Ferrari GTC4 Lusso T review | Living with 602bhp V8 everyday supercar | Autocar

  • Can you really call a £200,000 V8 like the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso T an everyday, entry-level car? Whatever, we're going to do it anyway: the GTC4 Lusso is Ferrari's most usable car, after all.
    It has four-seats, breadvan-style bodywork with a reasonable boot beneath it - it even has split-fold rear seats.
    The original variant had four-wheel drive and a V12 engine, but Ferrari has since introduced this turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 model at the 'bottom' of the range. It's rear-drive only, but still has in excess of 600bhp and a price you can take to well in excess of a quarter of a million pounds with some deftly judged options.
    Just how usable is this car, then? Sure, it'll look dramatic and go very fast (0-62mph in 3.5sec) in the right conditions, but what if you choose crummy roads in crummy conditions in the middle of a crummy English winter? It says GT in the name: can it GT in real life?

    Best review of the V8 GTC4 all other reviews focus on the V12 being another level just because of the noise but its important to say the V8 is no slouch and with a little less weight handles better so great points to make. Plus a tiny bit friendlier to polar bears.....win win

      There is a lot more to the V12 than just sound. It is totally different, more lively. It flairs up much better, is more crisp and just more alive. The V8 might be a tad lighter, but the engine feels a lot more sluggish. The Lusso T engine has more in common with the Cali T engine, and lacks the punch of the 488 engine. The V12 is the Lusso to have, and I could not imagine choosing the T.

    Great review but some of his comments are actually a bit understated. I'm prob not the only person in the comment section to daily drive a lusso but the rear seats actually have a lot of space and head room, by most cars' standards, not just supercar. The suspension is magic, I drive a mercedes s class for work and I'm telling you, the lusso handles bumpy roads almost as well as that

    If you actually want this to drive everyday, then I see absolutely no reason why you'd buy the V12 over this. And I love that it's completely indistinguishable from the V12, which is a really nice touch as most car makers would've fitted some eye popping detail to the exterior which would never let you, and those around you, forget that you're in the cheaper car.

      It is a bit more complex. It is a very heavy car, the V12 is perfect for it. I test drove the T before buying the V12, and there is a massive difference. Now imagine an engine with way less torque and hp. It will feel sluggish and high strung. Part of what makes the V12 great, is its effortless nature. That engine is a must.
      Personally I also think it sounds a lot better than the 458 engine.

    Speaking of heresy... why is it styled like a C3 Corvette shooting brake?

    • @HesteBremse
      @HesteBremse 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well you might as well ask why most cars have 4 wheels. The first modern Shooting Brake derived from GM and a little later the C3 Conversion - but many other car makers adapted the shooting brake idea quite early on like e.g Volvo in 1972. Ferrari made their first FF in 2011 - So to imply heresy and saying it is styled like a C3 is quite a stretch. If you had said C7 it would have made more sense and still not been really valid in terms of styling. The only thing that can be regarded comparable is the idea of the Shooting Brake - It essentially relates to the estate cars box layout in combination with a sports car - A such it has nothing to do with styling. A a pair of pants is a pair of pants, they only differ by the styling applied and nobody regards it of much importance who made the first pair of pants, since that is a long time ago. Everything worth copying gets copied and altered - It´s sometimes called progress and unless you are the original creator and did not get your fair share of the invention calling out heresy is a heresy in it self.

    This engine is just pathetic. Who would buy a latest but detuned V8 for that price? An M5 or E63s is more practical and will out sprint it for half the price

      Honfy Lam I doubt they would outsprint it. It's a GT it doesn't need the same level of tune as the 488. If you want more power there's a V12 version. Those other two cars are cheaper for a reason.

      Higginz1220 the m5 does 0-60 in 3.1s and the E63s does it in 3.2. Wouldn’t you think a 200k brand new Ferrari need to easily out run a family sedan with 4 doors, big boot and about half the price?

      @Higginz-wk9rl 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The 0-60 is one aspect of the car and one aspect of the performance. You're talking fractions of a second and haven't mentioned the fact this car tops out at 199mph. The interior is beautiful and luxurious and does that without acres of dark, oppressive colours that seem to make up the majority of German interiors. You could easily option up the Merc to match this price - check it out if you don't believe me. You would also find the Merc and BMW wouldn't hold their values as well longer term - because they are just not as special. Everyone owns Mercs and BMWs these days.

    all these new cars are worthless. They're just iphones for the road, dumbed down for the ppl who can't drive or even understand the point of real cars.

      At the moment, 2009 v12 vantage. and a C6 Z06. Thinking bout gettin a 2000 Dodge Viper and tricking it out a bit. Going to look at it right now. All three cars are not faggotmobiles with wussy ass turbos and fucking paddle shifters and tons of other electronic shit that drives the car for you. I don't know ONE serious car person that doesn't share this sentiment. I've been racing cars and bikes since I was 8. The new cars suck ass. That's why Porsche was forced kicking and screaming to bring back the manual for the GT3. That's why motogp racers like Rossi, and others hate the electronics in racing because it's ruining the sport. F1 sucks now too. The tech's gone way to far and misses the entire point. It would be like having a golf ball that never hooked or sliced, which they can do. But they're banned. Or a computer guided basketball or jetpacks for the sprinters. Or a microphone that makes everyone sing like a fucking genius. It's lame. Nothing wrong with a period of development. Like Pianos or violins. But they've pretty much remained unchanged for a long time. and for good reason. Cars reached a high point years ago. Now, they're sucking pretty bad.

    Looks bad and is a bad GT 4 seater. The steering wheel is gaudy and reminds me of a PlayStation wheel. Buy a Panamera or something else FFS.
