I think that the video/audio quality in this upload is super crisp. Don't change a thing.
And in an era of financial flim flam artists, hedge fund frauds and general scumbaggery, this is the antidote. A craftsman creating REAl value with hands and mind and above all, heart. Beautiful work Steve.
Thank you sir...I do enjoy ur videos. Too often most ppl today want it quick and cheap. I may have told you that when I was a fourth grader, I would stop by my local cobbler and he would allow me to watch some of the repairs. I remember the smells of leather and glue and tap tap tap of hammers. There was a calendar of a slightly clad busty blonde on the, (what were once white walls), and my favorite drink machine in the corner with 10 cent cokes....in glass bottles! One day as I sat on a tall stool next to his work station he said “Little Mike, there are a few things I. This life that will last you a life time....if you take care of them...1 is a car, 2 is your house and 3 but not finally, a good pair of well made shoes. He said “see these” he pointed to his shoes, are 25 years old. He called them “Wing tips”... he told me how he replaced the soles, the laces, how to polish, and what polish to use. I will never forget that nice man...but today, u ask millennials what a cobbler is, and they will respond, “u mean peach cobbler?” What a world we live. Take care sir and may you be healthy.
Thank you Steve for another great experience. To all here in the comments I bid you good night and a Happy New Year!
What would life be without Hammertime! I ask you! The time and explanation are much appreciated. Video was extra clear, not too bright. (told you you'd get it figured out; smart man!) Thank you for uploading and making my day!
What is captivating is to see a true craftsman at work! Steve, you really do an incredible job, and you make it fun to watch (e.g. hammer time, “let’s continue,”). Till the next video take care...
Switching welt ,nice Steve 👍🏻thx for the vlog and your time ❤️❤️👍🏻🎄see you next time....
You are the best. I have learned how to be self reliant from your tutorials. I am a Senior Citizen 🧓 and appreciate your knowledge.
The longer the video, the better. Thanks Steve!
I liked the still shots of the boot after you sewed the welt. Nice job overall. Thanks for sharing.
Love the addition of the 360 welt, it really does balance the boots nicely! 👍👌❤
What a beautiful job on those boots ! They are better than new....worth every penny. You have doubled the life of those boots. I venture to say this is one of your top videos!
If there is a better way to spend a Saturday evening, than watching you stitch a welt, I haven't found it. All those people going to the theatre, casino, or nightclub, are missing out, big time. Thanks for posting Steve have a great Hogmany!
His videos are so relaxing
For the hell of it, I watched a few different TH-cam shoe repair creators’ vids. I’m glad I stumbled across your channel first, because I actually learn something while you work and your artistic personality is a plus. I think that’s the difference with your vids and theirs. Plus, you’re not afraid to show mistakes, shortcomings, and the fix for it (or redo).
Plus you’re not afraid to look silly with your humor. You’ll be the only shoe repair channel I watch from now on. Thanks for being unabashedly you. ❤️
I don't have any interest in footwear, really. I just like to watch a master. This guy's confidence is inspiring. I work on guitars in Vancouver BC PS I have the same shakes when I'm under pressure, and I'm at my best under pressure
I asked about switching welt types and now it happened!!!!!! Yesssss!!!!
“Alright....let’s continue” 😊😁
hi steve, you did a extremely nice job again. im very impressed with your craftsmanship. i agree you do go the extra mile to do the beautiful job you do. cant wait for the next. i learn so much from your videos.
This vid shows the pragmatic side of being in a service industry and self employed. And a highly desirable level of experience and skill set which gives the customer a fantastic "win" of getting what he asked for. So happy this job came to you Steve and thanks for sharing again.
Fantastic video, Steve! I didn't think I was going to like that vibram soul on that Indy boot. But after seeing your welt work and the stitching, it all just came together. Beautiful work!
I bought my first Alden Indy boots last week, much because of your videoes. Looking forward to break them in
I love watching craftsman at work , great job
Finally got my first pair of Indi Boots. I like your upgrades to the welt and contrast stitching.
Great job!!
1) Never saw someone sharpen a utility knife blade, that was awesome!
2) I’ve done some leather work and I can say you sure earn every single cent stitching that welt on!
Excellent work!
Steve,,, I have noticed that, you always go the extra mile for the customer .... More people should take pride in their work like you do!!
