It's crazy that even a 4090 with a 12900KS get brought down to their knees by a game engine from 2015. Yes, I know it's 4K ultra+ with full RT from a new update, it's all extremely taxing, but seeing that system drop to as low as 52fps during some fights put it into perspective - our machines are NOT ready for next-gen games and UE 5.1...

Just wanted to chime in :) It's extremely taxing yes but frame generation does this game wonders. I have a 4090 with a power draw limited to 60%. This game runs anywhere from 90 to 110 fps with all other graphics options set to the highest settings @ 4k resolution. The game looks absolutely stunning😭 Unless if you plant your face against the monitor to look for oddities that frame generation causes, there's really nothing to complain about when it's turned on for games of this genre

Man! Even only watching this brought back sooo many memories of me playing this game! It truely was and truely is a masterpiece! The story was so darn captivating, it got me all hooked! Never before and never after a game caught me this deep... What an experience!

@@fortnite.burger I basically think of it the same as mp3 vs flac. If you're an audiophile fanatic its amazing but most people probably won't notice much difference.
@@NonsensicalReality That's not really a fair comparison. MP3 vs FLAC is about the detail in the audio, but the volume of the different sounds is the same. True HDR however makes the bright areas (like the sun and torches) incredibly bright which leads to the feeling of actually being blinded by a strong light, and it's impossible to not notice it if you see it on a true HDR screen like a modern OLED.
On the note of audio btw, being slightly audiophile myself I think the difference between FLAC and MP3 is overrated, it's much more important with good mastering and mixing.
@@fotografalexandernikolis Yeah, mp3 vs flac is more like 1080p vs 4k really but I have to disagree on the flac being overrated. If you're an audiophile you can definitely notice a substantial difference however, if the production is already low quality it can be a lot harder to notice the difference. I've always been highly sensitive which can be difficult in life but when it comes to music I can feel a big difference in subtle things like flac vs mp3.
Toussaint on ultra+ looks so beautiful. Wish i could play it with ray tracing but they really didn't think about midrange cards.

i think there is a bug withupscalers i try rt without dlss at 1080p i was getting 30 fps at a 3060 i put dlss performance and it didnt change the numbers it stays at 30 fps only diference was it looked sharper that taau

The new camera angle is a game changer. The default one looks so bad and was one of the main reasons why i couldn't get into this game, it was so unsettling. But this one looks amazing, tried it on my ps5 and i got hooked immediately. What an amazing game, all this time i thought it was super overrated...boy was i wrong.
Same here, the old camera angle made it look more dated than it should have. The new angle does a lot to make it feel more modern. I hadn’t played this one yet either and had been waiting for the next gen upgrade to jump in since it was announced, even though it did play at 4K 60 on XBox prior to the upgrade. Glad I waited. Game is jaw droppingly beautiful and in RT mode it makes a significant difference. I had wanted to play this on PS5 and own it on both consoles but XBox just runs it smoother in RT mode. Not a console war post though as usually I prefer Playstation and the game does run better in Performance Mode on PS5 so both consoles have their advantages. Basically been no lifing this game since the upgrade though and it is crazy to me that this game is almost 10 years old. Game really holds up and lived up to the hype people speak of it with. If someone had told me this was a new release I would have believed it.

Would recommend turning your brightness down a tad or raising contrast seems very washed out.
Can notice the difference on the textures, TH-cam's shitty compression tho makes it harder to notice other things.
They are legit WAY better now.

Are you using reshade or just the two hdr sliders? Mine doesn't look this good, it's kind of on the dark side, it's a common problem with hdr games for me
@@SpudhutCXrep Yes, I did get the game looking good with reshade but the default HDR is pretty bad, for me anyway
The main problem and only problem I have with this game is the combat our moves are too repetitive the jump swoosh first move and the big circle follow up is done over and over and over I do hope they make combat more of a combo input offense and parry defense I'm cool with the diving and lunging out of the waythey already have.. but if this combat was more focused on this game it would too me be one of the top 5 games ever made!

it's all in gamma setting i think, mine was too dark as well. i push them + to 1.08 or 1.1

yes you do, CD Projekt RED have said the HDR in-game options will be added in a future patch

I have an Xbox series X and a lot of games run 4k hdr, 60fps. I only have a fairly nice HD Tv. I don’t mind playing in 1080p60 but what I do feel like I’m missing out on are those beautiful HDR effects. Makes games look so crips.
if you dont have an hdr monitor you cant see the hdr effects in this video anyway. so i dont know what youre seeing but its not hdr

The only way to play this Nex-Gen without dropping FPS is to keep the machine in the fridge. 😅😅😅😅

Have they ever fixed performance of the DX12 for this ? I remember even at same settings dx11 and dx12 would have huge performance difference for no apparent reason ,and since you cant use RT without DX12 you were stuck with using the broken DX12 version ?
DX12 performance is still worse its not horrible this game runs well for how good it looks.

msi osd doesnt work here at dx12. im running at 4k ultra+ max out execpt for RT im getting 130 up to max 144hz but when i use RT "all on" the fps drop tremendously aroung 60 to 70hz still playable but i prefer high fps smooth camera movement.

Its not in the options, just enable HDR on your PC and then launch the game

how do I active hdr on the pc version?
From what I've heard it's auto hdr like how a lot of games do hdr on pc. If you have an hdr screen it should switch to it automatically. I'm just downloading the update as I write this though so can't be certain.

Hopefully they will patch it to improve performance and stability, the fact that you need the latest gen graphics cards to get a reasonable experience is not acceptable, not when the improvements are arguably minor, it's the kind of improvement people who think RT is bullshit latches on to, personally i think they needed to do more with the materials than just upscale it for it to really shine.

I wish I played this game back in the day because even if it is on sale right now I can't bring myself to get it because of the outdated graphics. I'm pretty sure I'm missing out big time though.
Even without the update, its graphics are better than half of the current-gen games out there. With the update its better than 95% of them. Thats what happens when you have timeless art direction and a development team with a mind towards future-proofing.
