well the combination of gimbap is endless actually~ thats the beauty of this Korean soul food. Mangcchi should recommend Korean clear bean sprout soup to go with gimbap for her audiences, its my fav combination including side dish of pickled radish and kimchi
I used to always get gimbap on my way to university for lunch between classes, from a local convenience store. Now I can make it myself for my lunches at work, thank you!!!
Hi, Chinese here. I learnt how to make traditional kimchi from you couple months ago. Now I’m here to learn to make gimbap. I still remember when I first ate gimbap, I said it was sushi, my Korean housemates’ faces were not so good, they corrected me. That was embarrassing. This is a really good video to show people the difference between gimbap and sushi. I like it.
I love your accent, and u seem as a very nice lady as you are a sweet hard and beautiful lady as well.I am Palestinian and my best friend at high school was Korean ,her parents owned a restaurant in Greece and i just loved the food they used to make,My daughter loves Korean people and keeps watching Korean series,You are very good at your work,,good job ,and best wishes to you and your family.
I have fifty million things I need to be doing around the house however I’m going to make Gimbap instead. It would be much easier if y’all adopted me. Then I could eat your cooking everyday. Thanks for the video!
I found this video when I was in high school and decided to cook it one Sunday and bring it to school every day during the week. To this day, I still think about how delicious it was. Thank you :)
Dear Maangchi, I have a wife, 7 daughters and a son. We eat American and Mexican food. Both are not too healthy. We are now switching to Korean and Japanese food as our primary food cooking style. I am going to H-Mart in San Jose CA tomorrow and spending $500 on ingredients, cookware etc.. I will make the trip to H-Mart once per month to buy meats, kimchee and other Korean goods as we need them. Korean is my #1 favorite food! :) I am going to Vlog it all and post the video! I can't wait!
American and Mexican food can be healthy, look more into Southwest cuisine which is full of vegetables and lean meats. Not so much the stuff that they often serve in restaurants that is coated in cheese. But enjoy the cooking adventure! I recently got into making Korean and Chinese food at home. I wish we had an H-Mart nearby, but we have one called the 99 Ranch Market which is also great. I had the basic kitchenware to substitute to get started. I do want a new wok and a bigger steamer someday. Have fun 🙂
You can also make a bunch of kimchi at home instead of always buying it pre made! In the end it’s cheaper and you can make it together with your family as bonding time~
As someone who have tried all of it, I think healthiness depends on the dish. Some Chinese dishes involve a lot of soy sauce and sugar, which isn't good health wise, but it's tasty. The Japanese have a lot of sea food dishes. They are great, but sea food isn't recommended too often health wise. You just have to find the right nutritional balance between all the dishes. Good luck.
So I finally tried this at home and I’m literally so proud of myself. They turned out pretty darn good for my first time. It took me a while to do because I’m a slow cook but I completed it and always had this video on hand. Thank you! You’re amazing💕
Aah I made kimbap for the first time today! When I went to the Korean market for the ingredients, I was able to speak to the Lady working there in Korean. She was so excited to talk to me about kimbap and show me where the danmuji was! Thank you for the recipe! I had so much fun learning more about Korean culture and the kimbap was delicious!! 💞😋

For our “What’s on the Menu?” unit we were doing, we learnt how to make Kimbap at school, taught by Ms. Jimin, the class learning assistant for the Y4 Dingo Class, and Y3 Panther and Lion Classes. Unfortunately, we used Crabmeat instead of Lobster/Beef, didn’t use a bamboo mat, or roasted the seaweed(already roasted)...

