There are several import AK options right now that are from military factories, the ZPAP in Serbia, the Arsenal from Bulgaria and the WASR 10 from Romania. I take a look at all three of these AKM's and choose my favorite import AK.

I'll stick with Zastava. Highest quality for the price and they actually listen to US customers. Oh, and they're actually obtainable.
Agreed, only downside to Yugo is the lack of aftermarket support. Its better than years past, but still limited. Love my Yugo as well!
@@Welder6131 It is getting better and better every day, we won't have to worry about that any more really.
@@Welder6131 I think if they continue selling like hot cakes we may see a boom in aftermarket support.
Sort of obtainable if your fast at punching in credit card number when they come in stock
@@wesleywilliams8111 agreed...midwest industries probably has the best lineup of rails and such. Been running a magpul stock for a couple of years now and still like it.
I can't believe the current prices for WASRs. I remember a few years ago at a gun show deciding between a WASR and a GP1975. I passed over the WASR due to the canted front sight and picked up the GP1975. They both were at the $400 mark. Now I know how my dad felt when he used to tell me he could buy a loaf of bread for nickle.
I remember seeing them too at $399. They sure have gone up.
Back when I first started buying guns you would find WASR 10's all day long for around 500 bucks new. Shits crazy how much they've gone up in price.
Prices are still at psycho levels. Century Arms is gonna "burn bridges" with that Romanian Company, Cugir, very soon. Already did with Zastava.
WASR10s don't really sell anymore. The FFLs I go to are practically trying to give 'em away now.
I bought one back in 2020 for $650 and it was honestly a good deal, the rifle is put together well and I have about a thousand rounds through it and it’s not choked up yet. But yeah I don’t think I would spend one thousand on one
I remember when you could buy a Norinco sks for 65$ lol
I owned a Zastava before, I would buy another one without a second thought. Sweet rifle.
@Mike Gee what's that have to do with Zastava?
I have 2 M70AB2. Definitely great AK and overall firearm
@Mike Gee eyy another guy running a 20" saiga! Got mine setup with a folding galil style stock so it becomes easier to store.
I have a Zastava M70-AB2 underfolder that I got from Century, back in about '08
Only thing "wrong" with it is the sights are canted. But, as MAC had to do in this vid, I was able to zero by adjusting the front post pretty far over...
After that, I've got *zero* complaints-- and I'm a former US Army soldier with AR experience!
As a matter of fact, my AK has been way more reliable than *ANY* M-16 the Army ever issued to me... fwiw
@Mike Gee *Armchair General,* there, much Mike? Lmao! 😂
First, the rifle (in question) was a *brand new, never been issued* U.S. Army M16-A2.
It was also well-maintained-- I know, because I was depending on it to save my life!
Never the less, it jammed on me in the field, because it got dirty on an escape and evasion course, which resulted in me being "killed"... There isn't always time to stop and clean your weapon "on the run."
On the other hand, my lesser expensive (paid $450 @ the time-- another reason it was great) Yugo M70 has *never* jammed, no matter how high the round count. And, believe me, I've tried-- because of the above mentioned (^^^) experience...
And, yeah, I agree with you that it was Century's poor manufacturing standards that allowed a weapon to be sold with canted sights. Even so, I'm hitting the target at about 150 yards, with a 2-3" group-- with *canted iron sights!*
*But then, that's what sets the AK platform apart from the AR-- even with lower standards, a decently built AK will keep you in the fight when a thousand plus dollar AR decides it doesn't want to work anymore cause it has a little carbon on the bolt*
God I hate import bans.
@GastonGross Polytech.
I support them in only that there are regimes who should not be profiting off of anyone, let alone the Americans they hate.
Thanks Bush Sr. (R)!
@Brian Hess If you can't see why our countries enemies military industries profiting off American citizens is a security issue, then I feel sorry for you. I'd like to have a Molot Vepr or a Polytech for a reasonable price but it's worth not having to see the CCP and their allies denied the profits. I try not to support any company, foriegn or domestic, that doesn't support basic civil rights, the United States Constitution, or does support an ideology that I don't agree with. Any person that values their own freedom should do the same but most of us are cheap, shortsighted, and selfish.
