Toyota is far more reliable in the long run and better resale. Hyundai recently is replacing 395 thousand engines in a recall. Lots of major recalls in the last few years. A pretty face but could be high maintenance. Toyota for now.
Tucson of course! And their warranty says it all about their trust of their vehicles. The new Hyundai line-up means business and competition against the mainstays.
If you're looking to resell at a point and guarantee no major issues even past 250k miles, go Toyota. If you're looking for leasing or nothing more than 5 years with no issues and more up to 120k-150k miles with more tech go Hyundai.
Toyota's are built to last but I think Hyundai deserves more credit. I've had 2 Hyundai's within the last 25 years that took me to 160K with no issues. I'm currently in a Hyundai with 180K with no major repairs nor signs of slowing down.
I bought the Tuscon in part because it feels roomier in the cabin. The Rav4 designers seemed to think I wanted more of the cabin space allocated to a needlessly over-sized center console that makes me feel crowded and boxed in. I didn't. Very happy (and roomy) overall with the Tuscon.

If I was in a position to buy a well out of warranty used car (7+ years) , I might consider Rav4. But if I'm buying or leasing new, then definitely Tucson all day. RAV4 feel like a economy car compared to Tucson.
I drove both back to back last weekend. The RAV4 wasn’t even close to the Tucson in every aspect. The RAV felt like it was years behind on everything. With all that and the warranty, the Hyundai wins every time.
What about the toyota reliability and long last with minimum maintenance, superior resale value in 5 years your RAV4 will cost double than Tucson, the trick is if you want car that will serve you forever with minimum headache or shiny box with crappier quality that will start breaking down and cost a fortune .... Toyota always wins on long run
Just put in my order for the 2022 Tucson. We test drove them both and didn’t love the rav4 but really loved the Tucson. It’s cheaper and has way more options. The rav4 just felt kind of cheap for the price and felt the Tucson drove better.
The Tucson drives better than any competitor in the class. This has been true for the last 4 years. As in regards for trim quality, the 2022 wins by far from any of the competitors in the class. If you want anything better than this you will have to go for the premium brands that cost a lot more.
I don’t want an outdated no more!….I got my Tucson hybrid for style, tech, and value for money…..they always say about reliability….open your eyes Hyundai still standing and running for a long time now….
Drove both vehicles 2 weeks each to decide on ultimately purchasing one! Both were comfortable... However, the Tucson was more spacious, extremely quiet to drive, provided premium feeling in smoothness and safety!!! Not to mention the apparent beautiful look!!! The RAV4 was excessively loud, especially on the highway! It was as if a window was left opened. Felt the wind every time a truck would pass me by, imagine how it was driving it in a stormy day with high winds that Ontario just had last week! Also, felt more of the road surfaces too! Toronto and surrounding areas have loads of pot holes! Overall, decided on purchasing a Hyundai Tucson 2023! I cannot wait for it to arrive! Worth the wait! Current wait list 4 to 6 months! My family is a fan of Toyota. Unfortunately the quality is no longer there. Thank you Hyundai!!! You have come a long way! Great job! A convert over here!!! : )
As always a nice comparison review. I wish you would also include ride comfort, handling, 0 to 60 and braking scores to get a more complete understanding.
If you planning on keeping it yeah. But once you go to sell it lol.. it won’t hold value as well. Also both are good vehicles and are marketing towards different people. Rav4 more rugged and Hyundai bit more luxury.
@@zerokool-2058 personally I think the Hyundai looks ugly. The Toyota looks handsome. I would choose the rav4 Because I’ll be looking at the exterior every day
Another item that is of very substantial import that I suggest you include in your reviews is the data from Kiplinger‘s or wherever you may get it KBB, etc. on depreciation. I think enough to be said here on this comparison that Toyotas have one peer only in Honda in these class vehicles in retained resale value Due to their highest level of reliability . So I would lease the Hyundai but buy the Toyota because Hyundai‘s plummet typically in resale value
True, but I believe Hyundai's/Kia's r ever so slowly closing the gap! Toyotas & Hondas r getting way to expensive, Hyundai's & Kia's are great alternatives especially considering they offer a better warranty.

