We’re confused too. No idea why they’re called “premium”, except maybe as a marketing tool.
They are NOT seasoned with anything in the breading, which is weird because the tenders ARE. They have pepper and stuff in them.
The nuggets tend to be a little juicier, but that’s about all they have going for them. They are at least “whole” breast pieces and not ground, so there’s that I suppose.
I mean isn't the whole idea of nuggets basically just that they're a vector to get sauce into your mouth?
That's why tenders and stuff that you're more likely to eat with less/no sauce are more highly seasoned

Chicken nuggets are the option for kids who don't want the food to taste of anything. Which seems to be most of them right now.

The chicken tenders at Arbys are just about the only thing I buy besides the French dip with swiss cheese.
I think something worth bearing in mind is that chicken nuggets tend to be targeted at kids, who are notorious for their distaste for nuance in flavour and sensative palettes. You could definitely make a more flavourful nugget, but the blandness is kind of the (unfortunate) appeal.

I think you are onto something, but the main thing is that most kids dip and prefer a drier product. That said Chick-fil-A flavors tenders and nuggets differently for both kids and adults.
Former Wendy’s employee. Filtered oil every 4 hours every single day, completely changed every week with fryers completely cleaned out.
thats what most places are supposed to do but then you have managers trying to cut corner to save money because their store doesnt do good enough number or they get a bonus for it it sounds like you had a good manager and a good store

As a fitting room attendant in a popular retail chain, that really pissed me off when he said he defecated on in the fitting room and used clothes to wipe his ass, and shoved it under the bench. I always wondered what the people who do that look like and I'm not surprised

I think the main "take away" is that the restaurants just don't really care about the nuggets on their menu. Its kind of just "oh, well its a mainstay so we have to have them on the menu" - the tenders video would be interesting to see the comparison in quality

My two favs are Mickey D's simply for the nostalgia and Chic-fil-a because of the light breading. You get a bunch of chicken flavor compared to just average breading.
CFA nuggets changed my life. The chicken quality is just so much better than most of the others.

What I hate about fast food is lack of consistency on sides (fries). The same goes for nuggets. One day they can be hot, fresh and decent. The next they are cold, old, greasy and inedible.
It fully depends on which teenagers are in the kitchen that day unfortunately. I say this from experience since I worked at CFA in high school and that kitchen was all teenagers.
Every popeyes I've ever been to has absolutely over achieved the portions and I love it. I went to one here in ohio about 30 minutes before close for a 6 piece tender and they gave me ALL THE TENDERS THEY HAD LEFT. I went home with 27 tenders and a bucket of fries for $9.
Chicken places are the best at closing time. I remember an off-brand takeout in Cambridge near my apartment. I'd go in there just before 10 pm and buy a two-piece and they'd empty the rack into a bag and say thanks for coming in. Good flavor, too.
But...my one dig against King Popeyes is that they don't have a size standard for their birds (or just don't follow it) and sometimes it's like they're using game hens. So getting any bonus in an order is a total prize there.
That’s crazy. I’ve been to like 5 Popeyes near where I live and they’ll turn the fryers off 1+ hours before closing and tell you you’re out of luck if you try ordering something.

2. Being a truck driver and doing weekly loads in Austin I feel like I recognize some of these fast food locations and cringe when I think about the traffic.

I didn't go back and rewatch or anything but I tried to locate each one of those stores and honestly I can't recognize where any of them are but I bet I've been in one or two.
I also noticed was there was ONE car at the Shake Shack. That's unheard of. There has to be a story there.
Living outside the USA, and am constantly surprised at the number of fast food brands there are in the US.
It's a staple of our country's culture unfortunately.

Last time I wanted to visit US was when TV started to show all that "American dream" and good life, but ever since Internet I have found the opposite to be true and would not go to that place if that means that I have to LOOK for good food (and not only because of that). That is absurd and sounds degenerate for me. I am good travelling to other countries and skip USA. Only thing I would like to see is some nature wonders and I might go to USA one day just because of that, but food-wise I would cook myself just to be sure.

