But a non treated bore either nitride or chromed DOES BOTHER ME. It is a deal breaker for me as a hand out option. I was interested right up to that point being made.

Thanks Mike, After watching you and Rob, I bought one for my kid as a birthday gift. Of course he loves it, I too wish it was chrome lined, but it is what it is.
The main difference now comes down to wear and tear. There's no real way to measure this, because it greatly depends on cleaning habits, ammo choices and the shooting environment, but people do say that chrome lined barrels last a little longer. Most of the numbers I've seen people referencing are within 3,000 rounds of each other. Personally, I chose to go with a non-lined barrel because I was able to get a brand I wanted for the same price as a lesser brand's chrome lined. The accuracy observation also helped me in my choice, but realistically this rifle will greatly outshoot my potential.
Has century arms stepped up their game in the past 5 years or somthing? They seem to be pouring out good stuff now I must have mentally blocked them out years ago and never looked back.
@@AEC123 I bought a BFT47 after Rob at AKOU4774 ran one through the wringer and it came out still kicking. It is accurate, various magazines fit well, and has that reliability AK is famous for. Recently fitted a Polish laminate wood set on it, much better! Also had an old Yugo milled parts set kicking around and put on the pistol grip, cleaning rod ( Century rod threads won't fit original kits), even the bolt and carrier swap. Yes I Guaged the headspace. I like it.
Being an avid AK shooter, I enjoy shooting my WASR 10 I have had for years. It is like a faithful companion. There were only two mods I did to it. One was installing an adjustable stock. And two was adding a buffer(I know you have seen them. small chunk of hard rubber that sets just behind the bolt carrier). Some people say it doesn't do much but I say it does take out a little off the slamming of the bolt carrier group. I still shot with the open sights and can ring the 12" gong at 110 yards every time. Just plain fun to shoot. And I do enjoy you videos. Keep up the good work.

@Jon M npaps have been around for a long while and they have 1mm recievers and normal trunions and they were perfectly fine? Zastava had an excellent track record. If you seriously think Zastava makes bad AKs you should probably crawl out from the rock you have been living under
I've always judged an ak at 50 yards covering a nickel to a quarter at 50 yards. That said cover a pie plate at 300 yards. 5 rounds each. Iron sights. Basically if you can hold a 5 inch group for an ak at 300 yards it's a decent ak.

I like how my bft47 holds various magazines, firm but not tight, with little slop or wiggle in any direction. Polymer or Steel it hasn't met a mag it doesn't like!
I have never liked century arms...even when they were selling the M77 which is my favorite rifle! I gotta say the verdict is in on the BFT-47 and I think century arms has finally made a rifle worth having!
I'll never buy anything from century arms. My c39v2 had issues with the barrel pin backing out. I contacted century and they said it's not under warranty since I had it longer than one year. I could press the pin back in with a tap of a hammer. I sold on arms list and NEVER buy anything with century arms stamped on it.
When you stacked the 1st 3 shots on top of each other I was like no freakin way this is happening... LOL I've spent a good bit of time shooting groups with a PA 3X and 5X prism at 50 and 100 yards. With certain targets especially with the 5X I can hold really good groups but I have to try extremely hard with the 3X... Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
I’m glad American companies are building AKs. They are getting better all the time and eventually they will make AKs as good as the imports. Been shooting the wasr10 now since early 2000s and still today. Mine was straight and true. I also have a WBP jack and it’s a prom queen for sure. Probably the nicest stamped AK I’ve ever seen.

