Making Kimbap - KOREAN SEAWEED ROLLS

- Today Mommy Oh shows us how to make Kimbap (Korean Seaweed Rolls). The main ingredients include unseasoned seaweed sheets and short grain white rice. You can use other rice as long as it is sticky enough. Basically we want the rolls to hold together :) As for the filling, you can put anything you want in it! In this video, Mommy Oh shows us how to make kimbap using egg, leafy greens, carrot, sesame seeds, spam, and fish cake. It's the same recipe she used for my school lunch as a kid! After Mommy Oh shows us how to make kimbap, I attempt to roll a couple myself. I'm not as experienced, so feel free to learn from my mistakes 😄 From our family to yours, hope you enjoy this dish as much as we have and even more ❤️

Hi! Kimbap is one of my favorite foods. I usually eat it with shrimp and avocado or salmon, cucumber and sesame seeds. I have noticed that koreans eat it with eggs as well but I've never tried it and I'm really curious what it tastes like. I haven't found a restaurant that has that option and I've never tried making it myself. I might as well give it a shot now!

If you can't find a roller, usually the dollar store has bamboo placements that are basically the same thing.

I miss all the Korean stores when I lived in Tacoma. Where I live now, there’s only 2 Korean stores and they’re not close 😕. I asked Hmart to bring stores to Florida lol

I was introduced to kimbap when I taught conversational English in Seoul. I was invited to many picnics where I came to really enjoy it. To this day I will gobble down way more than I should, mostly because I purchased it as takeout from a Korean restaurant and didn’t put in the time to make it. It’s not that difficult so I should endeavor to make my own in the near future. Thnx for the tips!!

When I was a young, Spam was kind of luxury ingredient for Kimbap.
Most of time, my mom used 'fish sausage' (the pink one).
But, it was good though.

I've tried making kimbap a couple of times because it's just so delicious, but I always have trouble cutting it. I also haven't put the sesame oil on it at the end, so will do that next time for sure! Love seeing Mommy Oh's recipes.
