    The bolts on the ml are a safety designed assembly, if both nuts come off the wishbone is still held in.

    That is a safety thing on the MLs, if the bolt backs out it wont fall out and drop the control arm. A lot of front end pieces are that way.

    I feel your pain on the parts. Our shop has some trucks that have been sitting in our yard over 8 months waiting on parts. Pre-Covid it was rare that we waited longer then a day for parts, usually call the warehouse and have it delivered the same day. Now it seems a week or 2 is fast.

    The bolts on that upper control arm are put in that way on purpose. If the nut every comes off, the bolt can't come out, and the control arm comes loose. It's a safety control feature.

  • @richardsmith2721
    @richardsmith2721 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    change the rad, the upper intake house, the coolant expansion tank. those are the three weak points and not if but WILL go. best to just to do all of them at once. The hose and expansion tank are cheap.

    Upper arm bolts are put on like that from factory as so if in future the bolts loosen or back themselves out due to lack of maintenance for example the arm doesn’t detach itself from the body of the vehicle and cause you to crash because the suspension damper is in their way, reversing the bolts takes away this deliberate engineers built in safety feature. Just an FIY

    The CL is a beautiful car and I love the V12, but once the radiator is in I would sell it as fast as I could before the next thing breaks. That radiator cost is really reasonable. A factory replacement for my Envoy with the 5.3 LS is $285. Fortunately, unlike the CL63 used radiators are readily available in wrecking yards.

      Just keep an eye on your modules. Specifically the rear SAM module on those MLs. They put them where the rear wheels splash water by the main battery and can become partially submerged. Thus fried module; battery drains, tail light issues, door actuator malfunctions etc.
      I see you guys are in KMs so assuming Canadian and spring time slush/slop can create these problems
      Enjoy!