@@boomerisadog3899 Are you joking? The AK market for Kalash in the USA was a few million dollars like 0.1% of sanctions. It was an Obama era ban that was a backdoor gun ban and was doubled down on by Trump because of... Muh collusion or something..
PLEASE STOP TELLING PEOPLE ABOUT THE ZPAPS SO I CAN BUY A DAMNED MODEL WHEN THEY POP UP FOR 30MINS.
Lol I feel your pain. I had hell trying to get the new model in wood when they first came out. I managed to sneak a order for one with poly furniture before they announced the upgrades were across all the models. I simply replaced the crappy polymer furniture for some better stuff.
Going to arm ALL the Space Wolves with them?
@@OEFvet0311 yes
yes just stop ...
🤣That's the AK I would pick too. Just seems higher quality.
My first AK is Arsenal 7.62 x 39 Sam7SfE. I roughly fired almost 2k rounds with 4 types of ammos and never had any issues. Accuracy, I just learned that you have to find the ammo that will closely match with you and your rifle. I just ordered my Zastava zpap m70 maple wood etc. I’m excited to be owning 2 of the best ak’s out there. I like to have a vepr too someday. I just recently put a 3x primary arms scope on my arsenal and it looks gorgeous. I’m pretty sure it will also look great with the zastava.
Hello, any updates on how the zastava is doing?
Funny, never been a AK fan. I was AR all the way but I walk it to a small gun store last week and ran into the ZPAP. The quality was amazing. I didn’t even mined paying the inflated panic buying price because the craftsmanship was so good!
I got one as soon as you could after the 94ban, it's heavy, plain and simple. I want a Zpap or another m70, as soon as the prices drop due to ammo prices being so high
And best of all. the prices will go up again and you've made a profit.
Just ordered one today for a steal lol
The video reviews are all a couple years old, when the price was $799. In 2022 it took $1075 to get the walnut stocked version. I had 3 WASR 10s that I paid $300 a piece and sold them to friends for the same price. I've had 25 AKs and foolishly sold 24 of them. The ZPAP is a very nice traditional AK. The Valmet RK62 was a better rifle, but it wasn't traditional.
@@dondineen110 I hear you on those prices in 2022 I just bought mine two nights ago but luckily only paid $992 online, still when it comes into my FFL and I go pick it up Uncle Sam is going to bend me over for another 80 plus in taxes so I'll be right there with you in that price
Solid advice - the Zastava is probably the best value for an Import AK right now, if you can find one for a reasonable price...
From what I learned there are no deals to be had. My dealer where I ordered a Zastava paid $1000 to get a walnut stock model. He is letting me buy it for $1075. That is just the price one has to pay in today's market.
@@dondineen110- live in California, so most of my options are online website where they cost from 1200- and up lol. This doesn’t count the fees and dros
@@dondineen110 bought one yesterday off my dealer for $1030, he showed me his invoice he paid $989 for it. I've bought over 150 guns off him so he treats me right
The Zastava M70 will be my next firearm purchase. My ZPAP M92 Alpha is built like a tank.
I bought the WASR about two years ago and I'm glad I did. In the region I'm in, pretty much only was seeing AK's that Century Arms was bringing in. I'm definitely not a fan of the light colored, and light weight wood they used on it but I replaced the front stock anyway with a rail and the cheesegrate. I fitted it with the RS Regulate mount and Primary Arms Cyclops with the etched reticle and a laser/light combo attachment. So far it seems to be pretty good and I avoided the issues that Century's other AK's had with the bolt carrier being too soft of a steel. Present day though with the buying glut of guns over these last 10 months, I doubt an AK can be found where I'm at.
Happy with my Saiga 5.45. Wish they still came in. I realy want a Zastava.
I’m right there with you man. I chose the M70 and not because of price, but because of build quality. Mine is a great shooter and I got lucky with my front sight. It’s probably the straightest I’ve seen on an import AK. I run the ALG trigger and the Fighter break and man… she’s a beast.
