No worries and it's new for the character Jim too as its part of their character arc. I really like how is more just Jim being Jim and the crew just accepts them as they are going along.

“Izzy Hands… everyone’s favorite.” The amount of contempt you put into that statement is hilarious. I think The Art of Fuckery episode is what cemented him as my favorite character. He’s so angry all the time and no one takes him seriously. 😂

And that's pretty much Izzy's role. He's taken straight out of the classic grimdark pirate genre (like black sails) and is dropped in the middle of a romcom surrounded by idiots all sharing a single braincell. And that's what makes his character so funny.

I think Izzy is people's favorite because he's just so fun to hate. Watching him get frustrated by Stede and his crew is truly good comedy.
FYI, I think other people will probably mention it, but from the next episode on Jim is referred to as they/them, not she/her. It's easy to miss on first watch, just noting for you to avoid being problematic on accident.
I like how succinctly and specifically you're able to define what you like about the show so far in your intro and your take aways from the episode, which really is what makes or breaks a reaction video IMO.
So agreed on how well written the show is, been so long since I have seen show this well written.

It only gets better now that you’ve met Blackbeard. He’s probably my second favorite character in the show. Also I find Izzy pretty irritating with how he gets in Steed’s way but that being said he’s still a brilliant character. I don’t like him but at the same time I can’t bring myself to hate him. That’s how you know he’s good lol.

I think I've said before that I absolutely loathe Izzy, yet I find him hilarious in a sense too because he just doesn't fit in with the rest of the crew at all. It's kind of incredible.
I love Stede immediately showing Ed his secret passages, it's so funny/cute how excited he was to show them off and how blown away Ed was at Stede's... Well, just general mindset and interests. They are very entertaining together.
The end was a bit of a twist! Like that story going forward.

You are such a great reactor! I'm glad you appreciate not only the humour of the show, but the depth that they add to the characters. Your reaction to Stede's name is funny because that was his actual name in real life haha. Also, I love that you like Black Pete! He is such a good character. Though I would have to say my favourite is Blackbeard (well ok I like all of them haha). Also, if you are really liking this show, and you haven't seen any other of Taika's stuff, you really should! My personal favs are What We Do in the Shadows (movie and tv show) and Hunt for the WIlderpeople, though tbh you could pick any of them and strike gold. Anyways, definitely subscribed to see more! :)

So one interesting parallel is that in episode 1 when Oluwande asks Stede if he wants to live, he says it's a complicated question, and in this episode, Ed says they haven't tried dying yet...hmmm....
Also, The Swede is played by Oscar-winner Nat Faxon. That's 2 Oscars in one series! (Taika being the other one, of course)

@@Feggiulina The moment where Blackbeard comes out dressed as Stede and introduces Stede dressed as Blackbeard, and Izzy just storms off in disgust is somehow the funniest reaction from the crew.
I think I had about the same reaction at the end there lol. Really unsure what might happen with Blackbeard, whether he would befriend him or kill him.
And hell yeah to Stede growing each episode! I think you're right about that! I love the show in it's entirety, and I think it was important to see Stede on his own, to get to see how things were going for him before Blackbeard showed up (i.e. not well, stabbed lol).

Yeah, it's interesting how Blackbeard and his crew just move onto Stede's ship. I'd assume that their own must have gotten wrecked fighting the Spanish the previous episode. Or Stede's ship was better. Pirates would frequently "trade up"-switch ships-upon capturing a better one historically.