I’m not a fan of that car segment, but coming from an unbiased person I’d choose the Toyota. 2-5 years from now that Tucson will prob be recalled for something engine fire related. Well aware of the warranty, but for the same amount of price I wouldn’t wanna be one of the people that experience my car burning down
I also chose Tucson for its futuristic design and driver asistant systems for both 30k USD. It's not wise to pay for unreliable variator and archaic interior and exterior design
Make sure to try filling up your tank all the way. Cause if it's a hybrid they are all broken. 14.5 you will never get more like 9. Toyota has terrible customer service btw.
The RAV4 is good, but it's the Tucon for me, all day. It's not even close in my books. Hoping to trade in my CX-5 for the Tucson Hybrid or upcoming Plug-in Hybrid (ideally a Genesis GV70 but I like the fuel efficiency of the Hybrids, now that fuel prices are higher..)
I drove both, love both but I am going with the Rav4 because it will probably last alot longer in miles than the tuscon. Hyundai is still having problems with their engines but what car company isn't having problems these days.
Who keeps the same car for 200k miles anyway? It's dumb af since it'll depreciate like shit and be outdated, if ur the first owner of the car don't keep it for longer than 100k miles so that once u sell it u will get a good price for it
WTF man, you give 1 whole point to Toyota for just an aditional storage shelf and you give 0.5 to the Hyundai for having way more advanced technology on the car camera, and way more advanced technology for the infotainment system itself as a whole unit in fact.
The huge turnoff on the Tucson is the rear turn signals. Which genius put a turn signals on the low end bumper. Someone with a large engine vehicles like pickups and full size SUV will not see the turning if they are close.
U Sir are a genius. TBH I really wanted to buy the Tucson but I am terrified that in case of a car crash I will be the one to blame and no one (dealer/manufacturer) will take the responsibility.
I always find it funny when leather is seen as a premium option. I hate leather. It is not comfortable. I’m thinking I’m going to go RAV4. The equity left in it at the end of financing and the simple fact that you know it’s going to work override any style or lipstick features.
Things I do not like about my 2022 Tucson. The exterior mirrors are not capable of being heated which should be a standard feature on vehicles sold in Canada, you shouldn’t have to up model to get this feature. The cover on the storage area between the front seats does not open to 90 degrees or beyond making it impossible to access the storage with your right arm if seated in the drivers seat. Hyundai does not support Sirius Radio. There are no control push buttons or knobs for selecting radio stations,it all has to be done by looking at the screen on the dash, meaning you have to take your eyes off of the road. There are two buttons for controlling volume. With a couple of options and tax the out the door cost was a bit over $43,400.00o. Other than the above it is a comfortable vehicle and it is not underpowered.
All you people bashing Hyundai but from my own experience I dont know why. I have had 3 Elantras 2000, 2010 and still have a 2013 and not a problem with any of them. They have been very dependable cars.
I think the Hyundai heated steering wheel goes all around, whereas Toyota heated steering wheel is only half baked, so I'd add 0.5 to the Tucson. The push button shifter is better because it's not in the way, and there are paddle shifters, so I'd say they're even there. Camera mirrors, including blind spot cameras don't always help people that use reading glasses which they can't wear while driving. As for reliability, Hyundai has shot up there a long time ago. Those who think they haven't are probably brand snobs that will never change.
I think the opposite is true. Naturally aspirated engines are much more reliable and longer lasting. If you are leasing sure go for it, but I prefer to get as much use out of my vehicles as possible.
I can hear the fansoys now. “How dare you compare the best Japanese car brand in the world. To the likes of those Korean copycats” 😂😂😂 Hyundai/Kia are in the spotlight, let them enjoy it. From the amount of progress they’ve made, they deserve it. 👏🏾. Toyota better kick it into gear fast, or get left behind.
Toyotas are great. I am a fan, but I bought 2 Hyundais the same day. Tucson and Santa Fe. 4 years ago and 0 problems. The Tucson was 3 years old, the Santa Fe was new. Gas, oil changes and just drive. My new Camry years ago had a few issues the first 2 years, but it also was a quality car. I would look at Hyundai /Genesis over every brand if they hit your price point. My brother has a Hyundai IONIC5 and his wife has a Genesis GV80. They love them. Why can’t America produce car’s this good? You know we can. We have the best technology in the world. Maybe Tesla is it. Wake up other brands. You are getting left behind.
I agree here. I definitely think Honda and Toyota need to up their game if they are gonna be able to compete with Hyundai and Kia. The koreans are proving you can have premium quality for the price
@kev j you live in a parallel universe my friend. Because of people like you they keep their cars outdated and the same for several years. “They got nothing to worry about” yeah right, you literally get double the value with a Hyundai versus a Toyota yet people still hide behind the “reliability” bullshit which makes no sense since every single Hyundai comes with the 10 year 100k warranty, and anybody that can afford a new car is not going to keep a car more than 4 years. So yeah, parallel universe, keep getting ripped off my friend
I had a 2017 RAV 4 XLE. Just traded it for a 2024 Tucson Limited. I loved the RAV but the Tucson is in a different league. I know, the Trim levels are very different, but the Tucson’s feel is much more luxury feeling and I’m not talking just about features.