As someone who used to work at McDonalds, their spicy nuggets are AMAZING when they’re fresh out of the fryer and we’ve just changed the oil. Not close to Chik-fil-A or Popeyes, but my God. Since I only worked in the kitchen I’d always hook my co-workers up with fresh food whenever they went on break. Safe to say, everyone loved me. It was a fun job.
What's funny is I see other people saying they had fun at McDonald's. It must not be the worst place to work

I'd say you should definitely do a video of each chicken tender. From what I saw in this video, there were not a lot of places with nuggets, which I find surprising.

That chic fil a rating is wild... they have amazing nuggets. They are usually seasoned very well. But we will just have to agree to disagree.
I got a nice little trio near where I live, McD's, Arby's, and Chick-fil-A...I've tried nuggets at all three and every time it's the ones from CFA that win with me, I usually get a 30 piece and it's like...20 odd bucks cause I'm getting a meal version of it with fries. If I go to McD's it's damn near mandatory I have to get a 40 piece and an extra 10 along with it cause they just don't fil me up for some reason unless I do that. There's a Wendy's not too far from those three but I absolutely hate their nuggets and the only good thing I've had from there is the spicy chicken sandwich. Arby's? I usually only get food from them when I have a coupon but I've yet to have a bad meal from there...if I could use coupons at the others I would, it's also the same reason I go to Wendy's...if I got a coupon to get a cheaper deal it's a no brainer in this economy.
Yeah I love the light sweetness of the chick fil a nuggets. I usually get those or the strips when I go there. The strips seem to have a little more breading.

He puts a lot of value in stuff the average consumer of fast food just wouldn't care about. The average fast food consumer isn't going to care about salt levels and any spices used beyond what makes it taste decent. The only thing they and he would agree on would be the old cooking oil...can't tell you how many Burger Kings I've gone to where that is a MAJOR issue.

So as a person who worked at chick fil a, what we did was dump a bunch of nuggets on a milk wash tray and dumped them all in the flour. We then shook the flour and then put it in the fryer. You would need to do this process at least three times to fully coat the nuggets.

I think the best way to review the taste would be ordering them and then putting them in line without the box. The Critic shouldn't know which is from which. And then eat one by one.
Actually for once I disagree, yes I love the "guess what is what" videos, but if you score food, I'm really enjoying that Joshua is eating the food hot as soon as he can, never trusted those videos when the food seems like it was sitting there forever.

Finding a couple extra nuggets brought back a memory. I used to love Churches nuggets. I had mono and was loosing weight so my mom would take me there. I had two friends who worked there and they would Always give me extra ones. Oh-I live in France and my McDo has spicy nuggets.

When i was a kid, my mom very often fry instant frozen chicken nugget, serve it with rice and sweet soy sauce, plus boiled bland veggies, and we only eat those for the whole day. As a kid, i realized back then my family may be struggling with money, and have to do this many time to cut costs. And thats why i am very grateful and love nuggets to this day.
But years later, i actually found out that it turns out my family was not just rich, but powerful in the government as well. My mom cooked nuggets with soy all the time because she and my dad just love it, and they would often get McDonnald's nugget with sundae on their dates lol

If you do an onion ring video, you need to do the onion chips at White Castle, remove the bias.
I hate White Castle with a passion and it's not biased based on anything other than their lousy food and entitled attitude.
However, a few months ago they opened a store just a 5-minute drive from me, and I've never tried these onion chips, so, purely on your recommendation, and in the interest of science, I'm going to open that coffin and see if there's any redemption to be laid upon them.

At my old burger joint (RIP) I developed this recipe for my nuggets as 70% ground chicken thighs 30 % ground bacon. Breading straight Panko. They were surreal. Miss them. RIP Fininhos Burger

I usually find myself in agreement with Joshypoo on most things, but his opinions on CFA are pretty out there. There's definitely a personal bias in there somewhere because CFA is easily the absolute best fried chicken in the fast food business.

I haven't had too many bad chick fil a experiences in GA. It happens, but by a huge margin, I've had crispy, juicy chicken. Nuggets aren't super breaded, but I like that. You get basicslly all chicken with some good texture. Well seasoned. I don't understand the hate.

I say that we definitely need a chicken tender comparison . Better meat ( my guess is that they're all a piece of breast ) would give you a far better experience . I mean , at the end of the day it's fast food . It'll never beat a good chef in a restaurant that cares about their product . But for quick , on the run , or late night fast food is hard to beat .
