Amazing it needed a whole new fusebox!!
I suspect in time it could be repaired, but I understand it's way faster to swap it out.
    - oh I caught the end now - expoxy filled fusebox - doh!

Great work and explanation as usual Ryan. I notice many of the comments complaining about the all pervasive technology in modern cars, I am sufficiently old to remember moaning like fuck about electric windows - what’s wrong with a bit of exercise and using wind up windows?😉👍🤣

Good job on fixing your own van. Would have been a bit embarrassing having to take it to a garage to fix it!

Thanks Ryan, for this informative pair of vids.Years ago, all my Astras had looms made by AMP , very good quality, the only thing that failed on these cars, and cavaliers was the fuel pump relay , at an exorbitant £11 😊, but to my consternation, the last but one had its loom made in China .But so far , so good.I wonder who made your box ....... bet it was nt Chinese but nearer to home , no names just guesses 😊

Funny with the steering angle calibration on the Focus, just diagnosed a Ford Ranger 21 plate AdBlue warning on dash saying tank is empty and would not start.
Checked AdBlue tank and it was full but live data was saying it was empty.
Ran adaptation for AdBlue fluid tank level but made no difference, I read on a forum that you need to perform a steering angle calibration and upon doing so the AdBlue tank now reads full via live data, all warning messages disappeared and engine starts!
No clue what the steering angle sensor has to do with the AdBlue system.

Very informative and interesting Ryan.. What a shame that the engine bay fuse box isn't repairable .. I thought all these initiatives being pushed was to cut down on waste and the throwaway culture ? I see on some vehicles that resetting the steering involves doing a lock to lock then returning to straight ahead to get the correct position readings.

Great vid. Regarding the scan tools, just wondering why you went with the Topdon Xlink? It's just I notice you can pick up the Launch X431 PRO 5 with the Smartlink 2.0 for around the same money right now. Obviously both tools seem to use the same software near enough, but is there better functionality or coverage with the Topdon I wonder? Would love to hear from someone like that ke yourself who's actually used the Topdon. Many thanks.

Hi Great question, Since my first videos uploaded to the channel i have always used topdon. Once recognised they reached out and supplied me with the X -link tool
I dont really have a preference and both are more or less very similar, I have used launch before at my old workplace and it was very capable.
I suppose i just like the brand more as i have been using it since day one, However like all diagnostic tools they come with good and bad points.
      Thanks for watching the channel

Thanks for taking the time to reply!
Yeah I'm starting to think these tools are all pretty much of a muchness. It just seems to be a cash of the more you pay the more functionality and coverage you get, but I think the core software is virtually identical and relies on the same sources, with bits added or removed dependant on model. Got to hand it to the Chinese though for making this type of tool affordable to more people. I remember when all there were was snap on, bosch and dealer diag grade tools that would set you back over ten grand! 😮

    Hi Ryan,
You seem very knowledgeable about car electrics. A lot of garages I've been to don't seem to know too much about car electrics, just learning on the job as they go. Can I ask what kind of training you got, for anyone who might want to follow in your career path?

I use the topdon phoenix smart which apparently the vci is a pass thru - i havent needed to do any programming with it yet.
Maybe worth a chat with topdon if theyre already looking after you with tools?

Bought a 2020 Partner for a customer & I have had it more than him! Still couldnt locate a P00BC code after smoke tests and replacing MAF sensor (twice). The turbo chra was replaced, adblue injector, then 2 weeks later the float level in adblue tank failed.. EGR went as well and DPF got clogged... had the lot mapped out and P00BC deleted. Its now back here as the belt is ok but cam-chain snapped, all at less than 50k miles. Half the engine in the bin waiting on camshafts, cam carriers etc as tensioner broke carrier as well. Upgrading to 8mm chain. It should have 666 in it;s reg number. B*****D of a van. Euro 6 engines SH**E...

I really do think cars have gone backwards with the introduction of more technology, back in the 1980's it was a simple fuse, timing or fuel problem and no scanning tool required. Having said that, great video.

With all the diagnostics you do and ignition on etc have you or will you invest in a battery support unit to keep the battery voltage up whilst ignition on etc?

    • @mrautoservices7354
      @mrautoservices7354  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes that is definitely something i need to invest in actually, I did have a little one one but it rarely gets used on the van now
Need to upgrade to a tornado 90000 or similar as it is difficult keeping the ignition on with some of the bigger brands drawing so much power and while testing

This will probably sound stupid to most of you but what whould happen if you put power to the fuse but useing the probe battery earth and the positive probe on the fuse insted posative on battery and negative to the fuse
Just asking because i dont know if there is a reson for that or not thanks

Best pass-trhu/vci I have is VCX SE does just about everything, it's chinese but the support is great if you have problems( I never have any issues) and works with online oem
I currently use it for PSA,Vauxhall, Nissan, Renault, Ford, Mazda and MG(ford vci)
    Next is xentry and jlr
YOYO Diagnostics does a decent video on it
