- Fried chicken is one of the most popular meals in the UK along with fish and chips and a full english breakfast, but what is the difference between KFC and Popeyes? Well, I head inside both to try out their most popular fried chicken meals to see who is best!

Prefer a KFC always! 😂 KFCs in Spain still use the original McDonalds which really ads to the meal.

Well done for asking who makes the BETTER fried chicken . Many other vlogers when comparing only two establishments erroneously say BEST . impressed .
KFC in the UK is VERY hit or miss... I go knowing it could be nice or nasty.. Nasty for me is usually sweaty chicken cold chips and very very slow service...
Popeyes in Cardiff is new, I love Popeyes when I go to visit my son in the USA and ALWAYS get some landing and going home to the UK from Jaxsonville. Its great service, always flavoursome and zero concerns.. The Cardiff wine had a high bar to meet and while it wasn't as great in terms of super friendly service (but definitely NOT awful) the food had a little less flavour than the USA chain.
But by a country mile, Popeys SMASHES KFC in all food departments.. I don't mind paying the extra. Welcome to the UK Popeyes
You should try Sams fried chicken. They’re usually found in London and a few stores in the Midlands.
Looks like you enjoyed all that EIE! Both looked good pops looked a bit crispier, is the gravy any different though the chips looked better at pops! I'm sure other viewers as well are interested to know your name can't keep calling you EIE! Combo bite was great!! What a great vid again!!
The gravy at Popeyes had cajun flavouring in it so it was a bit more spicy and smokey

The KFC hot wings "never fail to disappoint"? Unintentionally accurate? They're both absurdly overpriced, but that's what's happened to all fast food as the companies merrily use 10% inflation to raise their prices by 20-30%.
Another great food journey! I’ve never been a fan of KFC, except for their coleslaw. I’ve never tried Popeyes but will now. The chicken sandwich was wildly popular when it debuted here in the USA and people waited in long lines to buy one.
Side note: biscuits are delicious when made properly and often served with honey and butter.
I wish more places did biscuits here in the UK as I really like them

it does depend on the piece of chicken they give you. you do not always get a good size piece.

However, I believe that the supposition of the KFC branding is what truly makes it unsurpassable.

Not having gravy in kfc is like wearing a grim reaper costume in a old ppls home. U just don't do it. 😅 never been to popeyes so wouldnt know about there. Haha. Glad to see it on ya platter though. Its like liquid gold.

Popeyes is definitely superior. You should try the biscuit with jam or honey.
I’ve only had popeyes once but it was fresh, hot, tasted really nice and I got so much I couldn’t even finish it all, contrasted with the last few times I’ve had kfc where the coating has admittedly been as tasty as ever but overall the chicken was just not nice with weird grey bits in (no not just the dark meat I mean the main white meat has big grey spots in it where it wouldn’t usually be) and otherwise just really fatty and greasy , and they usually forget something like last time they missed out my sweetcorn, leaving me feeling ripped off and like I shouldn’t have bothered, so it’s definitely popeyes for me, though maybe I need to go to your local kfc and try that instead!!
I think it can sometimes depend on if the chicken is fresh out of the fryer or been left out for a bit

but there was items on popeyes plate not on kfc plate. mac and cheese £3 and the biscult. £1
there did not seem an equal number of items. and some item like the gravy look larger than the kfc version.
so that may make popeyes meal look far more money
It was not really about the price on this one, I just wanted to try out as much as I could really from each place
In the States you get biscuits with your KFC

I know you ordered extras at KFC but £15! Crazy prices. I always use the KFC app to get the deals, otherwise you are getting ripped off. Popeyes looks good but my concern is Popeyes using food sourced from the US and therefore having it loaded with lots of additives, preservatives and E numbers that are banned in Europe. I saw the ingredients list on the side of the mac and cheese and it looked huge. Plus £22 for Popeyes is disgusting.

there was extra item not on the kfc meal. like biscult and mac and cheese. but there were size / portion size differences that could balance the prices off.

I love Popeyes. They have the best chicken and sides. I live in America, so we are spoiled. I could eat biscuits e every day. The fries are super, and the gravy delicious. I think you will become a regular. Thank you for the vlogs and your time😊😊😊😊

KFC used to be great, I fear before most people reading this were alive. Now... enh. The very best fried chicken I've had in a long time was from the dirt cheap local grocery store deli. But now I live in the chicken producing capital of the United States (NW Arkansas) so I can... not find good fried chicken for love or money. Sigh.
It is like living in a fishing town and there not being a single decent fish and chips shop.

I love KFC but I’ve never tried pop eyes both meals looked delicious 😋 and value for money so it’s so hard to decide on because I’ve not tried pop eyes I hope they get more restaurants in the uk 🇬🇧 and I might try it one day

had popeyes once when down at the metro centre and it was head and shoulders above kfc, which just seem to be small pieces with greasy coatings

I had not been to KFC in a very long time but visited recently. The chicken was lovely but wasn't impressed with the chips. I much preferred the ones they used to do. I know it is more common these days but I don't like skin on chips. Yes I know it adds nutritional value but I'm having chips so I'm not going to be on a healthy eating day. Never heard of Popeye's actually but if it's new to the UK then it may take some time for it to move further north.