Yet another instance of master craftsmanship. The background music volume is good and a nice selection. Thanks for the informative entertainment, Steve!
Wow. What a wonderful idea. I’ll send you my Indy’s when I need a resole for the same thing. Really beautiful job. Steve K.
Another awesome video from Steve. These welts are gonna age beautifully
Wonderfully done! I actually like the whole "wrap thing" going on. Looks very rugged and stylish! I'm sure the owner of this pair of remarkable sweet footwear will be in so much comfort and wear them proudly for many years to come! ... *LET'S CONTINUE!*
Excellent video, crystal clear image and your explanation of the job on hand is outstanding, thank you for sharing
His camera quality has definitely improved. New phone? Lol ;)
Womble ofWimbledon
No it’s the same phone, I’m learning to do it better
Another really superb job. This level of quality is hard to come by...keep up the good work.
I wanted to see what all was involved in reviving an old pair of boots and you did an excellent job at explaining all the processes. Awesome craftsmanship thanks.
With all the work you have, you still have time to do a video for us. YOU ARE AMAZING!!
Hope you had a Merry Christmas, and you have a Very Happy New Year.
Keep 🔨🔨🔨away!!
Dang they came out awesome! They look better than when they were new! Sweet!
Best 39 minutes and 50 seconds of my day!!! I really enjoyed the seeing a 270360 conversion, and I think the really nice looking boots look even better.
I really liked the process of putting canvas on the entire bottom of the shoe, well done
Another AMAZING job Steve.... WOW... The detail, the intricate work, it's unreal... Love it...! You have an amazing talent...! Greg
You are awesome man, I love Indies much more after getting repaired by you, they're more beautiful than their factory made style, excellent job dude, good luck man.
Another great result. By the way the videography including close up shots was excellent, don't change a thing.
Hey Steve ,I been watching a few of your Video's ,and I have to say Buddy your amazing ,and I hope people remember the old saying you pay good money for great Work ,again Good Job love your style and the way you Joke around while you Work ,thank you from Oakville Canada .
Love the boot as you first showed it. But I can tell ya. I so love the boot after the welt? wheat? change. AWSOME
8:25 (lower left corner) Wifey’s neglected heel, upturned, forgotten and alone. lol 😂.
Love ya Steve, thanks for the great videos!
I prefer the first half audio.
Dear Steve,
Happy new year!
And,... thank you again for the video`s.
J aime beaucoup vos vidéos je les regarde toutes vous faites un travail formidable
This was an incredible transformation as usual. I would love to wear those boots myself, in fact I have a pair very similar. I will never complain about my shoes again. That would be a lot of complaining. "You're a good man Charlie Brown".
I’m polishing my Alden 403s as I’m watching this video. What a meta-moment.
Great work as always Steve! +1 on the space age music, a little weird but not terrible. The boots look amazing! Of course the double hammer time always forgives a sin or two. 😂😂
Beach boys. Thanks for showing the stitching in real time. Great project, Happy New Year!
That must be nice for your customers to be able to watch these videos if they have any questions about what or how you did their jobs, especially for the parts that are hidden in the final assembly.
Nice use of the sharpening stone. Thanks for sharing the technique.
Probably my favorite indy boot video!! Nice work man!!
Steve one thing for sure is that those turned out awsome. You did a fantastic job on them and the before and after shots are incredible, huge difference. Merry Christmas and wishing you and your family a Happy New Year.
HI, STEVE!!! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! Glad to see you! 🎩👞
Awesome work as usual! Personally, I don’t like that vibram sole but as you said, you gave the customer what he wanted!
Sound so far is 100% better no fading away
Very nice Steve they look great as all your work always looks great.
Wow, much better than before. Excellent !!!
Great video and repair Steve! I love the fact that you never take shortcuts just because the customer would never know! I hope you and the family had a very Merry Christmas and that you have a wonderful 2020!
Vv vvvvvvvvvv vv vv vvv vvvvv
I had some custom lizard skin cowboy boots made here in El Paso, TX with a 1/2" vibram soles similar to the ones that Steve used in the video and let me tell you that sole is tough. With the proper glue, that sole won't come off unless you use a knife and forcefully remove it.
Absolutely beautiful job. Merry Christmas to Zeus! Great job with the leather.
