I've been taking seroquel for 12 years as a sleep aid, idk why my Dr gave me that for sleep but now I've been on it for so long I can't get off. If I miss a dose I get violently ill. But I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would abuse it. I've never got any kind of feeling off of it other than it makes me hungry a few hours after taking it.
@Kriti2024 I'm on 300mg and for the first part of the day yes I'm extremely drowsy. Waking up in the mornings is the most difficult part of my day, it takes an hour or two to get the cob webs out. Typically I'll drink a couple cups of coffee, lately I've been taking L-Tyrosine supplements in the morning and that has helped a lot with the brain fog
@abdallahtoba7568 It does cure insomnia I guess, but there are better medications out there for that. I have to drink a couple cups of coffee every morning to shake it off. I also have to go to bed early enough to plan for 9-10 hours of sleep. 8 hours or less and it's almost impossible to wake up. This is a horrible medication
I am also a seroquel user since 2010. I try to keep my dose as low as possible because it doesn't feel good. So i also don't understand why someone would take that just for fun. It doesn't make you high, it doesn't feel addictive and the higher the dose the more side effects you get like a weird feeling in your legs. It doesn't have any recreational properties at all. I also know a lot of other patients who took it in the past and most of them can't stand the effects of it. Most patients hate that stuff, only patients like me who experience a possitive effect on their symptoms are willing to take it.
Same with being prescribed it and not understanding how people enjoy it. It has a sedative effect, but not a nice one like benzos. More of a very lethargic, no-energy-to-do-anything way.
Do you realize that even at low doses, your chances of having a heart attack are like over 80%! This is bad stuff. You should really rethink staying on this. Very dangerous drug and it causes fatty liver disease as well.

Hey, I’m on Quetiapine for third month now, and I started Escitalopram for second month (major depressive episode + social phobia), I want to change Quetiapine for some other mood stabilizer which could as well help with my insomnia, because Quetiapine made my blood glucose, and prolactin way too high. I want as well avoid benzos, they’re addicting (I had addiction problems in the past). Is there a mood stabilizer which helps with insomnia without cons which I’ve named.
Abilify has good reviews. I’ve also heard of birth control being used as a mood stabilizer in combination with other meds. I’m kind of surprised your doctor would recommend an antipsychotic for a depressive episode if it’s your first time presenting with such symptoms. Mood stabilizers are often used for treatment resistant depression but normally doctors would start off with SSRIs. If you don’t have bipolar or schizophrenia SNRIs have been effective for some people as well.
@@cas.333I am sorry I didn't mentioned that quetiapine was prescribed me for sleep. I've changed my doctor (because he also prescribed me Opipramol, which totally blocked my dopaminergic receptors and I didn't want to do anything) and new doctor prescribed me Trozodone for sleep, it's better.
Yes.. but this is not doctors advice... CBD:CBN extract from Hoku seed co.. ,( fully legal).. mix a very inexpensive amount in some sleep tea... trust me you will thank me and trying this will be less than $40
Trileptal has worked for me for over 20 years, and I have not experienced any sides. Quetiapine has put 40 lbs on me (when I was first started taking it, I barely ate), put my blood sugar up to the point of needing insulin, and did nothing for any aspect of my Bipolar 1 disorder. I wish you luck.
I have recently started Seroquel on a low dose and The only thing that's done to me is really just make these constant racing thoughts and intrusive thoughts kind of go away. But you know I even read that people use things like my gabapentin on the streets too and no matter how much of it taken I get no effects so I would only bother with that one as prescribed too same thing with my lorazepam doesn't really sedate me that much but it does help if I take it only when I have a panic attack.
Gabapentin was put on the controlled substance list because it was found at the scenes of DEA drug busts being used as "cut" (added to street drugs to make product volume more=more $). That is what my local Kroger pharmacist told me. I take gabapentin for my autoimmune disease pain and it works wonders! But there is zero buzz to be had. Zero none.
I've never abused seroquill, only took it as prescribed, I had no idea it could even be abused. But after seeing the symptoms I'm mad. I've been complaining of symptoms of akathisia for years now, I had no idea that that was a possibility. What in the actual fuck.
I’ve never had any side effects from Seroquel and it’s the only drug that has ever helped my mixed- episode symptoms. It just makes me a little sleepy. It probably affects each person differently.
I've found this video because my psychiatrist is starting me on one 25mg tablet of seroquel today for insomnia and two tablets if needed. I just hope I can get some sleep. The drug does seem a little scary.