Does your ALG wear on any internal components? I've heard the trigger steel is harder than the bolt carrier.
Agreed... The Zastava ZPAP is my favorite import
Complementary scratches... Lol
Gives it character.
I'll take a scratched wasr over a pristine RAS47 any day
Honestly, with all of the aftermarket parts available now, the ZPAP isn't too difficult to customize. That being said, I own an SLR-107-11 and I love the rifle to death and I have it customized to fit me and I can say that it was much easier to find parts for it and is my preferred rifle. Love both of them, but I think that this subject is too subjective and people should simply buy the rifle that they want for whatever reason(s). Looks, functionality, price, collective-appeal, etc.
Awesome video, MAC!
I bought a ZPAP M70 about a month ago. Had it out to the range for the first time today. Love it!
I should be picking mine up on Saturday. Archangel stock.
@@Catgat37 I'm sure you will enjoy it.
If Zastava USA is listening to their customers, then they'll install the Russian-style optics side rail. And one thing to know...use BOILED linseed oil on the wood. Linseed oil will never dry. Personally, I would use tung oil, which when several coats are applied, will result in a very tough, durable satin finish.
Best oil to use on an AK stock is Magpul lol
I would use olive oil. It's delicious.
Zastava Arms USA actually use boiled linseed oil
Sanded mine down, applied red mahogany minwax stain and finished with 10 coats of Tung Oil. Took about a month and a half but I love the result.@@TC-bq3ve
I use Frank's red hot...I put that shit on everything
I own both and I’m with you the Zastava is the way to go. The new one anyways. It’s a tank and shoots great. Love your videos and thanks.
2024 just snagged another M70 and wow they’re nice! Zastava USA is cranking out nice stuff
100% correct. Ak men view a rifle as a tool. Not worried about changing things. That's a AR thing . AK works and does what it's supposed to do period. Being a Veteran I know what they can do. My father in Vietnam used a AK. He always said it works when what we was issued didn't. Great video thanks 👍
How was he consistently supplied 7.62x39mm for that while in 'Nam?
I have a M70 Yugo , runs like a champ. My favorite I have is my Krink SBR in 5.45 👌🏻
I recently got into 7.62x39 and have been buying whatever rifles are available in my area. First I got a few SKSs. The first AK I got was a VSKA. The second was a WASR. And just recently I was lucky enough to get my hands on a new Zastava ZPAP M70. It absolutely blows the other two out of the water in terms of fit finish and quality, and shoots better out of the box than the two Century rifles. The difference in ergonomics is not to be understated; the Zastava is much more pleasant to shoot with the stock and handguard it comes with. I'll keep the Century rifles just to round out my pattern collection and to have something to compare to, but I'll never buy another Century AK after shooting my new Zastava. Its night and day between the two.
This just puts the biggest smile on my face, just ordered my zpap a few days ago right before Serbia announced they will inevitably seize the importation of their rifles to the U.S. I'm beyond excited to get mine. Great information!! Awesome video.
I have WASR 10-63 that has been an outstanding rifle. It is my "go-to" rifle while I'm camping. (And I'm typically an AR guy)
I have been wanting to pickup another AKM type rifle but was considering the PSA varieties. Thank you for making the decision tougher.
Ive been an ar guys for years and just recently started researching aks because i dont have one. I decided on the Zastava because everything i saw was very positive. And the AKE was nonexistent and was my first choice. This video just solidified my choice. Thanks for the video
I agree with your selection of the ZPAP. AKs have a solid history of accuracy and dependency in all environments and terrains plus they're extremely resilient and dependable. For me, comfort, weight and recoil are the top factors when choosing a rifle to shoot at the field. Glad you enjoyed reviewing the AKs and hope to see more cool content like this in the future.
You should really try out the WBP Fox, it’s a solid Polish import with forged trunnions and an FB Radon CHF CL barrel.
ARcoholic ARcoholic truth
I have had nothing but good luck with WBP solid well built stuff.
