  • Hi guys, with the 250th Ycs 's happening this weekend in London, Los Angeles and Bogotà, I tried to make a guide to the most relevant P.U.N.K. decks, explaining ratios, common trends and issues that need to be solved if you're planning to attend a big tournament. This engine has a ton of potential, but we didn't saw enough experiments in the first weeks of the Photon Hypernova format. Can it top the 250 th??
In the following video, I will show my actual deck profile + some combos that I haven't seen online! Stay tuned

My friend turned me to Gold pride punk. Also maining 2x cross out and 2x sales ban. I played pure punk in LA 250th. Sales ban and cross out did amazing but some reason my deck didn’t want to play main engine🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah that's another problem, the deck doesn't really have enough starters (12 + some combinations of the other ones), and if you get interrupted when you only draw one, you're basically losing the game. I'll discuss those points in the next video. The crossout is cool tho, especially if you play a bunch of tech cards!

Hi m8, have you looked into P.U.N.K Runick in general? I feel the deck has not been explored at all despite of the format. It's basically P.U.N.K core + 14-15-16 Runick quick-plays as non-engine.
The general idea is that every Runick quick-play spell is an extender. Multiple runicks draw into punks, and punk combo draws into runicks. You can even go for Hyper Librarian if you're greedy, or go for Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth to go against Nibiru. There's the level 5 Runick Fusion to climb into your level 8 Synchros which is perfect.
Amin + any Runick quick-play leads to Psychic End Punisher + Draw 2 + PUNK Trap + Shooting Majestic Star Dragon (level 11 Synchro from DAMA). The idea is that you summon the level 9 runick fusion at the end, go for Crimson Dragon and tag it by targeting PEP into Shooting Majestic Star Dragon.
That monster is perfect in a Runick strategy because it's an omninegate that banishes itself until the EP, which makes it hard to remove. In your own turn, it's still an omni and it also has built-in impermanence effect in your own turn.
In order to make up for the lack of your battle phase, we have to play a lot of removal. Well, PUNK has mass removal cards like Amazing Dragon and level 8 synchros like the Red Dragon Archfiend synchros. We can also play the new Scarred synchro because the Runick level 5 Fusion is DARK, but there's not actual use for that line I think.
I'm really curious about what you can say about this version, great job in the video!

Hi, I have never tried to experiment with that build, and I also left PUNK after the release of the second wave of Gold Prides. I read everything you wrote, and while it looks cool to have 15ish extender in the deck available at any point, I'm not sure if that's the way to go. What I like about Punks, and one card combo decks with not many engine requirements, is that they can establish a board/reach an Otk with just few cards, and also have insane amounts of space for non engine.
Are Runicks enough to win games going second? Is it worth to play such a big engine to just summon a lv9 (wich also isn't the main purpose of its strategy) on an average hand? Is it worth to expose an already fragile engine to other auto-lose buttons like Virus/antispell or even Droll, wich already hurts even a pure Punk? Also, if we're putting that many cards to just improve our going 1st, while still be forced to run suboptimal cards like Madame Spider and the trap to guarantee easier and non monster-related interrupts, maybe we are just overlooking our strategy.
Instead, if you just like the engines and you're trying to find a way to play both, be sure to go ahead! I will looking forward to see more in the future

@@bluemoy I've looked into a runick variant because it's the closest that resembles a playable version of "pure". You're completely right about the weaknesses, but many of those cards are weaknesses for basically every other punk variant as well. That's the problem with punk variants, they all share the same issues, some are better at something and worse at another thing, but none of them actually solve the deck. Your example with Punk Therion is perfect: you have to resolve both Diabolantis and Sargas to gain value from the Therions, none of those cards are Punk related. Any version that doesn't strictly rely on the level 8 synchro of choice to resolve AND can use the Deer Note revive in more ways is ahead compared to a version that relies on best case scenarios.
Running non-engine in form of Runicks can at least take the opportunity cost away of playing an additional engine that doesn't help going 2nd. All those cards are basically always useful because they can either contribute in drawing X cards or giving you non-tuners of several levels, which is a great thing to do in PUNK decks. If you get interrupted, runick cards can either extend or lead you to draw 2-3 cards and maybe continue the combo, and when you tie everything together you get rewarded with a good boss monster in addition to PEP.
The questions I'd ask myself would be 1) is Runick actually playable in the format? 2) why choose PUNK instead of well-known working strategies? The answer to the 2nd question is that I just want to play punk and there might be a chance to do so in a vacuum that is actually better than the other variants, that's basically it. I think the deck is very cheap as well because both punk and runick got reprinted, so you just need to get the extra deck stuff (crimson dragon and, surprisingly, shooting majestic star dragon are around 10 euros each)

I havent been to an in-person locals or any sort of YCS (including remote) before, but I have participated in, like, 16 man online tournies, so i figure thats probably comparable enough to locals. Only real difference would be that you wouldnt side for time playing on Omega.
If you're a fan of PUNK, i'd give PUNK Twins a try. Its what I won my last tourney with, this deck just has a lot of board control and it can run a lot of the good board breakers this format like Evenly and Eclipse without conflicting with the deck's gameplan. Synchro Link decks are just fucking gas, idk what else to say.

We need a Punk Fusion or Synchro for just the lvl 3 tuners for their playstyle not be so bricky when negated and not so linear and predictable. Otherwise Kashtira seems my play when the Punk Engine fails and vice-versa. But the biggest roadblock is when Carp is negated, if ever, a new punk card should have something to follow a negated Carp

    Heres an idea
Include Genex undyne and Genex controller like its mermail format all over again
It can send Therion Reaper to grave for cost so now you have 3 more ways to technically have a therion in rotation

That's cool, but unfortunately is just another normal summon (+1 brick). There is also Lonefire Blossom, wich is solid, but once again doesn't solve any issue going 2nd, can't be used under Arise-Heart ecc.
I think we need to work with something like Destrudo, who has value as discard but can also be used from hand; although, it doesn't really fit with the small PUNKs

    What about punk abc therion

    • @bluemoy
      @bluemoy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

If we look at it from the ABC perspective, sure it will improve. But if we're trying to have a better deck, I don't think that adding more normal summons will solve PUNK issues (especially going 2nd). We already have crazy 1 card combos, and the PUNK cards already can access the Therion engine. I believe that we need more efficiency rather than an higher ceiling. With that said, I want to explore Ancient Fairy more!

Pure punk is not good outside of locals and kashtira doesn't solve either archetypes problems. Punk therion is only good if you are discarding therion lily with foxy tune and if you cant discard a therion monster at all, you give away too much hand knowledge to a great player. We will have to wait and see if the second wave of gold pride cards are good.

Yeah I hope that too, maybe a lv5 and a lv7 with the same summoning conditions plus any sort of way to generate advantage!