I think there being an illicit market for serequel makes a lot of sense. When people are using drugs for prolonged periods of time they will start to experience the effects of their drug use. Like sleep deprevation, psychosis, hallucinations and anxiety. Aren't those all of the things serequel is supposed to treat? If someone isn't willing to stop doing drugs or seek help it makes sense they attempt to self medicate.
yeah it’s not addictive put him on it if nothing else is working, use antipsychs last. but yes it saves lives it’s not addictive but it’s so heavily dependable if you wanted to get off of it but just remember this you wouldn’t take seroquel to get high its a glorified sleeping pill if abused your just not gonna stay awake it’s just about fighting sleep and feeling really “sleepy” (ppl call it euphoric but i guarantee it’s not)
make sure the psychiatrist he talks to also cares abt him i’m through the nationwide childrens program it works so amazingly bc of how intense it is and how often you see your therapist and psychiatrist who work together if you have a nationwide childrens look into getting care there
I started lactating and lost my period and was incredibly itchy. It turned out that the tiny dose I took for sleep gave me a pituitary gland tumour that gave me menopause at 30, the endocrinologist said I had the hormones of an 80 year old. I had to take Dostinex to shrink the tumour and spent every weekend in bed throwing up from it. The first time I took seroquel I fainted in the shower, I was 22 and I phoned the doctor saying I don’t want to take this stuff. She told me I had to so I did what she said. She also put me on Effexor 150 and that eventually gave me seizures. Then Lexapro and that gave me seizures too. I now take a tiny dose of CBD and feel great and I sleep
Your vedio is 100 % true , i abused seroquel for 3 years with other addictive substanse , until i get dystonia and akhatesia and very bad skin issues , its very dangerous to get into seroquel abuse , i have all the pics and proof , what this abuse did to me , and iam ready to help , its fatal and very dangerous , i had to stop it abruptly since 3 years , and iam still in very hard withdrawl symptoms , you are a great dr , all respect💕
Sounds like you have to be desperate to take this, reading the comments i can see it can cause akathisia which is horrible! I can sort of get trying it to relieve withdrawal symptoms but it's as if it can make them worse?
Can you translate this please: In conclusion, these data demonstrate that short-term treatment with quetiapine altered the way that healthy adult males used explicit signals about large and small gains, and large and small losses, to increase the choice of gambles with negative expected values. Our findings suggest that blockade of 5-HT2A and, to a lesser extent, D2 receptors by atypical antipsychotic drugs may alter the use of explicit reinforcement cues during risky decision-making.
I used to stay awake for 2-3 days at a stretch. I started taking Qutan 50mg initially and gradually increased to 300mg(sometimes 500 to 600mg)every night before bed. It’s been 2 weeks since I started consuming 300mg. I always feel something is off in my daily activities. But sleeping peacefully is something very important for me at present. Being awake without a minute sleep for 2-3 days makes me go mad during daytime work hours. My psychiatrist is not ready to give me a proper sleeping medicine. Hence I ended up having Quetiapine!!!
I hated how & what Seroquel did to me. I stopped taking it because I didn't like being a slobbering, sleepy, mindless zombie all day long! Counseling has been far, far more beneficial for me than Seroquel ever was!! 😊
I have a supply of seroquil. Was using it for sleep help nightly until I found out what it does to blood sugar now one week out of the month I'll stop my normal sleep med and use it with Doxipen as a tolerance cycle. Never found it addictive even when I was taking 50mg nightly. Every drug can be abused so I'm not that shocked about this.
Quetiapine is fine. I can’t even see what it would do to you, XR is so chill. The immediate one can be a bit of a rush if you take it with food, but this is easily the mildest AP I’ve taken re side effects.
I was Seroquel when my mental problems were at there worse I was on for about 2 years or so,I eventully got of this drug it took me 9 months to get off it only by meditating I could get of this drug after that i went through 2 years of withdrawl a very sedatting drug.
Yes I had problems doing anything while I was taking this tablet and still am I could barely stand up but I was in such a state I would of risked anything
I get the pharmacist to split 25 mg tabs in half... Its great for sleeping if you are insomniac.... And have tinnitus .. I can see how larger doses could be addictive as it is quite strong.... A decent night's sleep cannot be over rated... But it makes it harder to breath... Anyone who died of a serequel overdose. Didn't feel any pain...
