I found out I was Afib in August 2019. I am having cardioversion on Feb 25 if the blood clot has dissolved behind my heart. I pray and hope that everything will go as planned. As for the ones who have had the cardioversion and feeling great, that is awesome! Wishing you all continued good health.👍😊

I've had this procedure and thankfully I'm now in a good , normal rythum where I previously wasn't. so grateful for a chance to be more healthy, especially since when I was in a fib I had a major stroke, almost died
Can you help? My dad (72) had this done yesterday. He is having so much chest pain- angina-feels like he cannot breathe. This was the worst procedure he has ever had he said stating he would rather die than do it again. It took 3 shocks. 260 joules. Why was his experience so awful?
@@seanconlan3138 thank you for asking. This answer may be tough to bear. Last week he descended into cardiac arrest and ended up on life support in the ICU. After resuscitating him 6 times at the 7th code blue the damage was too great. He passed away 2 days ago. Thank you for asking. Wishing everyone in the comments the best of health. I know you are glad that the equipment times the QRS cycle and delivers the shock precisely on the R wave. Imagine the "oh shit!" moment of doing it wrong manually. Don't know who devised a method of delivering lethal shocks to the heart as a medical procedure, but he had gonads the size of basketballs! The only person with bigger ones was the first patient to knowingly have the electric cardioversion done! :)

Hi! Thank you so much for your reply. I just went back to the Dr yesterday with him and this Cardioversion is not going to help his condition. He gets tachycardia and also Afib. His doc says he needs ablation to re-route(?) the signal. Or something like that. He did have the Cardioversion in the ER cuz his HR went up to 165 this 3rd time and nothing worked so they shocked him and it took HR down. But he is topping off at meds so ablation is next. Thanx so much for your help. Appreciate it~
I have AVNRT and the first time i got it real bad (250BPM) i went into atrial fibrillation once the AVNRT episode stopped in the ambulance with ~185BPM. Had to get cardioversion for it. I was 21 at the time, im 24 now.

I really want to get my brother off all the toxic medication he is on. He is only 58,healthy, great Chol levels, eats good things,minimal blockage,but he did or still has a blood clot in his calf. I want him to take systemic enzymes with serrapeptidase to finally DISSOLVE the clot naturally. Coumadin is not changing it. TU for your input
Yup! im going to school for EMS, we really only shock when the heart rhythm is a life threatening arrhythmia like V tach & V fib ect. but that's on the ambulance
I’m having this procedure on 12-01-2019 and I have watched two videos on TH-cam re cardio versions which has put my mind at rest. My one small problem is that I don’t have any living next of kin but a good friend and his wife are going to look after me for however long it takes me to recover safely God bless them.
I had mine today - didn’t feel a thing. I was put out. Now that I am in normal rhythm - I expected to feel way better - but - nothing to write home about.
I am looking for some NATURAL, or as close to as possible, help for my brother's AFib. He has had two heart attacks- first time his HR was over 200. Now one and half yrs later(yesterday) he had another.He's on all kinds of statins,coumadin,heart stablizers...whatever. ALL TOXIC. Since meds are not controlling it now, they want to do a shock procedure. Is THIS something new? Does it always put the heart into a normal rhythm? For good? Do they need to be re-shocked? What is the success rate?TU~
I had a cardioversion today. I was put to sleep anwoke up 10min feeling normal again. Thank god.

Had this done today. Worked great. Hope my heart stays in sinus rhythm. I’ve been through quite a bit with heart rhythm issues.
Going in 2 weeks from now for the first time for this procedure - appreciate the info!

It's really scary to think forgetting to press one button can send someone into vfib.
YOUR VIDEOS ARE AWESOME. I love this one. Now Midazolam/VERSED can also be used for sedation. It causes amnesia, and is a benzodeazapine.

if after open heart surgery I still have palpitations is Atria Fibrillation ?? I don't like the feeling :(
The vulnerable time is during the T-wave, not the QRS complex!

Nope... Far more complicated than that. Many factors go into whether or not this is necessary

I have seen it done at 50, 100 & 150 but didn't work, it needs to be 200
It does not always put the heart into normal sinus rhythm; it may worsen the arrhythmia or could put the heart into V fib or Asystole.
