Im a Warrant fan and i used to watch The Word every friday night as a teenager. Loved it. But i obviously missed this and had no idea that Warrant were ever on the show! Bad idea getting them though, UK was in the throngs of Stone Roses, Nirvana etc. That said, I'm still a HUGE Warrant fan. Cheers Terry.

I remember watching this at the time and being mortified at how the band were treated. Their agent messed up badly putting them on The Word. Talk about the wrong show/audience for a Glam Metal band. But, I still think the show's producers should have made sure that they weren't treated like this. RIP Jani Lane.

jerry, erik and joey should have jumped off stage and kicked the shit out of them

How many TV shows then and now played non indie or pop bands . Terry should have been slapped hard .

The drummer (i forget his name at the moment) looked totally pissed off towards the end and didn't want to finish the song.

@@soeffingwhat Steven Sweet. And yep, you can’t blame him. Absolute fucking bell-ends in the audience.

@@tolkienoo Not that the audience would have known but there was a good bit of negativity about Warrant's album Cherry Pie at that time, namely the knowledge that apparently neither Joey Allen or Eric Turner (is that his name?) performed the solos on it (although I understand they did play the rhythm parts). Even Steve Lukather spoke negatively about that. Its a shame that when they released Dog Eat Dog, which is imho, way better than Cherry Pie, it did feature fine playing from both JA and ET but it came out at the wrong time, ie 1993 when Grunge started taking over. As a bassist I think Jerry Dixon is a fine bassist, not like Bobby Dall from Poison who openly stated that he never wanted to be a musician, just a "rockstar".

The audience were like Spinal Tap giving the thumbs down, I think they threw some items

Yes, actual Cherry Pies were handed to the Audience who proceeded to throw them at the band.

From memory this went down like a lead balloon, the presenters were sneering at them

Just seeing this for the first time. Wow. Throwing pies at the band…yeah, wrong show for them. They powered through it though.

Woah, the key change takes this song into another dimension!

The crowd were given cherry pies to eat and threw them at the band. The greatest act of social disobedience a 19 year old had ever seen. Even now it's strange that a hair band like Warrant were on a UK 'yoof' program considering the music that was popular at the time; house and the Manchester sound. That accent of Terry Christian's to kiwi ears was and still is weird.

It's weird to most of our ears in England !

It was somewhat popular back then to throw things or even spit at performers onstage. I remember it used to happen at a number of concerts. Thankfully that didn't last too long.

Warrant just played on the word the crap tv show from the 1990's just before the Brit pop bands the gingle jangle took over, it wasn't going to happen!

The Word was a good TV show I think, just not right for Warrant.
