    I remember you Moby.. I was kid and you was in a small village of Crete Island it calls Maleme and you was in my best friend hotel.. Before you release the album play...when you left the hotel you give me your album and you sigh on it and you said this is my new album and I hope that you will like it.. And you give other one to my best friends brother.. I didn't know you who you was, even my best friend and my best friends brother. .. But I remember that you was alone and very kind and very simple man.. When I listen your album I said.. Wooow.. You make my childhood amazing.. Thank you Moby!!

      I agree. Very peculiar and obscure sample.

      It's like a second long and then pitched around to make the melody. But like how did he even find himself playing with that clip??

    • @jren207
      @jren207 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I thought the same. It's such a clever thing to do, and I was really eager to find out how he came across the sample and what made him reverse it, but he mentioned nothing about it.

    • @Expressionistix
      @Expressionistix ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@jren207 Still hiding and ashamed of sampling maybe? There should be no reason anymore. Yes this song launched a hugely successful music career and this sample is a huge chunk on that song and the original made no where near the money Porcelain did but there should be no guilt in that. Sampling was part of a bigger collective of artists from the time from Hip Hop, Indie, Techno, Trip Hop, and Dub/Electronuic music at the time that had a heavy foundation in the cheap 80's digital Akai samplers and 808 drum machines finding their way into the hands of bedroom musicians.

    When I first heard Porcelain I was in a world of pain. I had just broken up with someone who was the one. I had to hastily rearrange holiday plans for my kids and ended up at Butlins on the south coast of England ( hell on earth for me but the kids had a good time). The only thing that kept me going was the Olympics and occasionally hearing snatches of Porcelain which I gravitated towards like a moth. That simple melody of crisp notes - man what power they have. Vowed never to go back to Butlins and spent the next 7 years taking the kids into the mountains of Wales. Thank you for sharing what you were going through at the time through your music. It helped me tremendously at the time.

      @@fredwillot9457 merci vivement que tout s'arrête et que l'on ressorte de nouveau 😃.
      J'ai passé 20 ans ac moby en tournée à le suivre partout avec ma vieille voiture... Qu'est ce que ça me manque les festivals 😧 avec moby mais bon je pense que moby ne refera plus de tournée, c'est triste. Il me restera les souvenirs, les photos et les vidéos sur le net 😃. Si j'ai bien compris tu es un grand barbu que l'on trouve en concert ac moby dans la fosse 😄 ?

    There are certain songs which snap me back to a specific time and place. Its in my girlfriends room, late at night. Her room was dark with only one candle giving light. The window was open and it was raining heavily outside while I laid with her holding each other in the cool dark room, listening to music. Then this song came on. I had not heard it yet. We both laid there quietly, listening to the song. When it was over, we didnt say a word, we just fell asleep. She has now be gone a long time. Those were the best days of my life. All the memories come flooding back with so many different songs. I hope when I die and get to be with her again that all of those songs and moments are apart of the afterlife, if there is even one to go to. I hope there is and that she is there, waiting.

    Thank you Moby... When I was young, it wasn't easy for myself have access to music or tv cable, as MTV. And it happened that this magnificent and wonderful song came to me as a sountrack as you know. And that was after several attempts, I get to know you and your work. Since then, you're always in my playlists! Thank you again!

    Man I love this guy. one of the only few music people/stars I would like to meet. Porcelain is absolutely hands down one of my favorite songs. It just takes me to different place i knows its kind of a sad song but I personally associate with a girl I was with Ive never met anyone like her since then. Its been years since Ive just been able to be me with someone and thats sad with but whenever I hear this song I think of her and all that happiness we experienced with each other

    You have touched the hearts and feelings of everyone who knows what you have done for us with your music. No other person has ever done this in a memorable way. Every track has meaning to it. I love your music and love what you have done for me as person when feeling down. This is a solution to sadness. Thank you so much Richard. Thank you.

    Eres el artista más humilde que haya visto. Quizá si sea porque Jim James es generoso, pero también porque ambos, porcelain y tú, son íconos.

    Love the idea of doing orchestral versions, on Deutsche Grammophon no less!
    Brought to mind another great musician, that blessed us with Full of Emptiness reprise, Spring Reprise, I Remember Yesterday reprise, Mac Arthur Park (reprise)...
    And hope this sparks the muse to make a full suite of great Moby music!!!
    Also looove the Hit Squad for God EP t-shirt from the first band! ✌
