Alain James -The thing is, Clint is also an immortal spaghetti western hero, a writer/director and all-round cool guy. The average 'technically brilliant pianist' is only that. 'Feeble' is the usual sort of critique the armchair critics of youtube use. Shaddap.
nakedmambo - I do not deny that Clint is an "immortal spaghetti western hero". "Cool guy"... a matter of opinion. But as a piano player, a hack. But you are free to listen to it if it means something to you...
Alain James - well it must have for you if you clicked on the video. Or was it just to post superior critique? I agree that he is no great pianist, but he's not awful. At this stage in his life he likely doesn't give a hoot what unknown nobodies on youtube think.
When I was in my late 20's ....I used to meet Merv Griffin at the Burbank Airport and I would fly with him in his plane to Pebble Beach and he would play tennis with Clint Eastwood and I would play golf at Spy Glass. What memories.
It cracks me up that someone actually referred to Clint Eastwood's playing as amateur. amateur. Honestly, I play. Been playing for a while. This ain't amateur :-) this cat is Talented all the way around.
Casey Moo The original definition of amateur is someone who plays not for money but self-development or enjoyment of oneself or others. He's not a pianist by trade I believe, so he's an amateur...to say that he has deficient skill...I agree, that just ain't right. People on the internet have their opinions ready thinking they're the arbiter of truth.
homer151 good point and well stated. I love the interview with (Ray; actually watched that several times before I discovered this video:- )) Man----Art Tatum!
Clint has a good ear and knows how to write as well. The musical talent is in the family too, because Kyle Eastwood is an excellent bass player. Loved hearing them both talk about Art Tatum. I've heard from several people that Art would teach anyone if they brought the beer. My friend Wayne Wright was a gifted rhythm player that played for Peggy Lee, George Barnes and got Les Paul out of retirement and played with him for a while and he said that he studied Art's harmonization and felt that he was the greatest.
Singularly outstanding! What a pleasant and exciting surprise to me, it was, when I purchased the CD ; "Clint Eastwood After Hours" - sublime piano playing by Clint Eastwood! He's incredible and divine on piano here, to say the least. I always placed him in a box of mega film/movie stars only. I always knew that he was a jazz collector cum appreciator, but playing "After Hours/C E Blues" is a cherry on top. Good revelation it is for moi(sic). A big up to Clint Eastwood. Yeah, it's never too late to learn and improve your life in a big or small way. Play on Clint, give us more musical surprises!! Incidentally when I bought the CD - "Clint Eastwood After Hours",(many years ago) It was driven by curiosity and guttfeel, do you catch my drift? Theo Kgapola {Benoni}
In the corner of my mind, I remember a Jazz musical with Clint playing the lead, I thought he was dubbing the piano work, turns out he wasn't. I don't remember what the film was entitled.
Clint Eastwood a tous les talents mais quelqu'un sait-il de quelle version Clint Eastwood s'est servie? J'ai la partition originale de 1940 de Avery Parrish et elle est très différente de la sienne. Merci.
Look up Avery Parish and Erskine Hawkins if you want to hear this played right, not hideously wrong. By the way, Ray Bryant and Dizzy Gillespie and two guys named Sonny also show how its done.
***** I dig jazz more than you know. Rock&roll and blues too. Clint Eastwood adds nothing but naive and ill-considered decoration to a composition that is perfectly decorated without it. HIS interpretation sucks. I like Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, the Original Dixieland Jass Band, Mound City Blue Blowers, Miles Davis, Art Blakey, Adderly Brothers, Jay McShann, Lester Young . . . I can continue, if you like. Art Hodes, MJT+3 . . .
TomParmenter haters gonna hate. Stop hating on Clint dude. Can you play the blues? Can you play the piano? Any of those players you named woukd be humbled and thrilled that Clint Eastwood has an appreciation of jazz and can play it. All you can do is act the snob.
In my theater appreciation class my teacher said that Clint Eastwood started out in musicals on broad way do you have any videos or know where I can find any, it is probably hard because this was in the 1950s but there has to be one somewhere.
old clint made good movies and shows with money ya can buy yor way into cranberry hall pretty blase , no wrong notes anyway judging from the comments here , more than adequate for the american hero whoreshipping public he should be jamming with the college kids on tuesday night maybe get better eventually
I can tell a clumsy, crappy arrangement of one of the best piano solos ever recorded. I know that. I have been listening to jazz all my life. Clint's "interpretation" sounds like me "interpreting" Tagalog, a language of which I have no knowledge. OTOH, it's just TH-cam comments. Everybody reading this can listen to both versions. Nobody's going to go back to Clint for a second listen. If you want to hear an actor play 'After Hours', try Hugh Laurie.
Le grand Clint! au piano et jouant du blues !Yeaaaaa! chapeau bas, l'artiste ❤
Clint Eastwood is the master !!he is genious and i love him!!!👏❤👍💞💖
What a man ❤
Such a great guy, may he go on for ever.
Are you kidding me?! I just have a whole new appreciation for this mans talent.
Lesson: Don't be a one trick pony!
Is there no end to this mans talent ..................
いそしぎ
Yes. There is. And this feeble demonstration is all the proof you need.