Thanks for your video , it's the first one actually comparing the 👉cabin noise👈 between these two contenders, and I say this, because I was totally confident about to buy a brand new Rav4 2022 UNTIL I did a ride test in a highway, and I could really noticed the really noisy cabin, and THAT issue can be notice in your video, when you goes from one scene (in RAV4) to the next one (in Tucson), the noise even in video its toooooootally different (much more quiet in Tucson), in deed you are saying that the different it's not too much (dB speaking) but I would like to warn that 3dB of noise different its RIGHT THE DOUBLE of noise, so when RAV4 is making almost 3dB more is making almos the double of noise. I could test a Lexus 2020 and the cabin is also much more quieter however it lacks from engine punch and the interior deck is more outdated than my Civic 2007...
The only thing that could interfere my hypothesis (in the noise sensation through the video) is that you are actually using some audio compressor plugin for your video edition... but anyways would be the same for both shots

I bought a 2022 Tucson Limited in red and I love how it looks! It's also quiet inside and has a very comfortable ride and is spacious. The Rav 4 just looks so old and boxy to me, it just doesn't make me want to get in it. I think the previous models were better looking.
One of my favorite things about the Tucson is that the display doesn't get in your field of view like in most cars. I'm petite so this is a important to me.

Make sure you park it outside lol

I put an order for the RAV4 Hybrid XLE Premium. I have to wait 2 months for it b/c they’re all sold out at the BIGGEST dealership in the world.
Nice video. I been debating whether i should buy a rav4 or Tucson, am going for the Tucson.

I’m not a fan of that car segment, but coming from an unbiased person I’d choose the Toyota. 2-5 years from now that Tucson will prob be recalled for something engine fire related. Well aware of the warranty, but for the same amount of price I wouldn’t wanna be one of the people that experience my car burning down
Currently in the market for an SUV and the Tucson is my top choice right now. Seems like you get the most features for the price.
I also chose Tucson for its futuristic design and driver asistant systems for both 30k USD. It's not wise to pay for unreliable variator and archaic interior and exterior design
Just bought the RAV4, after my son’s experience with Hyundai and their warranty it was no contest.
Make sure to try filling up your tank all the way. Cause if it's a hybrid they are all broken. 14.5 you will never get more like 9. Toyota has terrible customer service btw.
? If you have to change an LED headlight or day time running light unit on the Tucson, what does that look like and how much will it costs?

Fantastic job in the editing of this video- the side by side (top & bottom : ) of every feature was done amazingly well! BTC
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
It sounds like you wanted the Limited trim. The steering wheel on the limited has mute and volume buttons. Sirius is there, as well.
You need to look at the Rav4 XSE Hybrid. It's actually cheaper base than these vehicles but way sportier and 40 mpg.
Tucson by a mile. You would be mad to order the naturally aspirated model when the petrol turbo is available. I’ve got the 1.6 turbo.
I think the opposite is true. Naturally aspirated engines are much more reliable and longer lasting. If you are leasing sure go for it, but I prefer to get as much use out of my vehicles as possible.

I could test a Lexus 2020 and the cabin is also much more quieter however it lacks from engine punch and the interior deck is more outdated than my Civic 2007...
