As a player I think Brian's technically brilliant; he also has a natural gift for teaching, and he keep's knocking out storming compositions like this.
I took your advice and learned this song on my electric with plenty of reverb, delay, and tremolo--sounds GREAT! I could almost hear Jon Foggerty "Running Through the Jungle" to join me.
Thoroughly enjoy these lessons. You’re like the friend everyone needs who is better than them. A lot better, and still will jam and noodle with them. The only way I learn anything. Thank you.
I love listening to you play on each lesson...I don't always "keep" the lesson in my queue, but even when the music isn't up my alley, I enjoy your playing it through at the beginning. Really glad that's become a trademark. This one is a keeper!
Great lesson Brian. Do you know they had this article about the ten top you tube guitar lesson teachers and you weren't the first or on there at all, I was hurt. They had some guys that I'd rather not say but your the best and we all know that.
Brian, I have been following your channel for about a year and learned about 10 of your pieces. This is my first comment on TH-cam since forever, but man am I impressed at how you come up with and teach these little pieces. I have been playing for about 20 years and always found it's very difficukt to find good and easy to play stand-alone stuff for guitar, well the search is over! It's like you distill the essence of the styles and genres into these compositions, it takes a lot to be able to do that. This is not the stuff that would necessarily impress your guitar-nerd friends (although we all know that you could play waaay fancier stuff), it's the stuff that just sounds absolutely fantastic on guitar and can be enjoyed by anybody. When I play one of your pieces to my 5 month-old daugther, she smiles and giggles, then when I attempt an insanely difficult piece à la Joe Pass or Jonathan Kreisberg, she's just like "wtf you're doin there dad?". Says it all doesn't it? Thank you so much!
Wow really love this one Brian and tons of time on my hands to get this one right. Thanks for keeping us busy, wishing you, your family and your dog( who is also family🐶) good health and safety during these crazy times!👍🎸🇨🇦
Aside from all your lessons being great (and they are thank you so much) your sound is always superb with all your great guitars. I find tone to be inspiring sometimes and all your lessons have tones that spark stuff for me. Thanks again
Love this lesson!! I've known drop D for a while, but this has broadened my knowledge and given me ideas of what I love doing: mixing rhythm with lead. Thanks
Thank you so much!!! Your explanation and breakdown of exactly what you are doing is incredible. How you don’t have more subscribers is beyond me as I believe many would benefit from you. I am spreading the world brotha. Thank you!
Great lessons ... love 'Drop D' and 'DADGAD' tunings on an acoustic ... it brings out the best of rich, deep, dark tones. I'm a Premium Member and enjoy your teaching style and ideas!
I can believe I am actually sounding like the video. How fun is this. I can’t wait till my fingers don’t hurt anymore as I but my guitar down 10 years ago. But this is huge progress. Thank you 🙏
Preaching to the choir, sounds great. Love blues based anything. You nailed it, it sounds good on acoustic, it sounds good on electric! That’s when you know it’s good. Good lesson, and beautiful guitar! Love open string stuff as well, people over look that aspect.
Oh yeah, awesome! I LOVE that drop-D tuning sound, it's got that cool swampy vibe :) And this composition will complement well the other lessons you have in this style on Active Melody. Thank you, Brian!
Holy shit Brother.. I know this stuff and I knew something was off.. found this.. wow.. you rock. Im trying to go back to standard E for "raise you up on eagles wings".. needless to say you probably gather it's SUPER important I don't screw up. Thank you for erasing the need for tuning apps. You are awesome. Hug to you!!!
Would you believe I started lesson 226 of yours today. I have just got back into playing guitar after doing myself a serious hand injury. Fingerpicking is a still a little bit tricky for me ATM, and I was hoping you would have a Drop D lesson with more if a strumming technique. Fast forward to this evening and this one popped up. Its almost like you are spying on me 😂 Thank you so much for your upload, you have really inspired me to start playing again. Stay safe in these crazy times, Much thanks from Australia.
HEY, BRIAN HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF MORE ADVANCED LESSONS FOR SOME OF US? THIS WAY WE CAN BYPASS A LOT OF THIS EASIER STUFF TO GET TO MORE OF THE "MEAT" OF LESSONS. GREAT JOB NO MATTER WHAT. THANKS
Eres el amo del blues we... Todo lo q se de blues lo aprendi de ti.... Le añadi el soul... Me gustaria q agas un cover de SOMTHIG OLIVE DE JHON MAYER lo arias genial
I've never played around much with Drop D, but this has me going straight to the guitar and try. The Martin was a great choice too... sounds amazing that one. But then, what Martin doesn't?

Wow, this is fantastic! We need more of dropped D lessons!
Agree!!!!
Drop C is incredible as well
I took your advice and learned this song on my electric with plenty of reverb, delay, and tremolo--sounds GREAT! I could almost hear Jon Foggerty "Running Through the Jungle" to join me.
Been an Active Melody member for a year now. I love finding great Easter egg lessons like this one. Thanks
Thoroughly enjoy these lessons. You’re like the friend everyone needs who is better than them. A lot better, and still will jam and noodle with them. The only way I learn anything. Thank you.
I love these slow bluesy tunes, especially when they aren't too difficult. Keep them up!
I love listening to you play on each lesson...I don't always "keep" the lesson in my queue, but even when the music isn't up my alley, I enjoy your playing it through at the beginning. Really glad that's become a trademark. This one is a keeper!
I love this Brian… you are an excellent teacher by the way.
Great lesson Brian. Do you know they had this article about the ten top you tube guitar lesson teachers and you weren't the first or on there at all, I was hurt. They had some guys that I'd rather not say but your the best and we all know that.
Douglas Christine he is by far the best teacher on TH-cam bar none, and i have watched pretty much all of them, no contest .
JohnnyB15 I totally agree.
Douglas Christine

Never a bad boring lesson Brian.

I've never played around much with Drop D, but this has me going straight to the guitar and try. The Martin was a great choice too... sounds amazing that one. But then, what Martin doesn't?
Brian - I bet this whole song would sound great using a slide. Any chance you could work that out and teach it? Thanks
Brilliant! What brand and gauge of strings are you using!
Tx. Bro