There should be some rifles hitting the market again pretty soon. They just had a shipment of the pistols. Which don't really need any work done to them when they arrive. So they can go straight out to distributors. Unlike the rifles which ship with no furniture and a single stack magwell that has to be milled out .
@ARcoholic ARcoholic But they have FB Radom barrels and the whole rest seems to be rock solid.
And a custom gas port the size of a silver dollar.. at no additional cost!
I love my WASR the front sight has basically no cant, and arrived damn close to zero. Feels very solid. Maybe it had to do with the year, or maybe the builder in Romania at the time was less hungover than his coworkers.
Thank you for your detailed and informative video on the 3 AK' rifles !!! I'm happy that you chose the M70 , I have fired 800 rounds through my M70 with no issues also bought an extra set of firing pin and bolt extractor because those two parts will eventually wear down over time shooting thousands of rounds through it and when SHTF happens those parts will be impossible to find !!! 😊
Finally bought my ZPAP this week. Built very well, and there are more sider rail options out there now, just need to find a short one.
Tim: I pick the ZPAP
AK SITES: OUT OF STOCK. NO BACKORDERS.
you got to sign up for their email notifications. They release some every couple weeks but you gotta be ready to buy the second you get that email
I have an older Century O-PAP. I love it. I have had no problems over the years. I would like to buy the Z-PAP, but panic buying it screwing with the market.
My Npap is absolutely fantastic. Never touched the irons and they are dead center. I threw some MI furniture on it and now I have a great handguard and MRO on it. Even found an 85 degree grip that I painted cherry that is the most comfortable rifle grip I own now.
I love my PSA - AK GF3, no complaints and runs like a dream
I have a gf3 and a gf5. I like em both but I'm going to sell the gf3 and put it towards an import.
No joke, I’m sitting here cooling off from my range watching this. I’m comparing my (recently purchased ) ZASTAVA and an old friend...Rak47 (modified to the point that its not even original parts). First off, thank you for your time and effort in your pursuit of AK Knowledge to us (Mrs MAC too!!). Second, I would love to see you and Rob Ski talk about your knowledge and respect for AKs. And third....well, keep on keepin on my friend. Again, thank you. Knowledge is power.
I’ve been waiting on this one. I own two Zastava’s and I would have to agree. They are the best balance of quality and price. The proprietary furniture thing doesn’t bother me that much, stuff for them is available.
I just picked up a new ZPAP from Atlantic Firearms a few days ago. Price was $899. Can't wait to get the call from my FFL to pick it up! I am waiting for the PSAK-E to come back in stock so I can give it a try.
Thanks for your videos Tim!
How’s your PSA doing? I just snagged the GF5 would love feedback. The E has better bolt and carrier
I love my new zpap m70 and the fit and finish is beautiful! It all comes down to quality for me but I want that at a fair cost. Great choice Tim.
I watched the video on Zastiva. They put a lot of extra work to make them 922 compliant . Worth the price.
Really happy with my Zastava ZPAP m70. So far it's been flawless and the midwest industries mount for T2 optics rocks!
Evey time I watch an AK video I am so glad I bought all my AK-74's when I did years ago. I miss the Arsenal/FIME Russian made rifles.
I like the triggers on the Zastavas.
I just like the feel of them.
That and they are not s US made compliant part so the metalurgy is the correct hardness for the carrier tail impact. Check out Robskis latest video where his ZPAP has almost zero deformation on it because of the Serbian made trigger.
I remember the first time I had a zastava in my hands and noticed the weight and sturdiness , the finish was way better that I expected
Nice rifles.😊
I put the fixed triangle stock on my original NPAP and wrapped some paracord for a cheek rest. Much more comfortable than the wood stock. Bought it in 2013 for $550 and it runs like a sewing machine. At the time I knew nothing about AKs and I am really glad I picked that one up. I liked the way it looked compared to other AKs on the market then. I remember being at the gun show and looking at an NPAP vs an IO inc, and I really dodged a bullet.
