family traveling. Just my opinion. That being said, you have done a fantastic job bringing this rig back to life. Keep On Trucking!
Again kudos for doing this alone and in the elements, always impressed. Your correct now is the time to insulate not only for the cold but helps a/c if you have it plus noise. Also if you're running a cb you could run 18ft of coaxial cable over the roofs or relocate to a single antenna of the back of the sleeper. ( cleans up the mirrors). Merry Christmas. 👍
I've been here since the beginning and I'm proud to see what all you have accomplished. Hopefully once I graduate I can start the restoration of my Grandfathers Mack B61. Keep up the good work!
Just fell on your channel 2 days ago. Since then I've watched every episode of you restoring that amazing Peterbilt. Trucks in the UK pale in comparison I love the old American trucks especially the 2 greats Peterbilt and Kenworth. Anyway its been a real pleasure to watch you so far. Its great how your daughter shows an interest too. Look forward to future episodes have a great Christmas to you all. 💪
@@adamfrbs9259 Yes your right Adam but there is just something about american trucks that does not exist anywhere else. I remember when I was a kid all my matchbox trucks where Kenworth and Peterbilt there where no European trucks in sight 😂😂 no its fair to say you guys build awesome trucks 👌👌
@@kadien2006 true, you should see the guy in Iowa, they don't mess around, beautiful Peterbilt trucks. I had Optimus Prime Matchbox and the bigger one too haha. Come on over the pond sometime, I'll take ya to see some cool trucks. Kinda a somewhat famous fuel hauler I see every week has a pretty amazing fleet of fuel trucks with all custom trailers. Round trip flights aren't too bad if ya book early enough, and you can crash at my place for free. In the summer though when the best truck shows are on.
Excellent!!! Maybe you can come over and do mine too! It’s just a day cab... lol You put a lot of inspiration for me to keep making these kind of repairs on mine!
Nice job Mark. Man I could just feel your tiredness in your voice and gasps when you removed the old cap and put on the new one. But great sense of accomplishment. Long day!
I love this truck! Also for some reason I really like the aged paint on the truck. The fenders being different color adds a really cool element to the truck too. Great job on this beauty!
Luv your determination mate. Definitely looking good so far. I've watched every episode and cant wait for final result. 👍 Avid viewer from over the pond
This is evidence of a determined engineer starting an epic restoration and seeing it through, big respect to you my friend👍🏻 I’m in the UK and just love cold weather so I can relate to you working in the elements, my middle lad is in Oz and keeps telling me it’s so hot and I should come over there but nope 38/40 degrees C is a hell for me sir! However please keep the videos coming as they are awesome
Good work, TwinSticks! It would be nice if you had a friend close by that you could have went in together on your old truck restorations and shared in both the cost and work. Many times two hands (and heads too) are better than one and definitely faster. But you are getting it done by yourself anyway. Also, maybe a couple of scaffolds or a folding ladder with a bridge on either of them would be useful for working on the high spots so that you did not have to put that wooden thing on the hood. Keep up the good work!
It's good to see the progress you are making on that beautiful old 'Pete. She's going to be a real looker once you're done fixing her up! Merry Christmas!
I've been watching your channel from the very beginning. You have come a long way and have had to do most of the work in the snow. I can't wait to see the Pete finished and project Snowman started. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I've been following along since the beginning... I've learned so much about these machines. Very good videos... It's probably too late, but I'd fix all the metal rust issues around the roof top, especially the visor panel, before putting the roof back on... It looked like there was some rust going on on the passenger side window frame.. Just like the roof replacement.. Do it now, and don't wait until later. It'll only more difficult later. Good luck
As you said "little by little" great vid as always and yes you certainly earnt your JD today! Have a great Christmas and roll on a warm dry new year! 👍
I'm glad that fit without any trouble! You are probably going to have to take the sleeper off to get the huck bolts in on the back side. If you go back to the video where you were fixing the roof before the sleeper was on, you will find my comment telling you to quit wasting time patching the roof and to replace it before you went any farther. I worked in a truck repair shop for a few years and was wondering why you putting all that stuff on just so you have to take it off again. I admire your tenacity to keep at it though. I know you were just excited to get her rolling. If it were mine, I would go ahead and get all that frame work for the roof and overhead console cleaned up and painted before you put the roof on. Way easier to take care of the rust now than when the lid is on! Can't wait for the finished product though, gonna be a nice ride for sure!
Merry Christmas sir! Phenomenal job on the roof cap R&R. Look at it this way, at least you now have a blue snow sled that can fit the whole family. Have a Beam and Dr. Pepper on me! Proud of you sir.
Lol just as I was thinking " Ummm ..you should be wearing a mask" you said mentioned it. So many don't know just how serious that even the micro dung dust can kill also.
you had 3 episodes when I started following, great work, I've learned a lot from watching you. I hope you didn't get spark pits in the window glass from using the grinder. keep up the good work LBL will a truck anyone would be proud to own.
Some jobs are tedious, like this one, but regardless if it should have been done, it's done now. Looks good, and you can clean up the area where it fits --- rusts and scale and so forth, and move on to the next task. Rectangular horns and round headlamps....I never thought about it I guess. I like the rectangular headlamps regardless. Hopefully, no more varmint homesteads now. Looks real nice TS.
That's a 379 model sleeper. can tell by the look of the interior, I had a 1987 379 when first came out. the big opening didn't come until 1994 when went to the Unibilt system.
Great job on this old classic, Can't help but wish you had stuck with original style air cleaners. New ones look great but the originals were Northland Classics & let every one know it's not your average Large Car. I drove a truck like that back in the day hauling cattle from Alberta to Washington St. It was 359 built just before the change over. That truck is still roaming around southern BC with a few million miles on it.
Paul Robberts Yeah, finally someone with a bit of sense, was waiting for someone to make that comment, instead of wasting all that energy to take the cap up, then down, when everyone knows it’s gonna fit, they wouldn’t be in business if they didn’t fit, spend the time getting the cab rust free and perfect first. 😃👍
Well at least the W900a is alum cab with fibreglass roof from factory! I spray foamed the inside of my w900a fews years ago I donno if it helped with the sound but at least there is less places for the mice to live!!!
Check into auto body panel adhesive instead of huck bolts. Might save time and aggravation. Spray the inside of the sleeper with truck bed liner, should work as a good sound deadener.
I know some may argue with me on this but I’m old school And I think trucks with the horns makes it a real truck. That’s what people see and want you to do is blow the horn. Train horn are fun but not the same. Still enthralled vids and restoring.
Watching this in 2024 makes me sort of nostalgic. Its easy to forget how far you have come, Mark. Keep it up!
Man youve got some determination and patience. You deserve every bit of pleasure you get out of this truck, you worked your knackers off on it.
Nice goin with the kw style button tuck upholstery 🤤🤤🤤👍👍👍👍👍
Wow you are an animal!!!! Great job I can’t believe u tackled that huge job all by yourself !!!! Again ...great job my friend
Your wife must really love you to let you work so much on your Pete. I can wait to see it finished
You make awesome vids

Great job on the roof. I know it's hard to do by yourself but great job.......👍
Great job lots of hard work there