I followed this recipe and brought kimbap to a potluck party and everyone loved it. They even asked for recipe and I directed them to this video. Your videos are always inspirational 😍
I made gimbap for my grandfather for his birthday dinner and he absolutely loved it. He also loves cooking so I showed him your channel and he told me that he's been watching your videos ever since I made gimbap for him. Maangchi, you inspire me everyday to cook through this quarantine.
My interest in gimbap grew with "Extraordinary Attorney". Using sesame oil rather than rice vinegar on the rice makes rolls distinctly Korean. I'm now long acquainted with using sesame oil and garlic for delicious side dishes. Everything works with Gimbap! I intentional save small leftover dishes for inclusion. No recipe needed beyond the gim and the bap preparation. Endless combinations.
Kimbap makes me happy... I like korean food more than the typical food of my country :D because everything is spicy and with sesame oil and seeds!! so yummy!!
This woman is amazing I craved to try Kimbap for a while but they don’t sell it where I live. I had to go to London to try it in a restaurant but it wasn’t that great. I came home and made this and it totally blew my mind and my son loved it too. I wish I could add a pic as it come out perfectly for a first attempt. Thank you so much for this tutorial xx
I made kimbap last night for dinner, and it was so yummy. I was so satisfied. Afterwards I felt super proud of myself. 😂 I kinda stressed myself out for nothing, it really is as easy as making a sandwich. ❤ Thank you.
This makes me tear up. 🥹 My daughter is in South Korea and is a teacher. She loves her precious students. They are such a blessing. She loves gimbap.❤ Thank you for such wonderful videos! I have learned so much and love to watch you! So does my daughter! God bless you! ❤
Dear Maangchi, I discovered your channel a couple of months ago and I have been hooked since. Your presentation and commentary is so relatable and adorable. Thanks for sharing all the goodness of Korean Food with the rest of the world! I am writing to you from Accra, Ghana ( West Africa ). I had the good fortune to visit a Korean-Japanese restaurant recently and got to try bulgogi kimbap. It was so flavourful. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I also tried kimchi Jeon, it was absolutely great. I understand now why Koreans love Kimchi!!! I will definitely try my hands at making them at home. Keep the recipes and videos coming. PS: What side dishes would you recommend to have with kimbap?
We eat kimbap with soda, or kimchi, or tteokbokki(stir-fried rice cake).. every food is good with gimbap :) I really like gimbap with tteokbokki sauce. Its spicy but so nice!

Thank you for sharing this video! I lived in a co-op in college and my Asian housemates made this for our special occasions each month. I loved learning how to make this from them. This video reminded me of how much fun I had learning from my friends more than 20 years ago. I had forgotten the names of many of the ingredients, so it was nice to find this information. I am so happy I found your channel!

I have fifty million things I need to be doing around the house however I’m going to make Gimbap instead. It would be much easier if y’all adopted me. Then I could eat your cooking everyday. Thanks for the video!
Hope it tasted good lol
Lol
Forreal right. Adopt me too
Brings me back to my time in Osan. Now I’m watching TH-cam videos at midnight on a Saturday night. Lol
Mexican food can be healthy as well. I grew up eating Mexican and Guatemalan food. Both were full of many veggies!
Good luck.
American food can be healthy, as long as you look at portion size and what your using in it.
So I finally tried this at home and I’m literally so proud of myself. They turned out pretty darn good for my first time. It took me a while to do because I’m a slow cook but I completed it and always had this video on hand. Thank you! You’re amazing💕
Congratulations!

Malayalam sub please
For our “What’s on the Menu?” unit we were doing, we learnt how to make Kimbap at school, taught by Ms. Jimin, the class learning assistant for the Y4 Dingo Class, and Y3 Panther and Lion Classes. Unfortunately, we used Crabmeat instead of Lobster/Beef, didn’t use a bamboo mat, or roasted the seaweed(already roasted)...

Maangchi hello maangchi, can you write the ingredient on your video description? That would help me to more understand,, thankyou,
I made gimbap for my grandfather for his birthday dinner and he absolutely loved it. He also loves cooking so I showed him your channel and he told me that he's been watching your videos ever since I made gimbap for him. Maangchi, you inspire me everyday to cook through this quarantine.
👍
My interest in gimbap grew with "Extraordinary Attorney". Using sesame oil rather than rice vinegar on the rice makes rolls distinctly Korean. I'm now long acquainted with using sesame oil and garlic for delicious side dishes. Everything works with Gimbap! I intentional save small leftover dishes for inclusion. No recipe needed beyond the gim and the bap preparation. Endless combinations.
Same here
Kimbap makes me happy... I like korean food more than the typical food of my country :D because everything is spicy and with sesame oil and seeds!! so yummy!!

I came home and made this and it totally blew my mind and my son loved it too. I wish I could add a pic as it come out perfectly for a first attempt.
Thank you so much for this tutorial xx
Oh wow! Happy to hear that you made delicious gimbap!
I made kimbap last night for dinner, and it was so yummy. I was so satisfied. Afterwards I felt super proud of myself. 😂 I kinda stressed myself out for nothing, it really is as easy as making a sandwich. ❤ Thank you.
Wonderful! Continued success with your Korean cooking!