I Bought my WASR 10/63 back in 2012 and its ran like champ ever since I bought it, and I've never had a issue at all.
There's is no can't in the sight or anything and she is a straight shooter, and will eat anything.
I'd have to agree with mac the newer ones just aren't what they use to be but they'll still deliver.
If I had to choose one I think it would be the fully semi automatic ghost gun that doesn't have recoil because the bullets shoot so fast.
they only sell those in Communist California with a 30 round per second clipazine

I shot a arsenal 107 at a training class one time and really liked the gun. Couldn’t find one locally. After about 18 months I finally bought one. Still have it and love it. It has been a work horse around my land. From predator control to home defense. Love my Arsenal.
I ordered a zpap as soon as I could! The 1.5mm receiver, cold hammer forged barrel, and chrome lining had me sold. I REALLY like this rifle. I was very pleased to see the results! That being said, I did scour the internet looking for a comparable priced 107. No luck. I’m really glad I got the one I did! Thank you for the video! I also purchased a WBP mini jack and I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on it if you can get one! Thanks again!
what do you like more now, the WBP or M70? is the WBP heavy?
You did a Video on a VEPR 7.62x54r a few years back and I got one. Then Russia, Russia, Russia, the last few weeks and seeing AK's on the news. Your review and my research on Zastava. Shot it today...AWESOME
Baptized my Zpap today and lemme teeeeell YOU. SMOOTH! Action is amazing, recoil is just fine no complaints and of course not a single malfunction or hiccup. Cant wait to feed it more! Keep ya emails on notice yall and getcha some Yugo/Serbian greatness!!!
Hey Nate wanna be my hype man? Ahaha regards from Serbia pal
I love my Veprs. Bought 2 from Centerfire couple weeks before Sandy Hook. $450 ea. .308 & 762x39. Heavy for CQB stuff but incredibly reliable. ALG triggers are main modifications. GG&G side mount scope. Well made. Accurate. Blast to shoot. Biggest mistake I made was not buying 100 and 1000 Bakelite mags when they were couple bucks each.
I'd like to see you take out all your century arms import guns and compare quality throughout them.
Both WASR and Draco are built in the Cugir plant.

I like my Zastava OPAP. It has a 1.5mm receiver and buldged trunion like the ZPAP; with fine military surplus wood furniture. It's a good performing solidly built rifle.
Love my OPAP. I got tired of the mismatched wood on mine and eventually Archangeled it to support a red dot.

I would say the Arsenal. It’s lighter and standard furniture and rail. Oh, and bayonet
Tourist
Arsenal of today isnt what it was in 2007, id say get a wasr or if you dont mind the extra weight and having to use yugo parts, get the new m70. I say wasr is very good because they have a lot less issues than they used to, MAC just got unlucky altough it seems the underfolding models are the only ones that have canted sight issues from what im seeing at least, not sure why, fixed stock ones are rare it seems, and i got mine a few months ago and have about 1k rounds through with no issues, almost perfectly zeroed out of the box
I agree. The Arsenal is just a better gun overall. I look at sustainability in addition to initial quality. The Arsenal is a standard-spec AK. It will accept all standard AK furniture and all standard components and accessories. My concern with the Zastava is that the spare parts will dry up. As such, I'll choose almost any standard AK over it.
@@WardenWolf The important components you should worry about like the bolt, extractor, and springs are already cross compatible with all 7.62x39 AK's. Furniture is literally a non-issue unless you are someone who likes throwing their AK's around a lot on the ground, against trees and walls, etc. Even then there is a lot of surplus and aftermarket furniture for the Yugo's.
@@WardenWolfThe only "spare parts" on a Zastava that would ever possibly dry up would be furniture and rail mounts. Big whoop. Those will likely never break either. Everything else critical to function is AKM compatible.
Rob Ski: "The mighty WASR wins again!"
Great review. The PAPs have dominated my AK collection in the last 5 years. The M92 was good but the M85 is such an affordable 223 AK that is fun to shoot. And the M70s just seem so smooth to shoot that I love taking them out. Watching this makes me hope that Zastava makes a AK74 because I need one.