I have been trying to find out what exactly causes the person to die? I mean it has a black box warning for the elderly. They still keep giving it to the elderly!
How slowly should a person diagnosed with dementia be weaned off a 25mg dose that the doctor prescribed. She had been on it for just under 1 month, it's been decreased to a 12mg dose....doctor prescribed it unannounced to her Power of Attorney's.
According to my knowledge these meds are highly potent and often used by people globally but in many cases they have a terrible issues to handle by some people therefore they may be effective to some people but not to others. It's just a way they are I mean the meds. No one has control over how they can either make things worse or better. Unfortunately I was in those unlucky people. I willingly by using tapering method. Today I m free from that. But ti's does not imply that the medicine is causing difficulties. It is possible but it is not ultimate that its not a good medicine. If anyone has problems after taking it then u must ask the doctor who is responsible for the treatment for your case. Now stating that I will go further to help by saying that you and the doctor should together plan your next step which will help you drastically it's trial and error atleast for me. Thank you
Thank you for sharing your experience. Yes, often times with drug interactions and sensitivities it is trial and error.
@@cas.333those are garbage
Yes.. but this is not doctors advice...
I'm peeing myself sometimes while taking this prescribed duo of siroquuel and depakote. I've gotta find a different medication.
Same
I have recently started Seroquel on a low dose and The only thing that's done to me is really just make these constant racing thoughts and intrusive thoughts kind of go away.
Zero none.
My experience with Seroquel now tapering down to 500mg against my doctor's advice: I'd rather be delusional and happy than lucid and miserable.
Don’t blame you!
Agree with you!
I've never abused seroquill, only took it as prescribed, I had no idea it could even be abused. But after seeing the symptoms I'm mad. I've been complaining of symptoms of akathisia for years now, I had no idea that that was a possibility. What in the actual fuck.
Seroquel makes my mind calm and I can think clearly from it.
so is there still a risk of people getting tardive dyskinesia and akathisia at the low doses or only if they're abusing it with high doses?
Risk of TD is greater with higher doses taken over long periods of time. Akathisia can be seen at any dose and even first dose.
This is the first I have heard of people trying to get high on Seroquel. It doesn't make sense. Seroquel doesn't get you high.
Wow I am glad I watched this. A family member was saying my teen son should start taking this, it works so great etc.🙁🙁🙁
yeah it’s not addictive put him on it if nothing else is working, use antipsychs last. but yes it saves lives it’s not addictive but it’s so heavily dependable if you wanted to get off of it but just remember this you wouldn’t take seroquel to get high its a glorified sleeping pill if abused your just not gonna stay awake it’s just about fighting sleep and feeling really “sleepy” (ppl call it euphoric but i guarantee it’s not)
make sure the psychiatrist he talks to also cares abt him i’m through the nationwide childrens program it works so amazingly bc of how intense it is and how often you see your therapist and psychiatrist who work together if you have a nationwide childrens look into getting care there
I started lactating and lost my period and was incredibly itchy.
I now take a tiny dose of CBD and feel great and I sleep
look into a new antidepressant called (Auvelity) It's like ketamine and works wonders.
I gave it to my dying mother per hospice and it was sooo awful for her I wept. She said “don’t ever give me that again, that was horrible!”
Excellent video
Please make video on pregabalin
Great recommendation! 👍
Why would people want to abuse this
I was prescribed this and i totally hated it
Can you translate this please:
In conclusion, these data demonstrate that short-term treatment with quetiapine altered the way that healthy adult males used explicit signals about large and small gains, and large and small losses, to increase the choice of gambles with negative expected values. Our findings suggest that blockade of 5-HT2A and, to a lesser extent, D2 receptors by atypical antipsychotic drugs may alter the use of explicit reinforcement cues during risky decision-making.
Does anyone know exactly what’s in it ?
My doctor ran me through the database before prescribing this anyway
Take it at night duh!
@@BeansPredi-ch6xk
I was troll 🙄
I have a supply of seroquil. Was using it for sleep help nightly until I found out what it does to blood sugar now one week out of the month I'll stop my normal sleep med and use it with Doxipen as a tolerance cycle.
Never found it addictive even when I was taking 50mg nightly.
Every drug can be abused so I'm not that shocked about this.
Okay but does this factor in that most addicts have comorbities and could be taking normal to high doses as precribed.
