I did that drive from LA to Nova Scotia three years ago. I had the 6-speed Crosstrek, and some hills I was being passed by trucks. When I finally handed in the trailer and drove away, it felt like I was in a race-car :)
Thank you Jesse, very well done video. We love our Crosstrek knowing it’s a very capable vehicle but at the same time we don’t want to push it to much. Your experience was a good test. Thanks from all of us. Cheers. For those of you who are wondering, from the UHaul website 6x12 trailer: empty weight: 1920 lbs, max load: 2480 lbs, gross vehicle weight 4400lbs.
Rpms up high on those inclines! Reminds me of that enclosed 8x22 v nose trailer i pulled with a silverado 12000lbs loaded. 5k rpms to hold 70mph on those hills lol.
Good video. I'm towing from Dallas to Utah. If your Crosstrek can do it then my Wrangler definitely can. Plus I will be towing a 5x8 instead of the 6x12.
$1000 to rent a trailer? Wtf, it's $30 for one way trip and 3 days where I'm at. $60 if I really want to splurge on the insurance. Did that include packing materials and loaders/unloaders?
Hello, how many pounds was in total counting with the trailer weight? I have a crosstrek 2024 sport, i am assuming that they both has the same motor to the wilderness
They do have the same motor. But the sport has a lower towing weight than the wilderness (1500 vs 3500). This is due to the wilderness having its own cooler on the transmission.
Did you also load the back seats and/or cargo area of CTW? If so, a lot? Also, aside from the uphill struggle, what was the RPM hovering around on average? Thinking of ordering one this month and your video is the only one I've seen that travelled really far, so it was a great test, I appreciate the video. Cheers!
Finally someone posted a real towing video with the wilderness and not a paid advertisement… 282 f is really high but it made it
Yea, a bit overloaded. It won't normally be that high.

I'm about to drive from Oregon to Georgia in my Wrangler, pulling a UHaul trailer..... This should be fun

What was the total weight of the trailer and contents?
I love my CTW but will it be sufficient to pull a 2k camper trailer?🤔

Thanks for the video.
What navigation app did you use????

@@nikolavonfulton5195 Also Wilderness has higher gear ratio.
Wonder how many years that took off the life of the CVT transmission?
If it’s rated to tow 3500 then why wouldn’t the CVT be made to do it?
Should go back to Cali

Never got a reply. Not sure you received notification.
What was the avg speed drove during your trip?
Can I tow my new corvette c8 3500 lbs with my new wilderness? Is it too risky?
Yeah i wouldn’t recommend that because you still have the equipment and stuff which adds to the weight
That subaru is squatting pretty badly for being within tow limit. What was your tongue weight?
Soft suspension made for snow
@@garrettpatterson9490also using a drop hitch. Probably would’ve been better to have a rise hitch to make trailer even on the axels
How much weight did you load in the trailer?
Too much. Don't go over 3500lbs max total, including trailer.
Look like a lot of tongue weight
How often did you have to reverse?
Just to unload
@@jesse19skelton Any struggles in reverse? Even if travel distance was vert short, I'm curious how the engine handled it.
@@Veeetz no complaints