Ain't happening for Zastava in 5.45...but you can get M90 in 5.56
Traded a 43x for n pap. Loved it. So when a z pap was in my gun store that i go to, i didnt hesitate , bought it without question. Awesome rifle
I have the latest zpap, rivets are fine and love shooting it. I decided to keep the wooden grip as I’ve come to really like that as well. My June 2020 Built VSKA is almost as enjoyable to shoot. Maybe the first batches were bad but the S7 tool steel is as tough as hell & I keep my barrel clean. Happy with both purchases.
Is that really you in the profile picture?
I have had great luck with Arsenal AKs, both SLR and SGL. My favorite AK is my side folder SGL21. That being said, those ZPAPs look solid, the only thing keeping me from getting one is the lack of compatibility with AKM accessories.
Yea but now since zastava is getting so big so fast theres plenty of accesories
Agreed 👍 out of the 3 imports you have just shown that ZPAP is my choice 👌
Adding on to what you said about people saying they had bad rivets with arsenal and manufacturing. Even the two highest quality firearms manufacturers in the world, Swiss arms and B&T have warranty and repair departments
The WBP Fox is my pick.
First thing I thought when I saw the title. Kind of disappointed there's only 3 rifles, maybe cause WBP didn't give him a rifle?
Aspen Air I know! Why did he leave the polish imports out?
Agreed
If you find one in stock hit me up.
At current market pricing for a Fox, might as well spend the extra $100 and buy an Arsenal.
I lucked out and snagged a chromed barrel and polymer furniture equipped m70 ZPAP right as they came into stock the other day. $949.99 isn't unfair, compared to all these people trying.to sell second hand wasrs and dracos for 1000-1500 on armslist.
I would go with Zastava as well. It would be nice to see them add a couple of variants to the lineup though!
Day 2 of research and videos and I'm still shell shocked about how many people are ousting the arsenals with the newer M70 ZPAPs. Unreal. Great video!
I have a WASR 10/63 and it's a great shooting rifle. Romarnia AK is best AK...
The video in "4K" is really good. I didn't think there would be such a difference between 4K and 1080p. On a 4K TV the images are so sharp. Also, 4K is 2160p, which is significant increase. Unbelievable in the equipment and TV's today. Could it get an better? I do like the Zpap's too. It actually looks good with the Walnut furniture. I have an extensive collection with no AK's in it. I suppose I should pick one up. I had to pay $50 for 2 decoy birds (an Owl and Hawk) to attempt to chase away some woodpeckers. So I don't think $750 is so bad for an AK. Stupid woodpeckers, I just built a beautiful and large deck in my backyard. Now the woodpeckers are going to town on it.
I have 2 of the underfolder NPAPS. I’ll never buy anything else. Amazing quality, accurate, beautifully made
Nice. Do they make a side folder?
The never made side folders
NPAP’s are not very good. May look good, but they are known for some terrible malfunctions including soft/squishy receivers.
I have a WASR10, for an Entry level AK, it's a Tank, easy customization for any need, and the reliability thus far is amazing, with just around 10k rounds thru it, I have zero defects popping up, some flattening on the rear lug of the Op Rod, but that's to be expected, the flattening hasn't progressed any further than what it was after the first 1k rounds.
You definitely helped me choose between the Arsenal and Zastava ZPAP M70 but I would have loved to see you include the WBP Fox (I'm looking at the Galil Side Folder as an option) and while I realize that particular model is not a traditional AK, I think it's a lot of gun for the money and would love your opinion on it. I'm going to search your vids now to see if you did a separate review on WBP because I'm really interested in the Polish offering...
Great job on the comparison though!
Thanks for the comparison as I've only owned one civilian semi AK. A Norinco that I bought back in 83'. All my others have been with military Russian, DDR, Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian, Chi-com, Hungarian, Yugo and Iraqi.
Love my arsenal sam7r, owned others and shot many and hands down love my arsenal.
