So true- and it’s oftentimes in the people you’d least expect. I am marrying my little brother’s best friend in 13 days. For years he was my annoying little brother’s sidekick, went totally unnoticed by me. Even my younger sister had a crush on him once, and when she told me, I was like “ew really?” Obviously that crush eventually faded... but anyway after years of being indifferent around each other, we fell in love one night. It was our first time ever spending any time alone together, we were drinking jaeger on the driveway in Florida. We were on a vacation with a group of friends (well, my siblings mostly, we are all very close), and everyone on the trip had their significant other with them. We were the only two without a boyfriend/girlfriend. Anyway, the couples all fought and went to bed and we stayed up, talking and drinking. The night ended with a drunken make out session... and the next day I remember being totally smitten. I wasn’t embarrassed or disgusted at all like I thought I would be... I actually really liked it. We continued to secretly make out and stuff for a year, then went on another trip to the beach house that officially sealed the deal. I was so apprehensive at first, he was so not my type, so out of left field... two weeks after making it “official” I finally mustered up the courage to say “I love you.” He said it right back immediately, and I knew then that I was going to marry him. I was truly in a state of shock, it is amazing to me how God’s plan and timing works out even better than we could ever imagine. He is the greatest person I have ever been in a relationship with and he has already been a “part of the family” for years. I am just feeling so blessed. Sorry this is so long but I hope people reading never feel discouraged in their search for love. I was in a long and serious relationship in college that ended very badly... I was so upset, I was “old” and thought I would marry that man... it’s funny because after that breakup I moved in with my brother and his friend (my now fiancé) and to think he was already with me at that time is just crazy. Now at 30 I get to marry a man that is far, far superior to my ex in so many ways. We have a foundation that I know will last us a lifetime. He has seen me at my best and my worst, and he has seen the “real me” for the entirety of our relationship, since I never felt the need to impress him. My point is that someone is out there for you, someone you might never have given a chance. Nick (my fiancé) is/was sooo not my type, but it turns out that his type is exactly what works for me, whether I like it or not. I had always dated total loser scumbags and I was not used to someone so kind and genuine, so fiercely loyal and supportive. It has been an amazing journey and I pray for all of you out there that you find your perfect soul mate! 13 days people! I get to marry the most wonderful man on earth!

I spent the majority of my life being told to suppress my emotions that lead to crying. From my parents, to older role models, the military, and anything else that stated tears equal weakness. I'm getting married in 10 days and I'm very nervous about showing my emotions in front of everyone because I know I'm going to cry. I don't even remeber how l looked the last time I cried. I just needed to say it here because no one I know will find my comment.
There are certain situations where tears may be considered weakness, but this is not one of them. These are happy tears of love, I think everyone can appreciate a strong man who shows his emotions during particularly touching points in their lives, like their wedding or the birth of a child.
