    LIC Pedals MK I - CV5712 & two RCA 2N220's
    Analogman Sun Bender 1.5 - Two OC72's
    Sola Sound / D*A*M MKII - Two OC84's
    EFE Super Alpa Overdrive - Mullard OC42, OC84, & OC8DM
Bum Fuzz Unit - Some silicon transistors (I sold the pedal so i can't see what trannies it has, though I don't think it matters for this one)
Big tone bender comparison that I hope is helpful. Check out my channel for other fuzz demos!

To my ears the Bench mark is the Tone bender in the middle The others sound like Boosted versions in some ways. I am in the process of building a Tone bender my self. The only difference is that I will be controlling the amount of voltage going to the transistors hence Bias. There will be a third knob. It's interesting to note I bought an sears and roebuck copy of the 1.5 back in 1966 and it used 2 AA batteries instead of a 9 volt. Thank you for shearing c]8-)

Additionally, the reason the 1.5 MAY have been around before the Arbiter Fuzz is because Dick Denny's VOX Fuzz circuit is virtually identical to the Arbiter Fuzz Face circuit!

Just ordered a mk1 style fuzz last night after learning the differences. They have more mid snarl and an unruly character.

I'm surprised you don't have a VOX V828 in there it's one of my favorite Tonebenders. There are quite a few out there in the wild. Acid Fuzz calls theirs the Italian, as you probably know. Really cool video.

Hi, do you know what fuzz gets close in tone with the first 10 sec of Are you gonna go my way- Lenny Kravitz?

I never knew British Pedal Co and JMI were the same thing, but I'm glad I know now. I'd rather not buy from folks selling stolen or fake gear... just one of those conscious things. Thanks for the demos though, grain of salt indeed. Yours have definitely been informative and helped me out along the way. Keep it going bro.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they're owned by the same people which is why they're allowed to toss the "Tonebender" trademark between brands. BPC's tagline is "Home of fuzz since 1965" which is a fucking joke and totally fabricated. They use the Tonebender trademark and the Tonebender MKI came out in 1965. So that means they've had part in the invention and evolution of fuzz pedals since 1965? It's a load of shit and just marketing and making money off of other peoples ideas.

@@fuzzz5008 hey dude, what's your reverb shop? Thanks for the demos, have been instrumental for me. I ended up getting a Blackstrap Electrik mk1.5 (nkt-274)based on your demo. Love it.

@@fuzzz5008 eh? as if Macari's isn't just marketing and making money off other people's ideas as well. at least JMI/BPC pedals are in the right price range.
BTW, the image you cut to at 1:02 is of a counterfeit MKI, built by Music Ground.

I understand what you're saying but the current Macari's inherited the business that made the original sola sound/colorsound pedals in the 60's and 70's and are now having them remade which, to my judgement, seems fine unlike someone stating a new company (BPC) and just slapping the trademark on them and acting like the company had any part in the original. I do agree that sola sound pedals are a bit pricy and then the used market inflates the price even more because people are just trying to make money off of them. I was unaware about the picture I have up of the MKI though good eye I just used the picture because that's what the originals looked like

SO EASY TO DIY THESE SIMPLE FUZZ PEDAL CIRCUITS. USE A BREAD BOARD TO GET IT HOW YOU WANT AND PUT IN METAL BOX. Or build it on VERO STRIP BOARD and ALWAYS USE TRANSISTOR SOCKETS! *A GOOD HACK IS TO JUST USE AN 8-PIN IC SOCKET AS TWO TRANSISTOR SOCKETS*

    • @paulj0557tonehead
      @paulj0557tonehead 4 ปีที่แล้ว

you can put 4 transistors on a common 14-pin ic socket. The kind with the round holes are even better. 😊

Never buy anything from British Pedal Co ... their shady business dealings with stolen guitars from a wealthy Italian Collector speaks volumes as to their character. Just go buy from the Macarri's or Lucy Rush.