I purchased my SAM7R in 2013 and it has been rock solid for me too. My sights were good and F&F has been excellent. I just wish I could upgrade to a folding stock without major modification.
@@cnick6 I bought one around the same time. Mine had the quad rail which I really didn't like so I put Magpul furniture on it and also converted it to a folding stock. Check out Texas Gunsmith videos on TH-cam; he works on the same model. I also had mine ceracoated to avoid the paint bubble issue. Nice shooter.
@@rickalexander2801 Hi Rick. Yeah I saw his video long ago. I almost modified mine but chickened out back then. I might look into it again. I guess I was afraid of missing the original stock assembly. I also was thinking of getting a WASR folder instead but it looks like those are gone once again. ;o)
Great review. I've been waiting for this exact review. These have been the 3 main 762 AK imports for some time now, and the new upgrades to the Zastava PAPs certainly are a bit of a game changer. My only question is have the metallurgy issues been figured out? Only time will tell. The Cugir WASR's are just great workhouse AK's and can still be found cheap on the secondary market. Personally if I had to choose one, I would still go with the Arsenal 107R every time. Besides the name/reputation, I like that it's closer to the modern AK-100 series rifles (minus the folding stock) with little things like the 90° gas block, 1mm receiver with milspec paint over parkerized finish, and correct dimples & siderail. Word on the street is the Arsenals won't be imported much longer either. Which could make them an excellent future investment.
I think the older Yugoslavian or new zastava usa rifles are the best AK styled rifles you can buy. Even their SKS is the best of the SKS rifles. They just do it right. I bought an M72 carbine RPK from James River Arms. It's its own animal.
I wish the SKS was still produced.
This was a good video. I have an EAA imported Zastava PAP sent it to RGuns to have the Magwell work done since it was neutered from Clinton. I am glad you and others guntubers give the Zpaps their dues.
WBP Fox for the win
Love my fox, great finish sight is almost perfectly straight, with just the slighest cant. Im struggling with putting a nice set of wood on it, or leaving the plum furniture on it.
I just picked up a WBP Mini-Jack and it should be here soon. I'm still waiting on the Fox's to be available again, but they go FAST!
@@shojus They do. With not much work and parts your in a full size AK for around $850. I would put them on par with Arsenals and with the lack of quality in them lately ahead. Easily a $1000 rifle
@@shojus How did that Mini Jack work out for you? Atlantic has them in now and I am tempted to grab one.
@@glent5659 Grab one, mine has been awesome!
There's lots of lightly used AKs on the secondary market too. My personal favorite is the Romanian SAR-1, which is the model that predated the WASR-10/63. They come with no bayonet lug and plain muzzles, but are easy to thread for the standard AK 14:1LH thread pattern. Unlike the WASR-10, the SAR-1 has magazine well dimples and a double stack magwell from the factory.
Yes I have one also and I'm very happy with it .And at the current prices ,and being 66 it's unlikely I'll be getting a new one .
MAC, I hope your shoulder heals soon so we can get you up off that bench and see you doing some mobile shooting! As much as I love your channel (I'm a Patreon supporter) watching anyone shoot from the bench is about as boring as it gets.
The Galil ACE is not an AKM but I still think it's the best pick to "buy once, cry once"
At that point why bother? Just get a nice AR or other modern rifle.
Of course now I want the Zastava and nowhere has it available!
I agree with you I like the thicker receiver and the bulged trunnion.
Arsenal all the way I just need that standard furniture and rail system. I like to have all my options available when possibly customizing my firearms.
Too expensive though
I agree with you 100% on your pick (Zastava). Zastava is the best AKM going, period. My only beef with your review is the comment about the proprietary furniture on the Zastava. Yes, that’s true, but it’s just as true for the Arsenal, maybe even more so if you’re looking for classic wood furniture. Overall, great review! Love your content! Thanks!
The arsenal takes standard akm furniture. Zastava is not an akm, its an ak variant actually closer related to the rpk than an akm with its bulged trunnion and 1.5 mm reciever
I love the Zastava ZPAP. Great rifle for the money!
