The name Rajeff rings out in the world of competitive fly casting. Brothers Tim and Steve have been a force of nature for decades, holding a slew of records between them. Like any siblings, there’s been a little competition too.
“In order to beat my brother, I had to learn a whole new way of casting,” Tim told me.
Tim did eventually best his brother with a style of casting he playfully refers to as “Abstract Hyper-Distance Theory”
“It’s abstract because you would never fish that way,” he explains.
Still, much of this casting technique has made it into real fly fishing. Some of the best casters I know use Tim’s technique very effectively in their fly fishing. It’s not for the faint of heart but if you are looking to throw long casts, even in heavy wind, this will help you do it. - กีฬา

"Funny" to read all the "super heros" commenting. I only fish two hand rods, because my back can't handle singles, but when I "play", or fish a spot, that I can reach with "normal" casting, I do more or less the same - and it works for me too.

I love this. It's a very "eastern" approach to fly casting. What you describe is very much like "the perfect punch": starts on the ball of your back foot, pushes hips forward, hips turn torquing shoulder, shoulder pushes arm forward, elbow extends, wrist snaps and viola. Perfect transition of force.

That's great for competition. But this is why I have to reteach clients how to cast without rocking the boat when they get on my skiff

Can you expand on the setup you are using? Fly line type, weight, rod weight, action?
I tried your Echo Man stance but kept falling over in the water I went back to a more upright standing position but I used your special effects sounds like Swoosh and swisssh
Hi, what type of fly line would you recommend to a 6yr fly fishermen? I Fish a lot of lakes (New Zealand) but looking at getting into more challenging river fishing (indicator etc) What is a good fly line brand o stick too? I run a $500 airflow setup but ready to move on.

No need in doing all this when fly fishing. Your normal cast will work just fine
None of this relates to real trout river fishing. You can't have that long of loops...plus this KILLS your accuracy.. but for distance casting this is fun!
Trout maybe not. Off a jetti chasing stripers? Maybe? In a big river wading out to a run? Maybe? In a med size river with weird shuffling pockets of pools leading to a break section? Maybe? In pursuit of improving your skills? Definitely. The reality is that if you can sink a free throw from half court every time. Then the free throw line is a cake walk.
That's shocking casting. Look at 3.56 on the video. On the last forward cast the rod tip bounces everywhere. Not smooth and certainly not a sudden stop. Lots of energy will be lost for sure. Let the rod do the work and stop trying to break your arm
NO!!! none of us can use that in our regular casting stroke for fishing ! Lol
What the? Try setting up and perfecting this technique on the ocean in a 20 knott head wind. Clearly a still-water flyfisher. Give me a break!
Clearly this is meant for bank, shore or shallow water casting but I think it’s safe to say he has a lot more flats/ skiff fly fishing under his belt than most people.