I take it for sleep bc I have bad insomnia
Me too, how to manage the next day grogginess
Quetiapine is fine. I can’t even see what it would do to you, XR is so chill. The immediate one can be a bit of a rush if you take it with food, but this is easily the mildest AP I’ve taken re side effects.
nurses and doctors should try some for themselves to educate themselves on these poisons.
Amen to your post 👏 👏 👏
Bruh who is buying seroquel for 3-8 dollars when you can get dope for $5. The high is way better. Seroquel ain’t even a high it’s a good night sleep.
I was Seroquel when my mental problems were at there worse I was on for about 2 years or so,I eventully got of this drug it took me 9 months to get off it only by meditating I could get of this drug after that i went through 2 years of withdrawl a very sedatting drug.
that tik tok zoom editing is nauseating
Yes I had problems doing anything while I was taking this tablet and still am I could barely stand up but I was in such a state I would of risked anything
What is an anti-depressant that could be used to taper off seroquel. Thank you.
Been on this for 22 years straight. Its very strong. I was going to elementary school on 400 mg. I have no idea how i even made it through.
its not even that fun. No recreational value whatsoever
Who abuses this? It doesnt have a good high it just puts you to sleep, and after like a week it stops doing that.
If the doctor suspects genetic issues they can do a genetic test to see if it could be the way you are metabolizing the medication. The one I like is Genomind. Genesight is another good one.
@@LevelheadedMind ma'am please elaborate more I will be able to understand better. And yeah this thing u mentioned about genetics and metabolism more is new thing for me I didn't come across this one since starting. My doctor herself is my inspiration to study more on psychiatric medicine I m in mbbs abroad and I haven't gave up just because of 1 reason that's not something I can say without your permission. So 2012 till today have been into medicine previously it was ayurvedic medicine and now modern medicine study. But I have to take some action with the issue I faced whilst I was in india long time ago related to psychiatric medicine which was completely unacceptable and unfair and has destroyed my health to extend that I cant even try to explain in a reply or comment ma'am. I want to have a conversation with u in privately because its people like us who can make a change
About this unfortunate thing so I will be waiting for your reply
Hi Neha. I will reply in our members area so we can have a more private discussion.
Wait, so my doc prescribed "baby heroin!!"
Super scary of what’s in our psych meds
I took 28 tablets and survived all thought I had to crawl around for a few days
I'm prescribed Seroquel for sleep at a low dose
Me too, but it makes me dizzy the next morning
Seroquel has been used as a drug since it was on the market
I had to jump on here to say seroquel is evil! Run and don't look back.
I know that jail and prison populations abuse seroquel, gabapentin, and some other prescriptions most of us wouldn't consider fun.
I have to take 400mg am I going to be ok
I get angry seeing the face of psychiatrist.Psychiatrist destroyed my life
Can you do a video on Lithium and how it is used?
Not yet, but will in the future. Thank you.
I hate the way it makes me feel
I have severe tinnitus, only med that helps me sleep.
I literally felt high asf
yuck. wrong med for me as a lot of other meds have been. .. folks abusing this is sad
I take 300 mg every night and it’s helped my insomnia big time. I’ll take it till I die.
Everything is callable of being abused!
Never heard of this
Thank you
You're welcome 😊

I started with 300mg of seroquel it was pretty sedating i felt numb like a mind high hypnotized i started taking 600 then 900 i was on couch lock that i would slur when i would talk couldn't even work it was horrible tried to quit cold turkey I got horribly ill i had to be tapered down the doses it was scarry didn't know a medication could be so addicting. Thank you for this video.
Why do doctors love to give 1000s of milligrams of sequel, because it's a suicide medication
I can imagine in prisons why they would want this..
Just sleep all the way through their sentences..😅
I hate that you had that boring, annoying music playing throughout the video. So annoying and unnecessary. I muted the video and just read the closed captions.
Uhh how about just doing real drugs if u ginna do drugs?
600 mg
U mean squirrely birds?
Guys i take seroquel for sleep aid and it make me dizzy the next morning unable to do anything any good alternative that could manage my life i took olanzapine XR before it makes me very sleepy .
wdf ii take this every night 25 mg
For what??
ur good
Very informative, presented on point.
I understand the benefits of Serequeoul for certain individuals it has been life-saving.
Quetiapine is handed out like lollies worldwide.
Legalise, regualte provide harm reduction and dont discriminate.
No patient should be put through the torture of rapid benzo detox. The Asheton manual should be standard procedure to follow for benzo detox.
This is mainly correct but she got alot incorrect
I'll say!