Zastava all day! I’m tickled with my M70! Awesome tool
I’d rather go with a SAM7
I've owned and loved my 10/63 for almost 15 years. But I agree with your decision. I would love to own and cherish a zpap. Another great vid!
Spot on! Love Yugo firearms, extremely well made. Problem is, Romanian AKs take standard furniture. Sure wish I could get a palmswell Tula foregrip on my ADM. As always, terrific review!
IDK my 2018 WASR is basically perfect, zero is center, mag fits snug but not to tight, no fitment issues, did swap out the blonde for something more pretty lol and it turns heads at the range. Got it with a Bayonet, Frog, Lanyard, Scabbard, With 1000 Rounds for $850
Personally I’d always have to go with the Arsenal especially the 107R it’s been rock solid from the get go.
JKay11235 I’ve put over 5,000 rounds through my 107R and never had an issue. I always try to remember that old phrase “You pay for what you get”. Now if you only put maybe a 1,000 rounds through a firearm a year you an get away with a cheaper AK.
Milled or stamped arsenal?
Wasr is better than the damn 107. But a milled sam7 is thee best production milled import.
JKay11235 big difference in 1,500 versus 5,000 in about a 6 month period.
jOhN DoE please not even close! But I’m not here to argue about what rifle you think is better, I don’t care what rifle you like I just stated my experience with the 107R.
So happy I bought my Zastava NPAP in 2015. The next generation in ZPAP are great changes for the US market. Definitely one that I want to add to my collection to show the differerences.
Now I feel cheated...my '13 WASR's front sight stayed centered when zero'd. :p
I have one WASR that didn't require me to pound the sight all the way one direction. LOL
@@Militaryarmschannel You sold me on the PAP, should I decide to get another AK. :)
Pete Sheppard buy American PSA AK they got it right with the gen 3
I've had Arsenals in both calibers, both from Russia and Bulgaria...
I've had PSA's in 2 sizes,
and Romanian SAR-1's (way back),
a James River Armory AK with "finned" barrel,
and perhaps more AK's that I've forgotten about....
But since I've gotten the ZPAP M70 from Zastava, I've come to believe that this AK-47 is the best of all worlds. Rugged, strong, built solidly and well, priced right, and now you CAN accessorize them....
I put an adapter on mine to attach an AR-15 A2 stock, and Zastava sells a full-length rail/handguard system for just over $220, and it's great! (they also have a shorter railed handguard for the minimalists). Additionally, RS Regulate and others now make optics mounts that fit Yugo-pattern rifles, and you can get night sights (front and rear) from XS Sights and Meprolight (possibly more). And yes, the Magpul AK-47 grips DO fit this rifle.
Mine also takes all the AK magazine variants I have, which (sadly) I cannot say about my PSA's. 😞 I also put a VG6 Epsilon muzzle brake/flash hider on the end, and it does indeed reduce recoil (without changing point of impact). It took just 5 rounds to zero it out of the box, and it's accurate enough to hit sporting clays laying on a dirt berm at 100 yards (iron sights).
So, I'm totally happy with this ZPAP M70. I'd absolutely take it "fighting" and not worry about it at all. I used to have my doubts about the "PAP" line of rifles, but I'm absolutely "sold" on this one.
Happy 10/63 owner here, especially after hearing him say they are better quality than the new wasr's
Same here. I love my 10/63
Same here. Just wish it came with a better trigger.
Yea I just wish it had mag well dimplesbuy I've had no problems finding mags that fit nicely.
BassFishingNEB magwell dimples don’t have anything to do with magazine fitment. They’re for reinforcing that area of the receiver. The WASR has plates welded in that spot of the receiver to accomplish the same task.
Oh ok! Right on then. I seem to have gotten a decently machined well then
An interesting choice of AK-s for comparison, considering that Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria border each other.
I guessed right with the ZPAP. Out of those 3 I would also go with the ZPAP. Partly based on what you have said about them and partly because of what Rob Ski AK Operators Union has said about them.