I like standard AKs due to them being lighter and any standard AK parts will fit. Zpap is heavier due to more steel and proprietary parts. But both are good running AKs. Wbp makes one nice looking AK… almost to nice. I feel like a don’t want to scratch it…🤔

Century needs to go back and look at their Romanian SAR series. Not pretty, nothing fancy but they run and run and run. Hammer Forged barrels, chrome lined, etc.
I own a Zastrava ZPAP M70 and it's constructed much like the BFT47, that is, heavy duty and as such it is a heavy rifle as well. But I feel that bar none the ZPAP is as fine a AK47 as you can get. And me personally I prefer a stamped reciever vs milled. That just seems more " AK " to me, and yes Mildred, I love my ZPAP. Quality is second to none and it too, like so many AKs,reliability has been/is 100%. The 7.62 X 39 round is a very, very fun round. I have approx. 2000 rounds of steel cased ammo, 1000 rounds of Bellom brass rounds, 500 rounds of brass reloadable ammo of some european mfg., and 500 rounds of brass ammo that I loaded from all new components. I previously sold an NPAP to aquire my ZPAP and my NPAP had a single hook Tapco G2 trigger that was bar none EXCELLENT. My new ZPAP has a trigger that is not near the sweetness that my Tapco was, but it is OK.
PSA is a good starter AK. They are inexpensive, come in many options, and mine has better fit/finish than my RPK. If money isn't any issue then pick something higher quality. Zastava, older rifle dynamics, KUSA, khyber pass, or better yet, an old Russian import. For most shooters, the PSA will be all they need.
I agree with the weight. Lugging it around most of the day will wear on you. Sold my Zastava Bulged Trunnion for that reason and happy with my PSA 103 FN barrel.
So you’re saying normal shooting would never reach or exceed 10,000 rounds? Also, is 16” the length for AK rifles? Was that the first barrel lengths they were issued with or has the American industry decided that 16” is the magic place for it?
I'm kind of an AK "snob"but I'm glad century hasn't given up. Sounds like they have a winner here for the most part. I for one hope one day Americans will be known for making the best AK's in the world 👍
I think century and zastava still have a bit of a relationship and this is their love child. Just AKM pattern for typical accessories. I don’t mind being called an AK snob…. Just baffles me with all our superior American tooling etc we don’t have anybody producing a decent copy of a third world staple. “Romanian” kit builds… ok sure rivet it up but still poorly made. I’m sure you know the usual suspects who easily jack them up.

Got my WASRs, Got my Yugoslavs and got a few PSAs all of which work great. After century’s track record and their refusal to admit they made a few dogs with the C39 and more I just don’t trust the company anymore. The Yugoslav AK bulged the trunnions due to higher pressure from using grenade launching. This century might use the bulging due to lower quality metal
No love for century around here. My vska is up to 3 or 4k and run so hard I nearly caught it on fire a couple times. The only time it has failed is when the buildup of carbon gets around 1/16"(15-1800 rounds). All corrosive ammo and really treated like crap. I was impressed.
I have the walnut version. Haven’t shot it yet but lookin forward too. The only things I might change is the selector and the bold carrier, not real big in those lightning cuts.

Around 100 total rifles. They are replacing them. Sounded like a heat treatment issue. Point is that they are standing behind their product and are fixing the issue.

My only complaint would be the grip, not my cup of tea, easy fix though, just waiting on the new one to be shipped out.
Okay, so I'm on the fence... BFT47 or Pioneer Arms Forged Series AK-47 Sporter Rifle?? Leaning towards BFT but I value your insight.

I got the BFT47 and I like it. I think it's gonna be a little more beefier than the Pioneer, depending on what deal you can get it's really up to you.
Sorry. You'll never talk me out of a newer generation Zastava or PSA for a century made anything.
I'd wear an altyn helmet and lvl III body armor before even casting a GLANCE at one of Century's cheap "AK" knockoff hand grenades.
Just buy a Zastava for 1k out the door.