A most gifted man. He has given us so much to remember him by.
Thank you Clint.

Preachin' the blues ! Excellent playing from Clint and the guys.

Clint, sei stato e sarai sempre il migliore.

Theo Kgapola {Benoni}
Well the good ,the bad and the ugly this man has them all
He made my day. Lol awesome.
This tune is a Jazz musician's favorite,especially pianist's.
Most famous example is Ray Brayant's. Clint Eastwood is such a talented man.
I think he was originally a trumpet player. Great actor, director, understands music for sure.
From RAWHIDE to a world of awesome films and concerts, "Trouble with the Curve" one of his latest and greatist ........
Love him did,t know he played how wonderful and his son is a fantistic
jazz musician WoW.
finally! video of him at it.
What a great Finish!!!
surprised the heck out of me very good, better than expected
In the corner of my mind, I remember a Jazz musical with Clint playing the lead, I thought he was dubbing the piano work, turns out he wasn't. I don't remember what the film was entitled.
Robert Dicks Probably Play Misty For Me.
Cool old man!
living Legend
Made my day.
Mr. Clint is similar to James Coburn's OUR MAN FLINT but in his own meticulous way... is as enduring as triplets....
Clint Y'all. Like Peter told Paul, "Dis be Clint Y'all"!
I don't care if pianists think this is good or not. I wish I could play like this.
Smith, western and me!
Cool cat Clint
clint cbaby rocks!!!!!!!
The bass player is his son Kyle Eastwood
Thunderbolt and Light Fingers.
This really made my day!
Thanks for sharing
So you are not only a good cowboy,a very good piano player.
Play it now Clint. Play that stuff
A Fistfull of Ivories.
Did that chord I just played have six notes or only five... GREAT STUFF!

The Good, the Bad, and the Blues.
I knew he played but never heard him!
Great, Ty for sharing!
sounds good
Wow I had no idea he could do this lol!
I just found this out today. Very cool. Gotta love Clint Eastwood, "The Good"
Clint Eastwood a tous les talents mais quelqu'un sait-il de quelle version Clint Eastwood s'est servie? J'ai la partition originale de 1940 de Avery Parrish et elle est très différente de la sienne. Merci.
Awright!!!!!!!! play that piano........... :-)
I taught Clint this tune....
Cool 😉
Look up Avery Parish and Erskine Hawkins if you want to hear this played right, not hideously wrong. By the way, Ray Bryant and Dizzy Gillespie and two guys named Sonny also show how its done.
Pinetop Perkins has a nice cover also.
The Avery Parrish cut is often called the Blues National Anthem.
rose eller Blues concerto.

TomParmenter It's a naive, unimaginative arrangement.
Tough cop, cowboy, general bad-ass and pianist. Not a bad resume.
In my theater appreciation class my teacher said that Clint Eastwood started out in musicals on broad way do you have any videos or know where I can find any, it is probably hard because this was in the 1950s but there has to be one somewhere.
This is completely false. Eastwood started out as a contract player at Warner Independent.
If there is..me wants to see
Much better than expected. Enjoyed it very much Clint. How long you been at it now?
Ole Dirty Harry,He kinda Cool,
what is the song he is playing would love to try it !
He not only plays, he can shoot too.

genioooooooooooooo
I can never find any video of Clint playing piano? WTF!
❤️👏🏻
O Baby O Baby O Baby O Baaaby, "Piano Blues" ...mmmmmmmmmmm yeah..give it to me O Baby, let me hear you O Baby, and les mingle O Baby.......O yeah...
I had no idea he played piano blues style.
Wow!!! Yeah he's good tonal wise but execution needs to be louder
And a little more "in the pocket"...
He's not exactly Pinetop Perkins
Good, Bad, Ugly, who cares - he can actually play!
Rule number one. If you can't come up with a good joke, don't bother.
dat audience
Horrible out of time clapping (as recorded). Nice gloss on Avery Parrish original also on YT.
old clint made good movies and
shows with money ya can buy yor way into cranberry hall
pretty blase , no wrong notes anyway
judging from the comments here , more than adequate for the american hero whoreshipping public
he should be jamming with the college kids on tuesday night maybe get better eventually
i thought this was gonna be a fucking VIDEO
Clint Eastwood é um grande diretor, mas como ator, é tão ruim quanto pianista.
clap, you jerks. classic composition, which he is playing wrong.
For that matter, I suppose Ray Bryant played it wrong too? Just dig the damned music.
It's jazz. If somebody likes it, it's right.
***** If it makes me want to puke, it is poorly played.
TomParmenter
So puke, and move on.
