I had a silver 2005 S4 6 speed manual with 30k miles that I kept as a driver for awhile. I loved it, I drove it to Chicago from Kansas City a couple of times and to Rochester, Minnesota twice to the Mayo Clinic. Mine had the same seats as this one, I think they're super comfortable, especially for long trips. I also bought a 2002 Audi S6 Avant at Manheim Orlando back in 2005 or 2006. It was an executive driven car and only had 1200 miles, it was in the VW/Audi financial lane and I just had to have it...even though I had no idea of the value due to only having a thousand miles I ended up paying $10 grand over extra clean wholesale book, just me and one other guy bidding back and forth for thousands, luckily for me he gave up. I shipped it back to KC and put it online and sold it later that night! A really nice couple flew in from San Francisco and gave me my asking price. They knew how rare they were especially with the almost non existent miles. I always did well buying and selling Audis, especially S4's. I can't say I'm a fan of those ginormous front grilles, at least thry aren't as ridiculous as BMW's front ends.

This will never get read as I am commening over a year after the video, but a couple things of note. My wife also has a '13 S4 she has owned for several years. Never, EVER do the thermostat without pressure testing first to see if you will also need to do the water pump. I fell for the online BS that it was fixed in the B8.5, but hers wasn't the case and was weeping slightly (couldn't see it) and the pressure test confirmed. The job is a bigger pain when doing the water pump.
VCDS is what every Audi owner should have. I get it, Carly is sponsered, but that's the right home tool for the job. Also, code in the ability for the cluster to show what gear you are in when in Drive and Sport. Wife has 111k on hers now, with every service record for the car, and it has been pretty reliable over its lifespan. Front wheel bearings are trash on all of the B8 lineup so expect to change those (and they don't sell hubs assemblies anymore, and boy do they get stuck if you are in the rust belt). Wife won't get rid of it becuase she still loves the car and it is just reliable.
Lastly, if buying one, ONLY buy one with the Sport Diff. Makes a big difference in how it handles. I'd also only do the full leather option as well as the seats are nicer that way.

Audi and VW maintenance is very expensive to maintain. The last VW I had was a Golf in the 1980s and love it. Brought it in for routine mileage service and it was $700.00. I told the guy I wanted a routine service, not an engine to overhaul. I was in Germany when the Quarto came out. I took my car in for a service and the Quatro was there brand new. I left and when I came back the Quarto was wrecked sitting there. A German took it for a test spin and flipped it. There was a little snow on the road and the guy came in really mad because he thought the Quatro would hold the car in the curve even with snow.

I own a 2013 S4 with 75k on her and even a simple stage one ECU-TCU tune from 034 Motorsports or Integrated Engineering(I have 034) will more than wake up the S4 and keep it reliable and I still get 30 MPG or better! There is an auxiliary electric water pump that sits down low on the drivers side and should be able to test the output of the electric pump with a VW/Audi specific scan tool. I've owned my S4 for about a year now and they're definitely not super cheap to maintain/repair but the performance output of this car in a strait line, on curvy roads/track and on the snow/ice are more than amazing. This S4 is an amazing Daily driver and weekend getaway car :)

After paying what I would imagine an oil change to cost at a dealership - if they'd not changed the crush washer ($ .79 at most) I'd be getting the complete underbody detailed for free. I've had two Fords where they tried to "cheap out" by not replacing the plastic drain plug and caused leaks - I was in the habit of marking the original drain plug and then before I left the shop verified that it was a new one - amazing how a Sharpie mark changes attitudes.

@@cigarsgunsanddiesel8032 The supercharger on the 2010-2016 Audi S4 isn't creating the heat that most other "hot V" engine suffer from. The newer 2017+ B9 S4 has a turbo within the V and Audi did a great job on keeping the thermals in close to the turbo so its not cooking the cylinder head components. I own a tuned/upper pulley 2013 S4 and Best friend has 2018 S4 that he bough new and it also is tuned and typical bolt on's with zero issue's after almost 80,000 miles.

@@rachelgreen1368 Yes 80k is still kinda considered lower mileage for today’s standards because of the engineering that’s gone into these modern Audi engines. As far as 150k goes anything can happen regardless of the layout of the forced induction system that it’s equipped with. I’ve had turbocharger failures at 25K and cracked ringlands at 49K on my other currently owned Audi vehicles.

I had a 2011 S4 which had a thermostat failure. Replacement at Audi dealer was over $800. Although that is outrageous, after seeing this video I'm glad I didn't try fixing it myself. It certainly looks like a two man job. Having said that, it remains my favorite performance sedan and I've owned C32 AMG and an M3. The S4 just had everything right, fit, finish, milage, and speed all in one package. I did end up trading it in at 105K miles out of fear of future repairs.
