  • I believe that most fly anglers don’t practice their casting because they don’t really know how.
Most anglers count on fishing time to improve their casting. Fishing and practicing are two very different things and if you are working on your cast while fishing, you’re not doing either one very well. Practicing, without a plan, isn’t that productive either. Simply going out on the lawn and hucking as much line as possible isn’t an effective way to practice. In fact, it can reinforce bad habits.
Of course, if you’re really struggling, the best thing to do is work with a casting instructor. That’s a commitment, so we thought we’d lower the bar and bring the casting instructor to you. I spent an afternoon with champion caster, Tim Rajeff on his casting pond and he shared a simple practice plan that will build skills and reinforce good habits.

to all the people in TH-cam! As Tim have mentioned earlier about getting names on the FFF list for casting lesson, Master or certified casters on the FFF list don't reply you most of the time so don't waste your time with the people in the FFF list and look for another source for casting lesson like your local pro shop or hire a guide who is teacher for day of fishing and working for technical stuff. One lame excuse I heard from another "master" or "certified" caster is that they are busy with their career and don't have time to give lessons. Well then don't put the name up making me waste my time.

Tim- I have a beautiful casting pond just feet from my house. I want to know however, how do you put those targets out there and anchor them at certain distances? I am not sure how to do that.

Most likely an Echo. As I recall he owns that company. Good rods too.

Here's an accuracy trick; put your first finger on top of the rod-handle spine.
Turn your wrist over so the handle settles into your palm.
Then on your forward stroke, end it by aiming your finger at your target.
