Fantastic episode! The performance has had me looking at trimarans recently. But finding one that's suitable to cross oceans and affordable isn't easy.
Looks great fun, well done to have safely made it round. I did notice that it appeared that you had not moved the Genoa sheet pulley forward, upwind with reduced sail. That is why the leach was flapping so much.
Yeah was going to but was a bit hectic with other boats and didn’t want one of the new crew to try and adjust it in those conditions. Would have made a good bit of difference though!
I'm not sure what is most outrageous; you're calling 30 knot gusts a storm, or your describing Clover spread as butter. Either way your crew in shorts and a hawaiian shirt upwind in those conditions was very British (I was there, in full oilies). Kudos.
Yep saw top gusts of 35kts which is technically a gale on the wind scale. But yes calling clover butter is ways more outrageous! Shorts all summer long is a rule for us British! You dry out surprisingly quickly!
@@AlexGoesSailing you mean freeze-dried! Technically you need something like ten minutes sustained wind speed to say it was Force whatever, and as British we should always be underplaying it. 35 knots is "breeze did get up a bit for a while".
Yes sheeting angles, also the main luff tension, however I am sure he will figure it out. The most important is he sailing conservatively and safely. Anyone like the music?🤣
Nice race so do you plan to race allot or as I used to do one good race every year to hone skills and give a date once a year when the sailing gear is in well maintained condition
Well done getting round given the conditions! Looks like it was loads of fun.
Cheers! Was quite the race, loads of fun with friends!
Cracking race lads position is nowt fun is everything. I hope you made it to the pub. RNLI are legend.
We definitely did! Thank you!

Yes quite tricky to find that’s for sure! Assume that’s why everyone gets catamarans 🤔
Enjoyed the race Well done to all of you.
Thanks Jeff!
Awesome editing on this video! Well done for making it round…we stopped at the needles! Hope to see you out there this year
Thank you! Will see you this year! Will probably be at the folly the night before.
Well done
Thank you!

@@AlexGoesSailing if you stand on the sheet in front of the pulley, it is easy to move , even under some tension.
@@markthomasson5077 that’s a great tip thank you!
When you said Nikita was joining you, I😁 pictured the hot blond from the original Nikita TV show, not some bloke.
Haha! Sorry to get you all excited!
Young enough not to remember Nikita Khrushchev I guess 😂
@@TheAegisClaw indeed😂
Nice looks so much fun :))
It was!!!
Good one..!!!
Thank you!!!
She can pick up a fair bit of speed and much less keeling over. great video 2x👍
Indeed she can! Quite the learning curve!
Did race 30 yrs ago was fun
That’s awesome!
Well done, 12knts is pretty cool
Thank you! Imagine if I wasn’t playing it safe!
@@AlexGoesSailing you might have hit 14knts just before you went underwater 🤣

@@Lightw81 😂 that’s brilliant!
Great vid, was looking forward to this one. Are you doing it this year? I'm entered for my first time. Just as crew though!
I think I will be! Will park up down at the folly the night before so probably the best place to spot me.
Well done! That flapping leach of your jib was triggering me a bit through the video, thought.

Yes that did annoy me too! Will be adjusting that. Did it with the line a week before but wasn’t enough in this race. Thanks for watching!
@@richardrichard508 indeed I will! Wasn’t supper happy with the reefing situation so will be adjusting it a bit.

Only this race! It’s a fun one and a good challenge. Racing isn’t my thing but this one is good fun with friends.
You forgot to tell us whether Meraki or Mingulay had the better time!!!
Definitely Meraki did as this wasn’t the race for a tri!
Once you have her set up well, she will fly up wind…well in a flat sea.
Yeah in calmer water she is a bit better up wind. Just trimaran things!
So this was last year?
Good vid!
Yes it was!
Banana's on a boat 🙈
I know 🤦♂️
One slice of ham per sandwich? TH-cam money ain’t what it used to be.
Didn’t even have enough for cheese ☹️
Throw away that weird lens. The distorted view is very off putting.
Just the 360 cam! I was down a camera that day so didn’t have a choice unfortunately.
Not even any cheese on the sammich??? 4/10 on the sammich skills.
Unfortunately not! Cheese had already been eaten through!