I own a Zastrava ZPAP M70 and it's constructed much like the BFT47, that is, heavy duty and as such it is a heavy rifle as well. But I feel that bar none the ZPAP is as fine a AK47 as you can get. And me personally I prefer a stamped reciever vs milled. That just seems more " AK " to me, and yes Mildred, I love my ZPAP. Quality is second to none and it too, like so many AKs,reliability has been/is 100%. The 7.62 X 39 round is a very, very fun round. I have approx. 2000 rounds of steel cased ammo, 1000 rounds of Bellom brass rounds, 500 rounds of brass reloadable ammo of some european mfg., and 500 rounds of brass ammo that I loaded from all new components. I previously sold an NPAP to aquire my ZPAP and my NPAP had a single hook Tapco G2 trigger that was bar none EXCELLENT. My new ZPAP has a trigger that is not near the sweetness that my Tapco was, but it is OK.

PSA is a good starter AK. They are inexpensive, come in many options, and mine has better fit/finish than my RPK. If money isn't any issue then pick something higher quality. Zastava, older rifle dynamics, KUSA, khyber pass, or better yet, an old Russian import. For most shooters, the PSA will be all they need.
Im not a real big AK fan but with all the different AK videos everyone keeps posting im kinda starting to want to get one. Lol.

I agree with the weight. Lugging it around most of the day will wear on you. Sold my Zastava Bulged Trunnion for that reason and happy with my PSA 103 FN barrel.

So you’re saying normal shooting would never reach or exceed 10,000 rounds? Also, is 16” the length for AK rifles? Was that the first barrel lengths they were issued with or has the American industry decided that 16” is the magic place for it?

I'm kind of an AK "snob"but I'm glad century hasn't given up. Sounds like they have a winner here for the most part. I for one hope one day Americans will be known for making the best AK's in the world 👍
I think century and zastava still have a bit of a relationship and this is their love child. Just AKM pattern for typical accessories.
I don’t mind being called an AK snob…. Just baffles me with all our superior American tooling etc we don’t have anybody producing a decent copy of a third world staple. “Romanian” kit builds… ok sure rivet it up but still poorly made. I’m sure you know the usual suspects who easily jack them up.
The BFT just got a recall a few days ago, so I wouldn't say it's a winner yet, but they are definitely closing in on making a decent rifle

Got my WASRs, Got my Yugoslavs and got a few PSAs all of which work great. After century’s track record and their refusal to admit they made a few dogs with the C39 and more I just don’t trust the company anymore. The Yugoslav AK bulged the trunnions due to higher pressure from using grenade launching. This century might use the bulging due to lower quality metal
Demolition ranch does a pretty good torture test on these rifles.
My one and only question to you is, would you personally buy one of these???? Because I wouldn’t, the Zastava zpapm70 blows it away imo !!!

The thicker/ heavier receiver with the bulge at the trunnion are all features of the larger Ak style rifles like a RPK, PSL and Dragunov receivers

No love for century around here. My vska is up to 3 or 4k and run so hard I nearly caught it on fire a couple times. The only time it has failed is when the buildup of carbon gets around 1/16"(15-1800 rounds). All corrosive ammo and really treated like crap. I was impressed.
I got one about a month ago I'm quite fond of it... See if you can get your hands on the Sig 320 10mm !!! Please!!

I have the walnut version. Haven’t shot it yet but lookin forward too. The only things I might change is the selector and the bold carrier, not real big in those lightning cuts.

Around 100 total rifles. They are replacing them. Sounded like a heat treatment issue. Point is that they are standing behind their product and are fixing the issue.

A couple thousand rifles is really nothing compared to the issues left largely unaddressed by other companies. Sig probably still has thousands upon thousands of P365's out there that still have primer drag, for example.

Very good quality for the price point!! Iv owned most of your higher brand names and they all run the same!! No joke !! Most of these companies mass produce them anyway!! They all have bad apples!!! The BFT at 745 usd is very fair!! And My BFT has 2000 plus rounds with perfect head space no visible ware and has never jammed or miss fired!! It was dead on at 110 yards!! No adjustments needed!! Some Ak people are dumb as rocks!! Your higher brands run the same!! No matter what anybody thinks!! Its a proven fact!! Good day fellas!!🫡
Do century arms weapons still suck? I come from the past of 7 years. When they had that little tiger pattern on the wood of their AKs, which was kinda cool.