Hi Steve, Great film. It was the Carpenters. Unfortunately it certainly wasn't before my time 🙂. All the best for the New year. T
Finally was able to see the back side of the hammer being used.
Nice job, that really transformed the look of those boots. I think they would also look good with Dainite soles.
I love the 360 split-welt, makes the boot look more rugged
Love the close-ups Steve!
Steve thanks for sharing your work, this was a great watch awesome project.
Love that boot. Gonna have to get a pair. I want those soles as well, before i even wear them.. thanks for posting!
This is some of your most savage work to date! 👊
Awesome work, Steve!
BTW, I think the video quality is fine with the iPhone camera and sound. No external mic required. It all depends on the production quality you want though.
Excellent high quality craftsmanship.
Just love your work. Beautiful boot.
I love some Indy Boots! Have 4 different pairs and they are all great
Ashland Leather Co. - I have two and agree!
I always was kind of bothered by Aldens choice of making these in 270 welts. 360 is much more appropriate for a boot like this, in my opinion and apparently, Steves and many other people judging by the comments as well. I can’t figure out why the customers pay for such an expensive boot and don’t complain about not getting a 360 welt.
The background music reminds me of a 90's video game, I had the feeling I was playing Donkey Kong in the Super NES while watching your video :D
Nice job Steve👍
Really well-done upgrade. I have always wanted Alden Indies but haven't pulled the trigger. One of these days..
Dmac K you won’t regret it
Dmac K
Same here. I need to get new loafers, but I’m struggling between saving up for a service boot or some Alden Indys 403/405.
Nice Beach Boys reference there Steve ....
Great Video, Great Job! Background sounds like a grandfather clock ticking....that, you might leave out. Other than that....Fantastic as always! Happy 2020 !!
Hope you had a good Christmas 🎄The boots 🥾 look nice 👍
Just what I needed to relax!
The music seems to me to take away from the ‘personal ‘ or ‘one on one’ style of you’re usual videos. Give me the compressor, the door chime and the hammer any time!
C&D General Services - I fully agree!
You're amazing, thanks for sharing your craft.
Another great vid, thanks and Happy New Year. One thought, you have created close to an Allen Edmonds Higgins Mill boot!
Great channel! I learn a lot I can use in other work. I Wonder why you use a lock type stitch? In saddle work I use a saddle stitch, 2 needles from opposing directions. If it cuts or breaks it will stay, whereas a lock stitch can “run” and have several stitches come undone.
James Milos it’s just another way of doing things that all.
hope your New Year brings you happiness and joy ,, love to see your skill and persistence
P.S. I agree with Mr. Saunders, it's a pleasure watching a master.
On a TH-cam video is a boot manufacturer (Nick’s Boots?) that put the welting needle point in a clump if wax before each stretch.
My wife dropped off some Mark Nason light brown leather loafer style shoes back in October. It would be cool to see it's restoration on your channel! If not no biggie. 😊

Really excellent job of explaining the construction and process. Now I know enough to be dangerous.
I have a pair of suede shoes with a 360 storm welt wall which I actually like so was intrigued to see how its done. 👞
Great video Steve - Health, Wealth and a happy new year- looking forward to the impossible project!🔨😆
Aesthetically a bit odd, but obviously nice and bouncy and comfy. I don't blame the guy. He wears them all day.
Great video Steve and ths tunes were awesome 💚
It is very interesting to see the changes. I loved my Indy boots even more when I got cat’s paw put on them. This might be my next move, put rubber vibrant sole on.
They’re lovely! Maybe when my vintage DMs die ...
Hi Steve, the lights are really strong on the shoe. I understand you need them to work without hurting ur eyes. But maybe someone can have tips in the comments on how to fix that?
that turned out AWESOME !!!!!!!
Great vid, as usual. Have you tried a slightly higher camera position to see if that can help the really bright reflection of your shop lighting from the shoes? I'm wondering if the camera "looks downward" a bit, if it might not get a better automatic exposure. Just a thought.
Thanks Steve. Great video.
I must say Steve, those shoes look really nice.
I'm going to try your welt waterproofing idea with veg tanned liners that always seem to attract smudges while assembling/stitching gun belts. Any other ideas to keep belt liners pristine would be appreciated.
These are called "Micky Mouse Boots" over here in Spain El Stevo!....( Something to do with Welt Disney apparently!) Have a a happy/healthy new year my friend! x
