Omg ASMR gem anyone? This man’s voice is every bit as wonderful and relaxing as the late Bob Ross’ was. I hope he keeps making more and more videos for as long as possible🌟🤞🏼🌟
Q: "What is that metal mold?" A: The soldier and accessory molds are from the Mattel ThingMaker line from the 1950s. Cosclay TIPS for SUCCESS on your first try: - Bake it at the RIGHT TEMP, for the right time: 275°F (135°C) for at least 30 minutes per ¼” - Don't bake it at the WRONG TEMP! (LOL! I know it's redundant, but Cosclay will NOT be strong unless baked at that HIGHer temp for long enough.) - Don't be afraid of crumbly clay; it's easy to re-condition. - Don't flex the part right after removal from oven. Let sit and cool before flexing. (Bending fresh out of the oven can easily cause a split/tear.) - Consider WET-SANDING. This will not only cut down on little breathable particles floating around, but it will reduce surface drag which is helpful on the semi-rigid material.) - Know that you can add fresh Cosclay, to cured Cosclay and BAKE AGAIN. Steady Craftin videos are made with the help of DIRECT SUPPORT: www.patreon.com/steadycraftin (You'll also get access to the printable 3D scans of my original sculpted figures, MP3s, exclusive behind-the-scenes videos, shop discounts, and more.) My family and I are so grateful that I get to do this.
My old friend Crafsman, I have a question that I've been wondering about for about for nearly two years .....what happened to the video where you showed off your camera collection? Did I imagine it? It was from waaaaaay back I believe, but I loved it. I don't know........ it was calming I suppose and one of the early days when I discovered your channel. But now, I can't find the video anymore no matter what I type in (btw your video on EXPOSURE basics I am ashamed to admit I've probably watched 20 times lol 😆). Anyway, best wishes to you and your family and save me some fig preserves and I'll send you a Virginia ham and some gravy 🤣
@@justsomeguy9325 Hey buddy! :D My first thought was the "Things I like" video. But if I'm recalling right, where I showed off the most old cameras was in the video about recording sound effects: th-cam.com/video/7yuo4ALLz2A/w-d-xo.html Let me know if that ain't it and I'll try to find it! :)
@@TheCrafsMan Thanks so much for replying. This wasn't the one I was thinking of but that's totally fine because I really like that video too. ......then again, I like everything you put out LOL. Also, as you've been re-releasing the older unlisted videos I'm sure the one I was thinking of will turn up, and if it doesn't then 🤷🏿♂️ no worries at all, there's PLENTY of great stuff on this channel 😁. Keep on keeping on Crafsman and thanks again
Crafsman, your videos are a huge help for my mental health. You must hear this quite a bit, but your videos are an oasis of pure joy in an anxious world. Thanks for everything you do
Man, I LOVE Cosclay. For me the biggest difference is the strength that you get. I have dropped my Cosclay figures (accidentally) and they were perfectly fine. Nice video man. Love that authentic VHS look!
Thank you buddy! So much! And mannn, I completely could/should have mentioned my man selling me on Cosclay with your feedback. :/ Dang. It was talking to you that I think sorta pushed me to finally try it.
"Watch out now..." *throws mat love it! 😄 You're so awesome and I'm glad to see that you're still making videos after rediscovering you once again. ❤️ 😀
Craftsman is the sorta creator that anybody who loves him just knows he’s going to be a huge creator one day and I just can’t wait for it! You rock craftsman!
Oh man those molds from Mattel bring back memories. Back from a time when kid toys could be dangerous. They are Thing Maker molds which had you injecting melted plastic.
Oh mannnnn, I wince thinking about some of the toys from back then. LOL! I never had the really dangerous stuff but heard all about the old chemistry sets with chemicals that you can't get (and don't WANT) now. :)
Those vintage Mattel molds shown in the thumbnail are what first caught my attention to this video. I had one of those Mattel "Fighting Men" Thingmaker sets when I was about eight. I still can't believe I was allowed to mess around with dangerous stuff like that as a kid. I also helped my older cousins who cast toy soldiers out of lead(!) on their kitchen stove . . . . As an aside, I remember that the tank you could make out of the provided camouflaged cardstock and detailed with parts made from the molds looked more like the 21st Century M1 Abrams that was still years away from being designed, than the Vietnam-Era M48 - M60 Patton series in use when this toy was new. No doubt this was because it was easier to make flat sided paper models than ones needing to simulate cast, compound curves, but still . . . .
crafsman is one of the most genuine youtubers I know of, but the "yes I like it, I like it" at 7:04 sounded like it came straight from the heart. It sounded exceedingly genuine even for an already genuine youtuber like him. If that makes sense?
That moment when crafman gets distracted from the silicone mat's translucency always gets me. Gives me memories of some of the kids' craft shows i would watch.
Brilliant video. I think those moulds were for a figure that had a wire armature in it, so it could be posed. I'm sure I had one, a little army guy, many, many years ago. The sight of the accessories in the mould, flicked a switch in my mind. I love your videos; there's a tremendously calming 'Bob Ross' vibe to them. Thank you so much. 👍👍👍
Very neat little material, and I was "ooooooo"ing right there along with you when you got the cured test piece to tie knots with itself! Looking forward to any projects you might have with CosClay in the future.
I loved this one Crafsman. When is Crafson starting his own channel? I have some cosclay just sitting in my workshop waiting to be used and you covered everything! Thanks for that, I feel confident now.
I prod at Crafson to put out more work. Or rather, to SHOW the work. He really does stay working on something, whether it be sculpts or (currently) game art and programming. I'll tell him *the* Bill Making Stuff asked, which should be a big encouragement. :) Thanks for watching, and as always for the lovely comments!

Thank you for the new video Crafsman. No matter how rough my day has been, seeing your videos puts my mind at ease. It don't even matter what your video is about. Just having that smooth voice and positive attitude makes anything you produce worth the watch. Keep up the fantastic work.
As soon as I saw how flexible it is, I got excited for the possibility of combining that with 3d printing/etc. to add flexible parts without the hassle of printing TPU.
(TW: death) Hey Crafsman. I just want you to know that right now in this moment you're helping me a lot. I just had a close loved one pass away on my birthday and there's a lot of pain and emotions going on with me. And your videos are helping, really helping more than anything else I have found so thank you very much. Also I'm about to start needle felting so thanks for that too. I had no idea that was a thing.
Baby oil works just as well as softener (I have my suspicions it’s the same thing in the clay softener bottles) and if it gets too sticky cornflower works wonders.
Some clay softeners *are* just liquid plasticizers vs baby oil which is pretty much mineral oil. You're totally right about corn flour/starch being helpful but too much can cause the clay to become brittle after baking as it can leech out the plasticizers inside.
Thank you for making videos! I find myself smiling and my heart is warm the entire way through them, they help me SO much on really hard days. You bring so much happiness to my home
I had that Mattel Thingmaker soldier mold as a kid! It definitely was designed to have wires put in to make a bendable. The ones they supplied were very thin and tended to break after a few bends though. You should try to get a hold of some old SuperGoop, the liquid plastic you'd squirt into the mold and bake on the little hot plate. It also cured flexible but was just a single liquid in a bottle. You also might like their creature and monster molds for future projects!
