I'm amazed at how much I love the mini, it's so portable, convenient and just the right sized screen to comfortably read and consume media it comes everywhere with me.

This video encapsulates everything i keep telling everyone about the iPad Mini. Don't let that small size fool you. its diminutive size will make you use this device almost as much as your phone. incredible and affordable device!
I have the 2018 12.9 Pro and find the Mini 5 the perfect complementary iPad. I needed to replace my old Kindle and this came out at the same time. Decided the extra cost was well worth it. Never thought about a Mini until a friend in Malaysia said he used a 4 for reading. Now I find I use it for most reading, (books,newspapers, articles) forums, Twitter, TH-cam, etc. With iPad OS I believe I can transfer all my work needs and photo processing from MacBook Pro with Brydge, hub and externals. For throwing in a bag, portable with camera, reading and reading in bed and more the Mini is perfect. I didn't think I'd ever use split screen on the Mini but I live in split screen with slider on the 12.9 so I do find I use split primarily to copy/slide into Messages. The suggestion for slider in IOS 13 is great too.
I have installed public beta (2) on my older gen 1 12.9 but won't on the Mini until another 1 or 2 public betas but look forward to that (and wait even later for my workhorse 2018. 12.9). So glad I bought the Mini-2 iPads make sense for me since I use them quite differently and they suit 2 different purposes for me. The form factor of my XS Max means I use it quite differently from the Mini too.
BTW I have a Soke cover-similar to Smart Cover but does cover back, sides and has a loop for gen 1Pencil-and only weighs ounces. Good alternative.
Based on your recommendation I bought an iPad Mini 5. Love it, great resolution, great for reading and so light. Thanks!

I have never had an apple product and i've never had a tablet. Being an android user for a very long time (since the very beggining) i am kind of inclined on getting this ipad mini... it looks to be super fast and fluid and my gateway to experiment on apple products and try out ipad os.

+1 for the multiple iPad videos and why you need them. I have the 11” iPad Pro and bought the iPad mini 5 when it came out to use as a reader, media consumer and gaming iPad. I primarily use the Pro for school and work but I find myself reaching more and more for the mini to do things I would normally use the Pro for.
I have the Pro - and love it, but I don’t like traveling with it...so the mini is a perfect supplement. Better form factor, and decent productivity performance.
I’ve been using my 256 Gig Gold iPad Mini 5 since April twentieth. I love it! It’s so much better than my 16 Gig Mini 2!

That thing right there, editing right on the external storage, THAT, will make it a real contender for ANY laptop. iPad OS is already a massive upgrade for a fenced off company like Apple.
I used it everyday since the day I got it in April, I totally forget my laptop. I can easily use almost everything on mini 5, like watching korean dramas on Dramafast, Netflix, twitter, games, notes app, i even added IXL app for fun, i use it with pen even. it's amazing. I even use SMS message and FaceTime as in communicate with others who have iphone, its free. I don't even iphone anymore, i give it away years ago. i TAKE MINI 5 WITH ME, EVERYWHERE, EVEN OUTSIDE. i'm in love with it. it make me forget wanting iphone latest phone. im okay for now. I don't go to school for now but when i go to uni, i will use my laptop for obviously reasons like typing essays, but will definitely upgrading mine to ipad pro 12.9 if i want some seriously note taking. Mini 5 is good for short note taking but not for essays or long note taking, iit is too small for my hand, but is perfect for watching stuff or using apps.
iPad Mini 5 is my dream device: small and have Pencil support.. until I found out it can only support max 11 layers vs. my iPad Pro 2017 max 26 layers on Procreate with A3 size 300 dpi. I know, I know they're different, but still..
That being said, today's students have no idea how lucky they are in terms of note taking and studying style.

have ipa dpro 12.9 and some times I wish its smaller, but when I use it to watch videos while playing PC and editing videos and Photos I´m glad its larget... I might get a used mini.

You have to install the iOS 13 beta version. I did and it's awesome!
Sidecar is coming to the iPhone. I have the dev beta and get the option to connect to my iphone. It doesnt work currently though.
nice review thank you very much, but I don't know why but nobody talks about what kind of external hard drive or SSD drive or flash drive can accept iPadOS. I heard that there are some limitations, you can't plug just any external hard drive or flash drive and be happy. what can you say about this ?????

I completely agree that more than one iPad is a great idea. I have a cellular 2018 iPad Pro 12.9" and a cellular iPad Mini 5 that fits my work/life balance just right.
Please make the multiple iPad video. I have a 2017 10.5 pro, but I want a mini to use as a notebook in my purse AND next year plan to buy the 12.9 pro as a laptop replacement. Thoughts?
Updated my mini 5 to iPad OS beta 13.1 and noticed the option to pin widgets to the home screen is gone :( ... It's a shame because I was really liking that feature before the update. Home screen widgets are still available on my iPad Air 2 so seems like they are disabling the feature on smaller screens. Major disappointment.
I’m rocking the same peak design sling 5L! I’m actually able to somehow fit my 11” pro in it along with my Sony RX1, Osmo Pocket and other stuff, but the perfect fit of the Mini is really making me want one...
I own an ipad pro 2018 12.9 inch but I’ve just received my ipad mini 5 and honestly it’s probably going to replace my pro, the portability and the software is just as fast as my pro. Glad I have both but if I was going to stick with just 1 device it would be the mini 5 for sure.

I wasn’t worried about the performance, I mean the a12 chip is just a beast. But having all those powerful performances on just such a compact, portable device got me a little worried about its battery life. I had heard from several people that it couldn’t reach the battery life of 10 hours apple claims to have. Is it true from your experience of using?
