- Who makes the best southern fried chicken? Is it a nationwide UK fast food restaurant chain KFC or is it a UK nationwide restaurant bar chain the Alchemist. In this video I compare versions from both places to see who's best.

The alchemists chicken serving basket looked both annoying to eat from and a health and cleaning nightmare.
It was a big difficult to eat lol
Just take the food out the basket and put it on the plate that is underneath the basket. I'm assuming that is what it is there for.
To judge KFC you have to get the real deal, which is on the bone
Howdy combo King. The Alchemist at twice the price along with bbq sauce dry looking slaw and a stupid wire mesh thingy is a no from me. KFC I visit regularly but I have to say it can be hit and miss. Sometimes the chicken can be dry and lukewarm ( I like bone in such thigh etc. ) or the chips are almost cold. However, I personally have no problem whatsoever going back up to the counter and insisting on fresher warmer food. Simples! KFC all day long. Great review buddy. 👍
Love how the meal is served in the chicken basket, that is brilliant. It also looked the better of the two restaurants. Great review again xx

The Alchemist serving their meal out of an egg basket , yes that's exactly what it was as we have one in our kitchen....they're great for eggs but not sure I'd like to try eating out of it .
Not a fan of KFC but given the option at half the price and easier to eat then I have to say on this occasion they'd win.
KFC cause I prefer supercharger and gravy to bbq

You said how the chips come with seasoning, which I’m really not a fan of and if you order on line there is no option to allow you to ask for the chips to come without seasoning. I think seasoning is always a personal choice and a choice should be available. I’m unaware though if you actually visit a KFC if you can ask for chips without seasoning. The gravy is always a must. That chicken in the basket was just weird ! The basket I mean. Just why 🤷🏼♀️
This is a difficult one for me, I love KFC, it is my favorite takeaway, the fries at the Alchemist look better but KFC fries never did it for me anyway. The chicken looked better at the Alchemist also... My vote and it pains me ti say is, the Alchemist. If you could add the KFC gravy to that meal also, it would be a gift from god

For a “special” occasion I would go to The Alchemist or similar place at that price for the superior food but I’m still happy enough with the KFC at the much cheaper price.

The alchemist was the better looking for me even though it was double the price of the kfc i would still pay it i don't think it was too overpriced.
Its probably about average for a trendy bar/restaurant

I would more ask if KFC is more the place people go, because there are more KFC in the Uk i found there is over 1,000 stores VS any other places you can get chicken from.
But with so much option in supermarkets that are very much like kfc or any other chicken places
But with this KFC prices have gone up. it is hard to say that it is value any more.
Now since we do not have the restaurant near many of us then we can not pick it since we can never go to it.
plus only 4 pieces of chicken is not very much. and £19 it is a stupid price i can get a steak for that much money.
and you can get a lot of chicken in aldi and cook it your self in the oven
it is not value, but neither is KFC now.
They have all tried but none come close to KFC

Well you pays yer money and makes your choice😮A basic take- a- way meal @ KFC.is a fine,but small portion of fries? Traditional chicken fillets. Pop corn nibbles i think are processed meat rather than whole chicken breast meat.Never got the idea of dipping crispy food into gravy 😮. So i'd be happy enough with the meal. The Alchemist, a bit flash and razzmatazz. Weird serving wire basket 😢 hard to access the food,i would decant the food onto the plate. Couldn't see the portion size of the fries, the chicken seemed fresh& crunchy. Small coleslaw,but vibrant looking side dish .B,B.Q sauce,thick& slick,your view,tasty❤ Cost,about2 to 1 meals for KFC the original and still a happy memory on the tongue ❤KFC for me Allan&Family

The Alchemist takes it today! Good looking meal there. The coleslaw looked to be more like a classic Southern US style slaw. KFC UK seems to have moved waaay away from it's Kentucky roots and become more "fast-foody". One thing lacking in both meals: Biscuits! Here, in the US, we wouldn't dare eat a fried chicken meal without a warm, fluffy buttermilk biscuit with butter and honey! And no... Buttermilk biscuits are Nothing like scones! They just look similar!
Unfortunately, fries are becoming all too common here too. Traditionally, Potato salad is served if having cold fried chicken for a picnic or hot mashed potatoes bathed in gravy for a hot meal.
I would love to try American biscuits!
Restaurant was the best even if it was pricey
Whenever you vist a restaurant there is never any steam coming off the food I prefer the 2nd restaurant it looked so much nicer and chicken looked so much fresher I prefer the second restaurant 😊

The KFC where i live is at best ok. the chicken is greasy and the coating falls off. So it's a big no from me . the other place looked much better
KFC had southern fried chicken in many different places but its the coating on the chicken in KFC that is the best

@johnchapmonkey8933 the man in the Video I believe said Alchemist cost £19...you have plenty of substitute KFC places and the food is much cheaper and get more value for money. As an example...there is a fast food place in Uxbridge North London that does a lunch time meal at £5.99 ..for that you get 2 wings.. 2 Chicken strips...One piece of Chicken..portion of Fries and a soft drink plus whatever sauces you wish...2 people can eat this (the chicken pieces are very Generous in size)..KFC is well overated and overpriced...it was great till the mid 90s but is rubbish in general...which is a real shame as they were defacto... one thing to bare in mind that it is fast food and once in while is good otherwise it is not good for your health on a daily basis.

I'm out on Leeds every Saturday, that's a "normal" price in a chain, in a good area, with decent staff. It's not as if you can't get chicken & chips as cheap as you like, wherever you like........actually last Sat l was out in Bingley, 2 glasses of wine were £17!
50 years ago. Hi Ken in a basket was so sophisticated but if you wanted be really posh , you would go for Scampi in a basket , how gullible we were then .

I doubt anyone will believe me but... the best chicken strips I've ever had were served at Washington, DC strip club. And by strip club I mean an establishment where young ladies remove their clothing, not a club for chicken strips.
The strips always had just enough breading on them, weren't over cooked, and were surprisingly cheap.
Granted, such a place probably wouldn't be a good candidate for your TH-cam channel. "Everything but the food is blurred out, but I assure you, the club was delicious!"

I love southern fried chicken & KFC meal was worth what you paid, the chicken looked nice but thought portion size of fries was small. The Alchemist - there looked to be more chicken to this meal than KFC & i liked the sides of coleslaw & the bourbon & maple syrup bbq sauce ( this is also available in wetherspoons with some of their meals). However, I'd find this meal awkward to eat from the wire basket, preferred KFC to this. Thank you for this great review, take care 💜 X
I just do not like the idea of paying more than twice the KFC price at the Alchemist!+ i dislike Corriander and so KFC for me.
Day light robbery at the alchemist and that too, in that ridiculous gimmicky chicken wire basket. KFC all day for me!!
Chicken looks good however I would expect a bit more for 15 quid. KFC is incredibly hit and miss, can be very dry.

The KFC no matter where you get it from is nowhere near half as bad and nearly 20 pounds for that is robbery of the worst kind.
Here in the US in Ohio...KFC has gone WAY down hill. It is really nasty.

I think a lot of folks r tuned in to cheap, full of chemicals, highly processed food, that has msg in to make it tasty. I have to say, I haven't had a KFC, McDonald's,Wendy,taco, etc etc for more than 30 years. I stick to local Chinese,Indian, pizza but not often...... You can cook your own chips and chicken if U learn!! 😅😊 X
You could have poured the food out of the basket onto the plate, I think kfc is really horrible, haven't eaten it in years, the kfcs I walk passed always smells of insipid fat smells, it tastes nothing like it used to be many years ago, I'd rather pay extra for decent tasting chicken and chips.