I went to a newly opened Popeyes at a busy time and the queue was insane because you can only order by touchscreen, no paying at a till, and the touchscreens were playing up.
I really wanted to try it but I’ll wait until they have an app where you can preorder and then collect.

I really like KFC but I will give Popeyes a try. Never had biscuits but they even have the same shape as scones so can see the confusion. Mac N Cheese is a bit odd as a side.

I tried Popeyes for the first time and wasn’t impressed. I got chicken on the bone and found the batter to be very dry and hard. It was the spicy version. It was hot but didn’t have much other flavour. The chicken too was dry. KFC is far better, much better flavoured batter, more juicy. Only disadvantage with KFC is their skin on fries which I don’t like.
I wish the KFC chicken looked like this around here...the coating just falls off with the all the grease..love the KFC seasoning but the chicken itself is not good at KFC around here.
This looks so different from Australian KFC. Ours looks better, but I would like those skin on chips.

Dread to think how many calories were in all that :-) But honestly KFC looks to have really improved since I last went by the looks of that food (it was usually a greasy mess about 10 years ago).

I have had *Popeye's* when I was abroad.
It was superior to *KFC* and I am stoked to see the UK branch you tried has kept the standard.

I'm not a great fan of KFCs having had some less than nice meals in the past. I would have to be really hungry to go there, i think its a bit tired and boring now. Popeyes on the other hand, i would definitely go get that amazing crispy burger and scrumptious chips, it looked incredible.Not fussed about mac n cheese, but that one looked very appealing. popeyes wins for me hands down!

Ive never been to KFC it looks a lot better than Mcdonalds last meal i had from there was disgusting popeyes look the best though great content as usual.
a bit difficult to comment on this, i like KFC never tried Popeyes , but i think that would be too spicy for me. so i will stick with the KFC although i find it hit and miss on the crust and taste sometimes and the gravy puts me off as i saw how they make it
Theres only a tiny bit of spice to the Popeyes gravy, but with the burger and chicken you should be fine

The Popeyes was delicious
Every Popeyes where I'm located is rated at 2.5 out of 5. The problem is they just can't get their stuff together, their always out of stuff, chicken is extra greasy and they would rather but caught up in some bs drama then serve people. No hard guess on who's running these restaurants, everything's a always a mess, no work ethic or structure.
We don’t have Popeyes over here in Ireland but KFC would be my go to. Even though I have had some disappointing ones lately. Ie. Not very warm or very dry chicken. However, the price the price the price! How do you justify it?
KFC sucks here in Florida popeye's outbeat them by a mile,the best KFC I've ever had was at Niagara Falls where they cook every order fresh.

Well, Indian restaurants seem to serve most chicken dishes without skin.

Have been eating KFC since the early 1970s.Just chicken'n'fries😊grand.Popeyes the last few months offer such a wide range of tasty items.Both serve good chicken,to my taste Popeyes are a tadge to spicy. The original 11 herbs and spices meet my taste buds with a smile ☺ I felt your Popeyes looked over cooked,but take your word they were not.Again both portions of fries looked fine,but the addition of spice on Popeyes, not for me. I base my thoughts just on fried chicken and not the extras & burgers. Also salad should not go in/ on a burger.Mac&Cheese is not a side dish 😢 So final answer KFC for me❤😊
I'm with you 100%. I've only been to Popeyes once, and it's not for me; I like the contrast between the spicy coating on the chicken and the simple flavour of salted chips - the Popeyes is just too much spice with everything, and it's also significantly more expensive.
Personally, both are way too expensive and the kfc app is the worst with it crashing all the time and the branch you go in to sort it out are never interested so I stopped going there!!!

😂 kfc wings ime never do fail to disappoint, ONE time I got given a couple for free and they were actually nice and had some meat on them, wow I thought, I never realised wings could actually be good, cue me ordering them like an idiot the next 3 times I make the mistake of going there , and receiving some bones and sinew with a tasteless coating , I swear they purposely gave nice ones away free and then sold off the crap ones to the mugs like me that they managed to fool with them!!

KFC over the years has gotten smaller and smaller. The burgers couldn't get any smaller if you ask me lol, then there's the issue that there's always something missing from your order, think it must be company policy 😂 but kfc gravy oh my days it's amazing the only good thing as it saves there disgusting fries!
Popeyes looks dry and over cooked. I eat with my eyes first. Was it really worth an extra near £10 just for a scone and macaroni and cheese? What a rip off! Sorry just my opinion.

may be a pair of scales and weigh what you are getting.
since most of these items are not the same in number or size.
you really need to put items that are the same together from each place. like
kfc vs Popeyes gravy. etc. but when you look at paying £7 more it has to be better over £22 is a lot of money for 1 person to spend. that's equal to 4 meals in brewers fayre.
may be a split screen head to head price, weight / size of pot. then taste.
if you look i think the kfc cookie is the same price as the biscult. but you did not get one at kfc.
and i think if prices are correct the mac and cheese was £2.95. an item that no other place does.
this making the cost of each unbalanced. as not same for same items
