I just started fly fishing a few weeks ago and just learned the double haul (self taught). Took about 4 hours of breaking it down step by step to being able to get a decent flow. However, it’s not consistent and it can get sloppy. I’m practicing almost daily and so far got me up to 70’. Your second tip was pure gold. That was my issue lol....thank you!!!

Judging by the fact the rod isn't very flexible i'd say it's graphite
It's an instructor's rod. They paint them white so you can see them more clearly.
