    I am probably going to u of t, and I’m like so scared of what I’ve seen online. High school is already hard for me( as an introvert plus social phobia plus a nerd), I can even imagine what university will be like, damn it is legit so frightening.

    • @NicolesVlogs
      @NicolesVlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      ahhh ya uni can be scary but it's definitely not as scary as I expected it to be! I also read and heard tons of scary things but it turned out to be fine :) (hopefully i'll be able to say that over the next few years too aha)

    Great and helpful video. U of T is a university that does not handhold its students. Both U of T and McGill are considered grade deflators. No easy marks and they really grinds their students. Don't be surprised to have straight A's in high school and then receive B's or even C's at U of T. You will be competing with some of the best students from Canada and abroad.The Iveys are grade inflators which helps its students to enter professional schools such as medicine, law, dentistry and grad school.

      If you have the marks you should also consider McGill. A smaller student population and fantastic city to live in. Montreal is fabulous. But like U of T the pressure to excel is immense. U of T is a campus spread out all over the place. McGill is more compact and accessible by foot.

    Hello! How many courses would you recommend for first-year students going into Life Science?

    • @NicolesVlogs
      @NicolesVlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Laura Pollock hi again! Sooo the default is 5 courses per semester, but if you have ap or in credits u can take less. I think usually in life sci its 4-5 per semester but some ppl do push it and take 6 (i haven’t personally met anyone doing so in life sci though). I think 4 courses is def a lighter more manageable load than 5, but most ppl do take 5 each semester.

    Hi i have a question, how do you manage to study and have a part time job to sustain your living like buying yourself food, and other miscellaneous expenses ? I heard that students in engineering, and other programs study 24/7 so how are they eating and taking care of them selves ? Please respond to me, I'm very curious about this !!

    • @NicolesVlogs
      @NicolesVlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! SOoo I can't speak about engineering specifically because I'm not in that program, however from my experience being in life sci during first year, I found that there was actually less class time then in high school. This meant during the other hours I'd obviously have to be studying but I also found that if u make time for other things like working or going out with friends, you can be more productive during the study hours. It's really about managing your time effectively. (the whole "Study smarter not harder" kind of thing). It's definitely something I'm still working on because finding a good balance is really challenging. Hope this helps!

    Hey! are all of these events exclusive to trin members (other than the ceremony ofc cuz thats obviously exclusively trin)? Does each college have its own parade/party (etc.)

    • @NicolesVlogs
      @NicolesVlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! So there are some events that are specific to each college (like the Coachella theme party was a trio event), but there are also collaborative events, (the block party was a trinity x Woodsworth x Innis). The huge parade is for all colleges, and all campuses actually! Most of the events though are specific to your college :)

    What courses are you required to take in life sci at UofT? I cant find them online for some reason

    • @NicolesVlogs
      @NicolesVlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Naomi G hey Naomi! So theres no “required” courses technically. You choose courses that you need for the programs u want to enter in second year. So if u look up certain programs on the arts and science calendar then u can find what first year courses u need. Most of the life Sci programs require BIO120+130, CHM135+136, and MAT135+136 though! Check out my “5 things I wish i knew” video for more details on how that works😊😊

      @NicolesVlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Camille Belair hi there,
      so i guess it's ideal that you try courses in first year and then decide what you want to apply for by the end of first year. You need to choose a program by second year but you can also always change programs throughout your years. Also it's not all biological science! There are many different courses and programs under the life science umbrella :))
