- Ladakh Protest: Activist Sonam Wangchuk has claimed that he has received an anonymous letter warning him of a money laundering case against him. Sonam Wangchuk also claims that he is getting veiled death threats. The Ladakhi activist has raised issues of the loss of grazing lands due to the situation with China on the LAC, and has raised other issues of concern to the region's people.

This is exactly what sucks about democracy. An undemocratic outsider like China can play a gambit and race you to the bottom.
Wangchuk's agenda is environmental while the government wants to shove in as many military, resource and institutional reforms as possible, to catch up on the lead the other side has.
The classic nothingburger answer is "gain their confidence/be democratic" but how does that play out? Wangchuk would be more than happy to have roads for the troops but from his perspective, he is not ok with dams(for electricity and water for military/civilian capacity) or random tree cover(for camouflage and contingency).

This has nothing to do with BJP. If anything they are shoving overdue reform and development, avoided by the last govt for its reputation, goody naivete and other khayali pulao.

@@rutvikrs Wanchuk is more concerned about industrial complexes making environmental impact. Ladakh holds reserves of many resources that might be utilised by many Indian companies. Also Ladakh has been facing water crisis and increasing businesses.
Wanchuk demand 6th schedule. That would stop unprecedented access to non ladakhi people.
In North East too, there is 6th schedule but more than sufficient military presence and military complexes.

and I am also an Indian. But as per his DEMAND FOR Sixth schedule STATE only he can own land in Ladakh (being a native) but you and I can not. Should we support him for that?. Why he can only own land in Ladakh and I can not? We also pay taxes. Is not is hypocrisy? Why India should support him? If he is asking for banning industries then I would support him. He is just asking for special rights over the ownership of land. You and I cannot buy or own land in Ladakh. A huge part of our taxes go to Ladakh but we would not be able to buy land there. Why u want to support him? I want equal rights over Ladakh just like him. It's my country as well. Let's stop industrialisation there to save environment. But why special rights to him?
